Well I made a switch , but I switched to (( Linux Ubuntu )) , and you know what ? they make vmWare , Parallels, and VirtualBox, WINE ,and CrossOver FOR LINUX... and I can keep Windows installed with a dual-boot, and Linux doesn't get viruses, spyware, scareware, or malware... Linux is in the same family as Mac... ... Mac uses code from Nextstep that copies code from BSD, and Apple even made a Linux years ago called mkLinux

Linux Ubuntu FREE

VirtualBox FREE

Not switching to a Mac priceless ...

@nailart718 The best thing to do is re-install your OS from time to time.

my mac has been acting slow when it turns on. ive deleted alot of the files that i used to have on my mac and the backup machine. do you have any idea what could be the problem? any tips? thanks

Try deleting the Trash securely. That always works for me. Otherwise, id say remove as many Applications as possible. Especially ones that you dont use. The larger apps such as Photoshop, Final Cut, Logic etc. do tend to hog a lot of system resources.

If that still doesnt solve your problem, try defragging the hard drive. Google 'iDefrag'. Download it, and give it a run. The entire process can take a few hours.

But as a last resort, back up everything and do a clean install.

I'm getting ready to make the PC to iMac transition towards the end of this month. Thank you for the tip about deleting the trash can securely, very helpful tip indeed. Its little simple things like that can be frustrating when a problem, yet simple to solve when you know how to do it.

@SpencerX2Productions That only applies to text though right? The 'cut' im referring to is moving files from one location to another. From what Ive seen, you have to copy and then delete the old file.

hahaha well dont worry. Being a PC has its benefits too. I mean you can get a PC for under £300, if gives you more to do (uninstalling trial-ware, virus scanning, problem solving) therefore you bond with you PC a lot more. It creates a love-hate relationship. Its more sociable as well because you will always need help/advice from somebody about a problem! Dont feel left out, you're part of something bigger! LOL

I have the Early 2008 model but I cant remember, is the September 2007 model titanium or was it the white plastic?

It's Titanium. I think they had only been out a few weeks at the time. My laptop blew up and Sony were asking a ridiculous amount to fix it (only they could). I had already been researching Macs for months at that point and wanted one badly, that pushed me over the edge and I went out and bought one. Best purchase ever!
