OK right. As far as I see it Marty constructs melodies from what he hears in his head NOT his knowledge of scales. YES he does what what scale hes in etc but it is not this knowledge that makes his playing

nope actually he follows every chord, he makes the background music, and then follow every chord and use arpeggios for the solos over it. he says hes not a big fan of knowing and following the scles cause that jut limits you.
