lol, ya i know what u mean...can u name some good(well they don't have to be good) movies with muscle cars? the 70's was known for B-Movies, their must have been alot....
well, there is the charger and chevelle from fnf 1, then yenko and chally vette and viper from fnf2, monte carlo, viper and fastback & GTXfrom fnf3, chevelle charger GN camaro mustang from fnf4- youve bullit and other like vanishing point, XXX GTO
hey Moparguy, thx....but i've seen most of those. Was hoping for some real 70's movies like Smokey & the Bandit...but i've heard Vanishing Point is a good movie.

Hell yeah, 500bhp from a 7L push rod V8 is much better than 700bhp from a 2.6L twin turbo DOHC straight 6.... oh wait, no it isn't.
The American V8... technology taking a step back!
American V8s sound good... and that's it. I've driven a 400bhp LS2 and a 380bhp YB cosworth back to back to compare, small block turbos aren't just lighter and more efficent, they're more fun to drive too.
Care to compare engine life and gas mileage with your skyline engine? The LS7 was the first mass production engine to ever produce more than 500 bhp and avoid the gas guzzler tax at the same time. A 7L V8 isn't even trying at 500 horsepower, so it'll last longer and gets better mpg. Anyone can cram 5 atmospheres into a small engine and make big numbers. Oh yeah and the C6 Z06 has perfect 50/50 weight distribution, even with a 7L monster up front. Thats American engineering for you. Go hom fanboy
I agree, I like the LS7 motor, idiot proof engineering, but I prefer a small 6 pot turbo. They're not just lighter, but they're more fun to drive. I mean when you feel an RB26 come on boost and pull to 8,000rpm, Jesus christ. No V8 can match that.
Fun is up for opinion. I could very well hate driving a Skyline. I've riden shotgun in a C5 Z06 with a bigger cam, new headers, underdrives, lightweight flywheel, racing clutch, etc. Was the fastest car I've ever been in and the most fun I've had since I can remember. We went till about 160 on the highway with plenty more to go. I love V8's, even though I have a rotary car. There's ZERO waiting. Instant gratification. Low revs, high revs, it doesn't matter. There's power everywhere.
True there is power through out the rev range, however that's hardly an argument if a skyline for example has a bigger revs range? I just think after driving both I prefer a small turbocharged unit overall - for a long cruise a V8 would be the better option. Only the other day a mate of mine pulled 165 in his Sierra cossie, plenty mnore left, it's only pushing 440 at the fly - I was behind him giving chase, there's no way a 440bhp LS1 would deliver as hard, the torque was amazing.
More revs doesn't mean anything. In many cases, it just takes longer for you to get into your powerband. The LS1 is a torque machine, and has won several 'greatest engine' awards. I've also been in my cousin's LS1 Trans Am, with just new headers and a cat-back. The car weighs almost 2 tons, but the engine is strong enough to jerk the entire chasis on the highway and spin the tires at ~70-80 mph. Turbocharged small engines are fun. But you can always tell its just a small engine with a turbo.
Actually you'd be surpised, if you take the 2.5l 5pot volvo turbo at 300bhp you'd never no it was a small turbo, feels just a 4l V8, no lag, power up to 6500rpm from just 1200rpm.
Also - so what about sping wheels, there a video on youtube of a Cossie spining the rears at 109mph in 4th... no big deal? Personally it's vs loads of americans, so I'm just going to back down, you play your games, we'll play ours.
Wait for the turbo? My brothers K03 turbo comes in at 1300rpm on his 2.5l 5pot. Hardly any turbo lag at all.
I know a guy with a 3dr Cossie - 2.0l straight 4, with a T34 hybrid turbo, it comes in at about 1900rpm, and pulls to 6800rpm, there's only a tiny bit of lag, and if you're stupid enough to get caught in a race below 2,000rpm you deserve to lose!
1. There is NO SUCH THING as a "mass-produced LS7". it NEVER SAW PRODUCTION. You're thinking of the LS-6. It was advertised at 450 hp but made much more.
2. Where was the "gas guzzler tax" in 1970? Next to the unicorns? Again, no such thing.
3. A big block last longer than a small block? ROFL! The increased rotational mass and weight of a big block almost GUARANTEED it would wear out before a small block.
YOU go home CHILD. Go play with your Transformers some more.
@USAon3 What the hell are you talking about? You're saying there is no such thing as an LS7? I'm well aware of what the LS-6 is. I'm not talking about the 1970's muscle cars. I'm talking about modern day small blocks. And when did I say a big block would last longer than a small block? I think you have my posts confused with someone else's or you need to get off of drugs. No such thing as an LS7? What do you think the C6 Z06 runs off of? Hopes and dreams?
Hah, that's funny, because last I checked, the stock Twin Turbo Supra did 184. This junker needs nitrous to get past 120. My non turbo Supra does 140.
that may be so but any muscle car worth it's fuel bill can smoke anything else in a 1/4 mile cause their built to do that i've seen top end 911's get smoked by my stock impala(big block chevy v8 obv)
anyone know the name of that movie where it's about an cop called who's known as the "Iceman" an urban racing legend, and where brad pitt is the bad guy? Brad's only wish is to race the "Iceman" to see who's better. The only actor I remember is Pitt :P since I watched it as a kid
@USAon3 there was an episode of "Afraid Of The Dark" in the later seasons about a guy who has a muscle car, whih is actually a ghost. he meets two dudes also ghosts and they want him to drive their car against a truck driver they raced in the past, who is yes, a ghost as well. I forgot what kind of car they were driving.

i heard that the Charger was Elvis's car and that he drove it in the mopvie for the chase scenes.

I thought this was to glorify AMERICAN muscle cars.
This version of Gone in 60 Seconds is a CHEAP REMAKE. The 1974 original was done LIVE with REAL CARS doing REAL stunts.
That orange POS at 3:18 isn't a muscle car - it isnt even American! Plus the Charger is destroyed because Vin Dieseldyke can't handle all the power.
Where is Vanishing Point?
Where is Dirty Mary & Crazy Larry?
Where is Sugarland Express?
Where is Last American Hero?
TOTAL.
FAIL.

notice you said twin turbo inline 6 meaning its not stock,
the 426 Hemi has anywhere to 450 to 500 stock horsepower.
Chrysler advertised it as 425 but most dyno sheets show around 465 STOCK.
that straight 6 might have 250 stock, but i don't know the actual figures on the I6
