@amdaniels11 Try do no underestimate you enemy, especially MiG-29smt-OVT model. also do not forget R-73 missiles (enter in the service much before AIM-9x version) and HELMET mode on the Russian planes. American plane's have helmet mode also but you can not sustain more then 5g with that big stuff. And final stuff is this is test-bed for the engines, when they finish the testing they will sell only engines not hole plane.
Funny how everyone thinks that the MIG is the end all to fighter planes. I would like to see a squadron of of these take on a squadron of F-22s. Gimme a break. In close combat there may be a slight maneuverability advantages but their overall capabilities are not the same.
Off course it's not the same. F22 is supposed to replace F-15 as air superiority fighter. MIG-29/35 is short range fighter/interceptor. It's meant to be used at medium and short ranges. In WVR battles MIGs will have an edge on the F22, despite stealth, because they will use IRST and the off-bore sight missiles guided by the pilots helmet.
Nobody disputes F22s stealth and it's BVR capabilities.

Try looking up the F-15 active, the F-16 matv, the F-18 harv, the x-31 and x-29 projects done by NASA and the USAF in the early 90's. The OVT is based on the f-16 matv's engine design. The US was doing this 15 years before the Russians. If we actually put the active, harvm and matv into production no one would be ever looking at the OVT and saying wow.
They used the info from those tests and designs and put them into the F-22. The F-22 is all that and a bag of chips. Im sorry if the US dont show off what our planes are capable of at airshows. The US doesnt have to show people what they can do in order to scare people, their aircraft record speaks for itself.
1 x AIM 9X up the keester and nice fireworks display :-) score: 1, Mig 29 vector thrust score: 0

Objectively, at Mig-29 OVT (and Mig-35) is not present contenders in manoeuvrability.

Step #1: Underestimate your enemy
Step #2: Get your ass kicked
Step #3: Forget what you learned and return to step 1
