  • He looks like he has no problem eating LOTS of rice & gravy....lol

  • You know a video on survival cooking is good when you make the watcher hungry lol

  • what kinda dip are you dippin?

  • Obviously, that man has been eating a LOT more than chicken gravy & rice....lol

  • nice watch what is it?

whats the brand? an how much was it. thanks man

  • Thats one small meal

  • Awesome. I'm starved now.

  • Nice video. Thanks for sharing.

  • This looks amazingly good! Wow! Can I have the brand of gravy you used? Great video guy. :)

  • I give you new name Defender of vittles

  • You are going to slim down in no time, if you keep up with the diet like that. Nice work, cooking rice on Trox and canteen cup. I know it is not easy.

  • you got fluffy white rice from that much water? good man. no wasting water. that lid is genius

  • "Just a good ole boy, never meanin' no harm..." I wish you were my neighbor dude, a good redneck is one valuable friend! And your vid is good for a cooking impaired person like myself. Subscribed

  • damn...i usually mostly eat more fancy things, but i would take this over caviar anyday. Great vid, keep em up

  • thanks for your tips !

  • Cool! I like the idea of carrying the rice in a nalgene bottle. I'd probably take one of my 32 ounce ones for long trips. I usually have one for water and one for penny stove fuel. Anyway, where did you get the squishy bowl? I have seen them in a couple videos and was thinking about buying one. Good video, man.

  • Make more canteen videos.

  • Instant gravy? Sounds good, I'll have to try that. I've been using bullion in my rice but gravy sounds better.

    Great video, thank you.

  • Oh for crying out loud, will using a lighter make you any less of a survivor guy??!!!

  • quick question locke6206

hows that oasis canteen holding up? i bought a few to use with my canteen cups but they seem fragile, at least compared to regular nalgenes? whats your take on them?

  • Good demo, thanks for sharing it. One comment... Squirrel hunting + bright yellow T-shirt = invisible squirrels.

  • are those para-cord survival bracelets

  • @thetoodumasss Yes they are.

  • Thanks.

  • Does the rice stick to the bottom of your canteen cup?..It always sticks to mine..Nice videos.

  • @NorthShore0 I usually add a drop of olive oil into the cup before I cook and I dont have any probs at all with it sticking.

  • @locke6206 a lil more water helps too..if you forgot the oil..great vid thanks bud!

  • nice vid!

  • if you put yor canteen back wards on the stove/stand so it dosent fit together snug but theres a gap at each side. it will make your thing boil faster.

  • I'm not really an outdoor person, but that was pretty nifty.

  • @DustinH Thank you very much!

  • if you set you cup opposite the stove it will not 'stick' to the cup.

  • Question, I noticed that you used the cutting edge of your knife to strike the sparks to start the fire. What does that do to the knife edge?

I'll have to try that recipe.

  • @stickman409 It will dull the crap out of your knife lol

  • I think it's something in the design of those canteen cups or something but i could never get mine really, really clean. i even had to buy the army a new one once cause they wouldn't take mine back.."too dirty". Good luck cleaning it. Keep the vids coming.

  • Nice video....Enjoyed watchingl.keep it up!

  • Thank you

  • Nice setup!..Looks good..have you ever tried using esbit fuel??..

  • Yes I have tried esbit.. It works good too.

  • BK2! Great knife! Own one as well! Good vid too. Thanks

  • I like the video and really like the shirt. Always looking for new trail food. I use the trioxane bars, and love them. I used part of an really old army surplus circa 80's today to show my son we could start a fire from scratch in a foot of snow and with sleet and freezing rain coming down in a pretty strong wind. It worked great. They may not be for the guys like the period stuff but if used right they are a sure fire right now. If its live or die I want my match safe and trioxane. Great vid.

  • im new to your channel and im very impressed. great videos.. clean that damn cup! lol

  • Roflmao.. I will work on that!

  • the one lock was using was the 8oz....i bought a set on ebay(8oz and 16oz).....

  • That looks like a real good setup there. What were those tab things for fire. "Pyroxene" or somthing - I couldn't hear you right. I have never seen those before. I want to buy a lot of them. They would go great with my other stuff. They better be legal in CA. There are just too many restrictions here. At least I grew up in the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range, so it wasn't like having to live around all those city people. I wish I knew a better place to move to. I was kind of thinking Montana.

  • They are Trioxxane Fuel Bars and I am sure they are legal in CA. If you go to a local Army Surplus store they probably have them there. If you can buy Wetfire, Esbit, and Hexamine tablets you can buy this for sure.

  • Cool - Thankyou for the info. Thanks for the videos too.

  • that cantein looks like its made of glass. is that just an illusion or what?

  • Its a Nalgene Canteen. Great canteen!

  • @ronaldoelpaso

    It's a Nalgene brand canteen.

  • Great Video Chris - thanks for the props!

  • No problem brother! My pleasure man!

  • Chris, where did you find the canteen cup covers?

  • canteenshop rob here on youtube has a website where you can buy all kinds of great canteen gear

  • brilliant

  • Thank you locke6206, I enjoy your vids and I thank you for your service to our country. Please keep up the good work, we need more like you.

  • Thank you! Always nice to hear!

  • I love the canteen. I so need one. also what is the fruit in the back ground?

  • Persimmons

  • I have made persimmon pudding, an old family recipe. Mmm mmm good.

  • LOL, I had this for dinner just the other night! Only differance was the cookset that was used (Swede milsurp with the trangia stove). Give spaghetti a try, break the noodles in half for easier carry and cooking, packet of sauce mix and cut up some summer sausage or whatever else you want to use in it. Good stuff

  • Guess I need the damn lid and canteen stove. The lil fold out stove and big trioxane bars didnt boil me shit last night in 45 degree weather lol.

  • I think that the canteen stove directs the heat better to the bottom of the canteen cup and I have used 3 triox bars before without the lid on before I got a boil going so the lid definitely makes a difference for sure.

  • I really like the canteen cook sets and seeing people demonstrate different gear and stuff. Could you tell me what that fuel packet was,, I didn't catch the name?

  • It was military trioxxane fuel bars.

  • i would need a bigger bowl. good vid my friend

  • tasty treat, nice job bud

  • Thank you brother I appreciate that!

  • My friend I do the same thing with those chinese noodle soups.

    Thanks for posting!

  • Thank you!

  • Looked good! Next time add some squirrel to that dish! 5/5 as always!

  • I would have loved to have been able to add a little squirrel, but alas no luck today.

  • Good eats my man. You can also add beans. You can throw black eye peas (dry) into blender and chop them up a little. Just a few pulses then add that to your rice. The peas have the protein in them. And cooks quicker with the rice. You might need to add a little more water.

  • Just curious, I've used my canteen cup to boil coffee, and the sides are charred black. It doesn't affect the function, but how do you clean yours?

  • I just use a brillo or SOS pad when I actually do clean mine.. Never really gets everything off but it does good enough.

  • cool, thanks. great video, keep them up.

  • Thank you!

  • great video Chris keep it simple rice and gravy good idea with the instant gravy. Is that a 22 leaning on your pack.

  • Yes.. I was out trying to shoot some squirrels but apparently they were in hiding.. lol

  • great video

  • Thank you!
