  • I dont see any cable slotted on your camera on 0:20. can you please explain it?

  • @GreenyBeelz

    : - /

I just can explain that my 2 bigs hands and the statue are hiding everything. Sorry man but there is nothing magic, I mean if you have a 400D you can do it. It's easy to configure and easy to record.

  • @thaismantik

    "50D" and not "400D" sry

  • @thaismantik so did you slotted the cable into your camera to make this video? :)

  • @GreenyBeelz yes it's an obligation for record this way :)

  • quick question! is there any way to hook a mic. up to the camera or anything to get sound? or not? cause im buying this camera i was just wondering..ND does the camera have to be plugged into the computer to record or not?

  • yess.. it works! ;)

  • how do you use the video? i have this camera and i dont know how to use the video part of it.

  • You must watch out, cuzz 50D is not build for video. You might overheat the chip.

  • @Hamzah41081 You are wrong. He's not actually recording with the camera, but using software to record the Live View mode. Therefore the chip won't care. And it wouldn't overheat anyway, as it would be limited by how much data it can process.

  • @CodeM1994

CodeM1994 is true, i just show the live you video on the screen instead of camera screen. No danger for the chip :)

  • can u please do a quick tutorial on how u did this

  • @Pvtchrislee07

Unfortunately I have no 50D anymore, I have a 7D now so video is more simple and don't need cable :)

  • But the way to do it is :

    1) Look for "EOS CAMERA MOVIE RECORD" on google and get it (it's a russian software but safe).

    2) Install the software on your computer, and plug your 50D on it with the USB cable.

    3) Then you just need to lauch the software and turn on your camera, you must turn the camera in live view mode, then the video will appear on the software and you can now record it.

  • do we have to plug the camera to the computer?

  • I'm just curious, is it possible to change the ratio? Sure, the quality is good, but as you can see it doesn't "fill" the youtube player. For it to fill the player, the ratio has to be 16x9. For "1080p hd", the size should be 1920x1080 or for 720p it should be 1280x720. are any of these possible?

  • due i have this camera brand new never used it before and cant wait to start taking pics but please tell me how you record with it and it i wanted to shoot like a quick local music video with it is it possible

  • hey bro ! I captured my video with this camera but the video wasn't smooth like you did. If you don't mind can you show me how to adjust it ?

    Thank you very much

  • i just fell in love...

  • @NightLightProd1108

    fell in love of ?

  • @thaismantik the cameras quality

  • @NightLightProd1108

    It's the 50 1.4 lens quality effect ;) a "ust have"

  • @thaismantik i fell inlove too. with the guy. hahah

  • @rowelmancilla

    lol thanks :D

  • @thaismantik

u thought that she/he fell in love to u cuz she/he saw u in mirror?? :D

  • 50 CAN SHOOOT VIDEO WOOOOOOT.

can you please tell up how? i have a 50d and i'm dying to try out this function. thanks alot

  • 50 CAN SHOOOT VIDEO WOOOOOOT

  • OMG! I HATE YOU!

    GIVE ME YOUR CAMERA!

  • Cannon 50D does not do video ive looked all over the place to see if it does it doesnt but if you want to make movies buy a video camera...

  • GREAT!! how do you get your color and quality to look so clean and movie like with the camera?

  • @LAmUSicLifE91

Hi it's because of the lens (50 1.4 very bright and open wide lens), and the computer who recorded the video is not a little netbook but a good tower : )

  • @thaismantik Oh okay, thanks...im about to get the 7d...and i want the best pro music video/movie effect or quality i can get out of it, any camera setting suggestions and lense suggestions?

  • I was about to download the EOS Camera Movie Recorder at

sourceforge, however, a warning appeared from my antivirus protection program stating that this was a harmful download.

Has anyone had the same problem?

  • @josuereyes bill gates embedded that warning

  • Does this work with the Rebel Xsi?

  • @spinsaver1

no idea, you need a camera with live view to do that. Don't know this camera sorry.

  • why do all 50D videos look all chppy, i think ill go with the 5D.. not a good video clarity, i want to shoot films

  • @LooneyM3

Because they are not made for video, it's just a trick for get the live view video on your computer, but definitly not a video camera.

  • is this a 50d? I'm deciding what to buy between d90 e canon 550d because I like taking videos but any of theese can satisfy me : Nikon (quality, bad video), Canon (good video but less quality in general). So i was evaluating 50d but on Canon site there's nothing about the possibility of taking videos and I've find in the net people who says that the canon 50d can't take videos. Is There anything I don't know?

If you can answer me quickly you'll be very nice.

  • @ricciofix

Hi, read the video description guys, it's not a vidéo mode, just a software to get video by plug the camera to a computeur : ) Don't buy a 50D if ya want to made video.

  • wait whut.. im just reading thomas his response..

You have too be plugged to a computer when shooting video..?

cant you save a video/image sequence to its flash mem..?

and later load the jpg/img sequence into whutever program..

because i would hate to stroll a computer/laptop with me.

  • @TheJustinfernandez

    - Hi, yeah the computer and camera must be pluged for take the video.

    - No way to save th eimage sequence on the flash card :°(

It's just a way to made video with 50D, but it's definilty not a video camera.

  • @TheJustinfernandez

Yeah you got to be pluged to a laptop to get video and no way to record on memory card : (

  • did you have too buy a lens with it??

i found the cam new for like 100 euro,

cant be right for such an DSLR..

If not.. what kinda lens you bought extra..?

    but awesome video..

  • @TheJustinfernandez

You mean you find a Canon EOS 50D new for 100€ ??? damn, by 10 of them because the price is more arround 800€/1000€ than 100€. I got this 50 1.4 lens, and wide angle lense and a 17-55 lens, depend of the kind of pics you want to take :)

  • Is this with a lens? or just the camera itself?

  • @GlossyPanda

It's a reflex camera with changeable lenses :)

In this video is a Canon 50 1.4

  • nice budha, anyway im going to buy these camera and im so excited:)

  • how did you manage to take video with canon 50D? i thought they cant

which mode do I go to? plz reply

  • @kalakalachuchu

Hi you dont need any mode, as I explain you just need the software for it (EOS Camera Movie Record), an USB cable and your computer. You just need to connect the camera and lauche the software, it will activate the live view mode and you'll be able to record it.

  • @thaismantik sorry, im a bit confused. i want to get a DSLR, primarily for video recording. i was told that this is a better option. i was under the impression that the 50D had a video function, are you saying that im only able to do video if its simultaniously plugged in via USB to the computer?

  • @thomasgoodin

    Hi ! Yeah that's right...

    - you will need to be pluged to the computer.

    - you won't be able to controle exactly you framerate.

    - the software is not 100% stable and your camera may be disconected.

This is more a tips for have some video experience with your 50D than a real way to made video seriously like with 500D / 5D MarkII / 7D.

  • @thaismantik thanks for taking the time to reply. yeah, by the looks of it im going to invest in a canon EOS 5D mark II. because apparently that allows me to record without a cable, as it comes with its own video function and audio record function. do you know if thats right?

once again, thanks for your help, have a good day!

  • @thomasgoodin

Yeah, in 500D / 7D / 5DmII you will record sound too. In fact, the 50D is not really recording video, the software is just just recording the "live view" système (you know it's when you shoot picture by looking the scene on the camera's screen).

7D is a great camera (cheaper than 5DMII), and lenses are cheaper than in 5D markII (because of bigger sensor on 5D).

  • Hey where did you get the program to shoot video? i cant find a good download it hasnt been working for me

  • @pimpinman4eva

Hi, I used the one on sourceforge

I just checked it for you and the download is working fine : )

  • how to take video with this camera? i do not know which one to go

  • Epic photographers gaze :D

  • @justinlovespastry :

10 years of daily training for it :D

  • I thought The 50D didnt take videos

  • He don't. It's a software who's using the light view preview video channel, and able you to record it on a computer. Then :

    - no sound.

    - need cable wired on a laptop.

    - no HD.

    - unstable framerate.

But can be fun for home video : )

  • i have a eos 50 d my self but i cant get the program working i install the program and set my camera om live view but the program only say that it cant find my camera

  • hum, I had this problem too ! try to launch the live view mode first, because the software use the live view video, the if he can't get the live view signal it may think that no camera is connected... let me know if it work this way : )

  • @thaismantik ok thanks man.

btw were are you from ?

  • Paris / France : )

  • so i cant put the footage on final cut...the camera doesnt get the sound

  • 0:05 the cats is supah cute.

  • @cannoir Thanks from him ! is a cat from Thailand ^^

  • OK... what frame rate is this at, because I can't get any better then 3fps with my 50D? And how did you get the better frame rate?

  • @mclarkphotos1 Hi ! for a good frame rate I guess you need a good computer, I tried it on my pc workstation (like in the video) and the frame rate was pretty hight, but when I tried it on my netbook, it was really more slow...

  • So this clip was done by manual focusing. How fast is 50D autofocusing in video mode?

  • Hi ! I guess they are no auto focusing in 50D unfortunately... maybe an option but the auto focus is slow as hell so useless :(

  • Ah, 50mm f1.4, great lens, althought narrow depth of field seems to be quite a problem in motion.

maybe some stationary morning, in calm blue hues...

  • To shoot video with the 50D you need to have the cam plugged in the computer right? How exactly van I set it up for filming?

    Thanks!

  • Hi Samuraï, the way to do it is pretty simple :

    1) Look for "EOS CAMERA MOVIE RECORD" on google and get it (it's a russian software but safe).

    2) Install the software on your computer, and plug your 50D on it with the USB cable.

    3) Then you just need to lauch the software and turn on your camera, you must turn the camera in live view mode, then the video will appear on the software and you can now record it.

  • In fact this software is just recording the live view video to your computer. The best way is to buy a USB cable extention, then you will be able to move with the camera.

    : )

  • @thaismantik hey, great concept. where can we buy one, preferably for pennies from the chineese engineers. Put the flash recorder in a usb to solve the problem! of carrying around your computer! any one know about that please send word! cant afford a 7d :(
