I live in Texas, but I've never gone to this! Soooo awesome!
We don't have a local music scene, cuz' my town is small. And boring. There is literally nothing here to offer anyone. We have to drive an hour to go anywhere interesting. We don't even have a proper bookstore! And the mall closest to us shut their bookstore down... :(
But, this place is awesome! I must plan to go sometime!
Its awEsome that you have this online SHow! I was a struggling DIY-er and I just discovered your show and its the BEstEVER!
I'm from CEBU, Philippines and around here, only seamstresses and designers know how to make stuff plus everything else is so commercial that if you get a shirt, 5 people are wearing the same thing in the same place. EeW.
I'm spreading the THREAdBanGer site to to all my friends who also Do DIY. We even started our own DIY club.
your correct on one level, all the stuff on this planet has plant life in it in one form or the other. but diesel fuel is petroleum fossil fuel (that stuff we drill out of the ground to get most of our electricity/fuel for our car/plastic/etc...) from the "bottom of the barrel", the sludge of the oil. a man named rudolph diesel invented the diesel engine in the 1890's to run on straight peanut oil, before there was a gas station on every corner. it showed at the world's fair in france (CON'T)
(CON'T1) and shortly after he was found dead in the english channel. since then, the diesel engine has been built to run on the bottom of the barrel "diesel" fuel. with a couple of modifications the engine can run on any type of oil. stephen "the obnoxious hippie" and many others over the years have been running their diesel engines on "waste" cooking oil. pull up to the back of a restaurant, pump the grease out of the vat in the back, filter, heat and you are running on cooking grease. (CON'T)
(CON't2) just make sure its not partially hydrogenated anything...or you and your vehicle will be very sad, i speak from personal experience. i lived on this bus on and off for about 2 years...check out my youtube account (seacloud) for some more vids about the bus. also, there are many resources online, definitely check them out. xoxoxo c
I must admit I FFWD'ed through the music, because that's not what I watch TB for, but I understand that you have to cover all aspects of something related to your "cause" like this SXSW.
you should go check out VON IVA! they are an awesome band from SF. i dont dont know if she still does but the drummer used to make the shirt they sell at shows.

For some odd reason, my local music scene is like all rappers and other musicians that I wouldn't really want to listen to ... etc.
