In the 1980 there was a DJ (Bill McCollough)on WTMJ in Milwaukee who would play this song 3-4 times a week. When that station stopped playing music, a friend I had who worked there knew how much I liked the song and gave me the 45.ad to say, I lost it in a move THanks for posting it

Nur mal zur Aufklärung: das ist eine gekürzte und frei übersetzte Version des vierten Satzes von Ludwig van Beethovens brillanter 9. Symphonie, die wohl das berühmteste Musikstück aller Zeiten ist. Der Schlusssatz enthält auch Beethovens fulminante Vertonung des von ihm vergötterten Gedichtes "Ode an die Freude" von Friedrich Schiller. Der Dirigent Herbert v. Karajan hat im Auftrag des Europarates ein Arrangement des Hauptthemas als Europahymne geschaffen.

Thanks for posting this lovely song. I never realsed as a kid that this music was composed by Beethoven. Just to know that, made me look back at that incredible composer. I am not a classical fan, but I am impressed that his music was re-presented to the uninitiated like myself.

rios singt nach einem motiv von beethoven und die dt. hymne stammt von haydn: kaiserquartett "einigkeit und recht" und so... ham mir meine lehrer mal erzählt...

Thanks for posting this peice, it was a tune that first showed me how music can touch the soul, as a 9yo I hadn't yet checked out Beethoven's back catalogue and Clockwork Orange was still in the future. Song Of Joy was a big hit in Australia and as kids we'd see this film clip (they weren't called vieos back then) on the Saturday morning pop shows. Aye The Fourth Movment of the Ninth a true gift to all souls!
