Don't listen to bands KNOWN for and DISTINGUISHEd by their spoken word/screaming/yelling vocals if you don't appreciate/like it. Usually when Screamo bands put together those melodic sounds at the beginning with powerful, loud, screaming it kind of ruins the song for me but with this one its fucking amazing :)
Likewise I've found a lot of my favorite bands throughout the 2000's online. I've also found many bands on here I've loved already for convenience sake or for live/rare stuff.
I've loved old emo kinda stuff, but never heard this one until semi recently.

Unrequited love is a VERY common theme to a song. Yet, this band - well any skramz band, can convey and express their words and lyrics to the point where it strikes a chord that makes me all sentimental and conscientious; with a hint of bittersweet nostalgia. No matter what the songs may be about, there is always meaning and that's what makes this good music.
last fall i was going through the hardest time of my life and i started listening to these guys. this cd motivated me completely to keep going and push on. i found comfort in the lyrics knowing someone was going through a similar situation.

@killwhitneydead666 :D yeah, people seem to make that distinction, but i'm guessing you are talking about their earlier ablums/EPs?? The "changing of times" albums was more hardcore than deathcore, lol, considering all the lyrics were about his trouble he was going through with his now wife. I honestly haven't really listen to much of their earlier stuff or read lyrics, but i know it was heavy.

@bearblaster420 its funny that you have no idea what your talking about. cries of the past and act of deppresion by underoath are two really awesome and heavy albums that were definately metal. there new stuff may suck but they were a totally different band back then so before you get on youtube and try to be the cool guy and cuss people out do some research man.But you are right about one thing the saddest landscape sounds nothing like old underoath.

@benvsf I am familiar with their old stuff. it's still poser-ass christian straight edge hardcore, it is alot better than their new stuff, it is slightly heavier.....doesn't mean it's metal.

Underoath and all the bands that sound like them aren't emo. You said Rites of Spring "actually didn't suck" and they're one of the most boring emo bands.
