Ummm that's not an extended cross. An extended cross is where you solve the cross and one corner, making the first pair easy.

X-cross isn't just planning the cross out in your head during inspection. It's making a 2x2 block and then finishing the remaining 2 cross edges so that when your cross is done you have a F2L insert already done.

Can you recommend any videos for teaching the OLL and PLL methods? You see I learnt the fridrich method yesterday and it's been really helpful for my time. The problem is that the beginners method is restricting my speed on the top layer!!

The exstended Cross is when you can do the cross and first F2L slot...not just planing the cross in the first 12seconds of pre inspection...I've only seen one person that does the ex-cross with all of his solves. It's soo advanced.

I actually don't know lol. Its been so long since I did an average of 5. I was averaging like 22 seconds in Osctober. But then I had surgery on my hand and had to wear a splint for like 4-5 weeks and was really slow when I came back. My best time is only like 16 seconds.

Doing the cross om the bottom saves time, because you don't have to turn the cube up, and you can use that time to get your first F2L slot.

oh take a solved side and change 2 opposing corner pieces to be anything but the solved sides color.. then you have a figure 8 (ish) shape .. aka infinity symbol.

I noticed that some of your OLL's and PLL's are inefficent, you should attempt to re learn some of them. I suggest badmephesto's [youtube sn] (I believe I spelled that right) PLL page for starters because I noticed whatever one you did in your first solve was not the greatest.

Just to let you know, the extended cross is actually the cross + first F2L pair together.

So instead of just planning out the cross beforehand, you plan out the cross and the F2L pair. You may think it's too advanced for you, but it's not that hard to do on easy cases. However, because of that, you likely won't be able to do it often.

I did the cross the way you did it and my average dropped a whole two seconds on just that alone! so now my average is 36.44 and my rec is 20.99. (really lucky solve) but thats on a regular cube that you get from wallgreens. So then I ordered a speed cube today. (assembeled and lubed) So how many seconds faster should my time be when I get the cube?

hmm, where did you order it from, it really just depends how loose you have it set(not to loose or it will pop alot). It will probley drop a couple seconds, but I can't promise you will your time better. I actually usually average the same or better with my storebought, but it's really loose for a storebought.
