@romonasplumber As a plumber in florida I can and will say good job. You made this simple for a home owner. And you can save home owners some money! I work for myself and when I get calls for this I wonder why they haven't looked for this on Youtube. Good work!
@flagface4 Few will DIY, fewer will learn first. As a Plbr. I have seen what those who will DIY can do to make something bad, even worse! I hope to tell them do it right or call a pro. If I can get the fantasy out of peoples minds that Plumbing is easy I will be happy. Sometimes it is, but one needs to be aware of the pit falls. "Oh I had no idea" is a common response I get from DIY'ers that screwed it up. Now it costs a lot more! you know the twisted off Delta valve trick!
@slugworth99 Thanks for watching, tell your friends, we make Google Ad money! when people click from watching to an ad!.... I know that is a shamless plug, but hey, we are free. and the Tip jar is empty
I got a brand new American Standard shower/tub mix control one lever style. Problem is when off I get a drip. Anything I can adjust under the handle? The filler just has a cheap slider giz to stop flow to tub and send to shower head when pulled. But if water is getting to there, problem must be in valve or control. Right?
thank you for the "how to video" - husband has a problem trying to get the "hex screw" out - none of my allen wrenches seem to work - can you help with this as to what size is needed.
@queeniejo100 There are different models of Moen Valves. The Trim comes in too many versions for me to say, but which screw is the problem? you must have a lever handle posi temp valve. go on line to Moen.com and you will be able to identify your unit. I always like the simple clear plastic knob. one screw in center and that is phillips. most Moen is made in China now so could be metric.
Wonderful tutorial. Excellent job of explaining everything. I love how you mention problems that we might run into and how to address them. Nice video work too. Thanks so much for this!
@l31007 Thank you, I am getting better with my presentations. Saying too much makes my videos too long, saying too little causes possible grief.... We are thinking of adding text notes of some possible glitches, would you have read them?
My valve is apparently an older version since it does not have the H and C markings. However, could having this valve in up side down with all other things set correctly be my problem with still getting hot water when first turning on the handle? Would flipping the valve resolve this problem?
@ramonasplumber Thank you for the reply. I bought the house about 4 months ago and it has been that way since moving in. I am currently doing a remodel of the bathroom and the only thing that I am not changing is the shower/tub, but I want to fix things. I would rather the faucet be a Delta because I love their MultiChoice valve that is so easy to work with, but that would be extensive work cutting out the wall from the adjacent room. I will try to flip the Moen valve and go from there.
Great video!! I have one of these Moen Posi-temp shower/tub faucets. However, my faucet does turn on hot first and progresses to cold as your turn the handle counter-clockwise. I have tried to rotate the center stem 180 degrees as stated, but water keeps running and it does not correct the problem. I noticed you said that the valve could be place in up side down depending on the plumbing connections. My plumbing is does have hot coming in on the left and cold on the right. My valve is apparen

thank-you for uploading such a helpful video, it is greatly appreciated and nice to see someone willing to help others with their plumbing issues.i'm currently having issues and i found this video educating and easy to follow. :-)
Hi i have a single-handle tub that is leaking however the handle turn all the way up to the rigth or left, on the right side at the top says hot and on the right side at the bottom says cold and on the middle of te bottom says off but if i keep turning the hadle to the left after the off sing it keeps turning until get on the middle of the bottom and that's when stop to turn but ither way the water came out and when i set the handle on the off sing is a small leak. Can you help me ??? Tks
@Aprillei1979 Yes the Positemp cart. has a part in it that gets stuck in one position and the cold or the hot are blocked out. If you pull the cart and free up the inner stainless steel piston your good to go, but might as well buy a new one and have an extra if you can free up the old one.
I followed the instructions in the video. Everything works great, no leaks until I turn the water on and then back off. Then the faucet leaks like crazy and I have to bust the pliers out to get it to turn all the way off. Suggestions?
I know this a really basic question, but you did not say how you shut off the water. We live in a former apartment, now condo. I'm guessing the water to the whole building would have to be turned off? Thanks for your helpful videos!
This was great..i got the cartridge for $35 at my local big box and the specialty tool was only $15 (plastic version but it didn't work) but i didn't need it. This video saved me $100!
Thanks for this informative video. Keep up the good work. We as a home owner that only know so much really appreciate it. Helps me a lot to tackle this project.
Before changing the cartridge, mine worked like yours (all the way right is off, all the way left is hot, in between is cooler to cold as you go right). After putting a MOEN 1222 in, suddenly off is straight up, right is hot, left is cold, and I get no mix to get warm. What did I do wrong?
@ramonasplumber : Hi Greg, should the water be shut off to rotate the cart post? I have the same exact problem and trying to figure out whether to turn the post with pliers as shown or remove and reinstall the cartridge (upside down). Thanks!
Excellent Video!!!!!!!!! I had a problem with not having hot water for the shower. My local home improvement store recommended replacing the cartridge. I found your video and your instructions were outstanding. I took your advice and bought the posi-temp puller. I'm glad I did because the cartridge was very difficult to remove without it. I finished the job and now I have hot and cold water running in my shower. Thanks for saving me the expensive cost of using a plumber.
I need to only replace the Escutcheon. It looks exactly like the one on the video. The screw holes are located on the 2 & 7 O'clock position. What I need is the model number for the Moen Escutcheon. Could you advise as to the model number. I would really appreciate it. Thanks and great video on the removal and replacement of the valve.
I just had a plumber install a new tub/shower mixer configuration three weeks ago. Meanwhile I finished tiling the shower. Now I'm all done and put the new Moen fixtures on, turned the water on and everything works fine. Only one thing, when I shut it off the new unit drips. Is there anywhere that needs a finetune adjustment? Thanks...Steve
Great video. I went to Home Depot to find a replacement cartridge but only found complete sets. While still in the store, I pulled the Moen phone # off the box, gave a description of my issue/shower hardware and within 3 min had completed the order for a FREE replacement cartridge. With the help of this video and the new cartridge, I expect the installation to be straightforward. Jennifer at Moen customer service was great and they made me a big fan.
I bought the puller tool at Lowe's for $14.95. The cartridge is $19.95 for the OEM at Lowes. This, including tool,., gasoline to and from Lowe's, cartridge, and silicone grease was under $40. The one time I had a plumber do the work it was a $75 trip fee, $50 for the cartridge, and $45 labor. No way I will ever pay a plumber to do ANY work...the ones in Austin, TX are thieves.
I have no plumbing experience, I followed his instructions....did a little research on the Moen web site (I had no clue which cartridge to use) and 30 minutes later, I was done. ensure you purchase the puller, it was a life saver!!! Great video!!! Thanx!!!

Note, though.. cartridge pullers dont cost $100. That alone would scare me off of doing this at all.
