if you read my comments you would have seen that I stated I had been in the Bujinkan for 25+ years. So saying I have only studied taekwondo is a stupid comment in itself. Please provide one link or video title where hatsumi does Kusarigama. I cant find one
@nofatchxplzthx OK. How long have you been training? Where did you receive your training? How old are you? What kind of training with the kusarigama do you do? If you have something constructive to add then please add it. If you are going to hold them responsible for showing you the full breadth of their curriculum including variations and with both hands in a 40 second clip then you are setting yourself up for disappointment.
I have trained over 25 years in the Bujinkan (run by Hatsumi Masaaki) and there is no Kusarigama whatsoever in any of the Ryuha in the Bujinkan so your really are talking rubbish. i also doubt hatsumi sensei personally taught you kusarigama for any period of time like the gentlemen in this video. Your comments clearly show your lack of understanding of a Koryu, another schools style of use with a weapon.
These men have beening using Kuarigama longer than you
Well then, maybe you would be so kind and grace us with a video if your superior skills? And would you also perhaps be willing give us your name and the name of the dojo in which you are obviously teaching these superior skills.
Well I couldnt find any videos featuring you on kusarigama, only the three video-game related videos in your profile. I also caught your subscription to Choson ninja and your age, if true, 25 years old.
So let me recap for posterity: You are 25 years old, Bujinkan, you teach other people kusarigama "1 on 1" and you believe two Menkyo Kaiden in SMR-Jodo /Isshin-ryu kusarigamajutsu, each with more experience in either art than your life-span, arent performing kusarigama correctly.

anyone who can stop a forged katana blade with a wooden-handled kusarigama doesent need weapons in the first place...they can use their magical powers...
I'm not sure what clip you are watching, but he isn't using the wooden handle to stop the blade. What he IS doing in this clip is using the attached blade to stop the sword. He isn't using a kusarigama with a metal blade in this video, but a wooden training version.
anyone calling themselves "DaCootMan" or some other nonsense name doesn't need to be posting comments about a REAL martial art in the first place... they can just write their thoughts on the bathroom wall in a gas station.
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that is by far, the funniest hater tell-off i have ever heard!!!!!!!!!!! cuz its douches like that who right in gasstation bathrooms! XD
Besides, anyone with more than superficial knowledge about kusarigama knows the wooden handle of most would be iron reinforced (bands & strips) so it's definitely possible to block a katana with (certain parts of) the handle.
@nofatchxplzthx

It's a dueling weapon for sure. Not for the "battlefield". :-) I could see guards carrying one though...

that weapon looks cool and all but not very practical or easy to use
runnybabbit12 9 months ago
@runnybabbit12
It was definetely not an effective weapon on the battlefield where you had no room to use the chain and weight.
As it was explained to me this weapon was used by guards protecting buildings and such.

@FredDude27 ok
that makes more sense
