You're totally right. Wars are unnecessary, and yes, every side of the conflict lost (resources, and what is more important- people).

But some wars are necessary. I.e. when the country is under attack it needs to ressist. Or when some sick dictator seize the power and starts to eliminate the ppl.

As much as I like this song, I can't help but think it parodies ministry...i.e. it's about churches cloaking their financial interests and gaining membership while simultaneously preaching the goodness of God. It's cynical...but not completely off point, unfortunately often relevant even (especially) today. It's a legitimate shot at the organizations that profess the faith I happen to love.

It's no longer revolutionary(Bob Dylan), nor is it thought-provoking(Pink Floyd), and it's certainly couldn't be considered an anthem(CSNY) or rife with angst(Pearl Jam/Nirvana/AiC). Not all music today sucks, but let's face there is a lot of bad music out there these days. I'm very open-minded and love exploring all genres, and still find it difficult to like a lot of songs of today, it's like something's missing many times--it may be the voice, the lyrics, the melody, the rhythm, who knows. Finding songs that have it all and make you go "Wow!!!!" is more and more difficult as time goes by.
