@bbyretro I applied to the graduate program for graphic design and we had to submit a portfolio of previous work, resume w/ references plus a statement of intent. It sounds from your post that you are looking to attend the Academy as an undergrad. My best advice would be to contact an admissions counselor at the school. Its never to early to start thinking about college and the staff at the Academy are very friendly and I'm sure will point you in the right direction. Good luck with everything!
I had an instructor last semester at the Academy who said, "There are very few experiences in your life that will test you to your furthest limits and then push you beyond. This is one of those experiences." This comment was based on one of the most challenging classes in the MFA graphic design program at the Academy, but I really feel it applies to the whole program. It is an amazingly challenging but satisfying experience and I feel fortunate to be able to learn and grow in this way.
@erv1993 I responded to your question, but had to erase the @erv1993 because I wrote too much :), just wanted to make sure you were alerted of the response! Cheers.
I'll be attending AAU on campus this fall but plan on doing online courses during the summers, how do you like the online courses? And great idea to introduce yourself instead of staying anonymous.
Hi @PanicXMusic :-), Thanks for the comment! I have really been enjoying the online classes. They are well organized, very informative, and the instructors do a great job of answering questions in a timely manner. There is a lot more reading and writing since all of the "lectures" are written and all of the discussions are done in the form of posts, but I have found that it is still possible to build relationships with your classmates as well as instructors. Good luck for your classes!
