1 rule of thumb. Never use a high gear ratio reel for tuna, shark, marlin, etc. You'lll put a lot of strain on your arm. Why do you think all the other big game reels like the TLDs, and tiagras have low ratios? The shimano stella 20000 has a ratio of 4.4. Thats what i would use. I dont know why daiwa made a big reel like this with a high ratio. Its much easier to pull up big fish with a low ratio. I only like high ratio reels for freshwater fish. Even for stripers and blues i dont use high ratio
@jandhtackle Yeah, it will move the jigs fast, but once you hook a couple hundred pound tuna, I would think that it would be a struggle to pull up a fish that big with a fast ratio. I would just never use a high ratio reel for any big offshore fish. But that's me. I would rather have a 2 speed shimano TLD 50. Or if i was using spinning tackle, I would go with a shimano spheros or a saragosa.
@TheShimanoman its not actually designed for high speed jigging, it was originally designed as a topwater reel in which a high speed retrieve was required to induce strikes from fast fish with keen eyesight such as tuna. high speed ratio reels are also used in many tropical countries when popping for giant trevally and other species of this manner. the high speed ratio enables you to work lures at higher speeds for longer and with greater ease than a low speed reel.
@jandhtackle No I understand the point its very incredible If i called in tommorow would I be able to talk to someone who has fished a majority of these high end spinners? I would really like some opinons ,im very much at a stand still for the past few months on a decision
@kwdiver93 The best person to speak with is Jimmy and I'm not sure if he will be in tomorrow, but he will be in monday. Phone 631-244-0600, or if you want you can email me josh@jandh.com

@ElvisFish411 No. The gearing in it is amazing and the drag is sick! also, don't compare a $200 reel to a $1200 reel.
