  • ...damn ...what a stage performance ...!!!

  • just genius ! but i wouldnt let Byrne babysit !

  • wow, its been 27 years and I've grinned the last 5 mins or so. Brilliant. Thanks.

  • A master of disguise reference? Seriously, what the fuck is wrong with you?

  • He's turtley enough for the Turtle Club >_<

  • does anyone know why he's wearing that massive suit? some kind of social commentary?

  • @TheDanification Because it's cool to dance in a big suit.

  • This could very well be the most ingenious, artistic concert of all time. The whole dvd just rocks.

  • People think that Michael Jackson had the best moves on stage, in the 80s. Actually, it was David Byrne.

  • david byrne fan for life =)

  • 4 People are making sense

  • Why are many live concert segments disappearing?

  • i effing love the talking heads and all of their wackiness.

  • che miticoni!

  • GENIUS! where has this type of musical genius gone?

  • One of the best songs ever!!!!

  • TOP PERFORMANCE!

DAVID BYRNE ROCKS!!, would anyone prove otherwise? (not likely!)

  • Andeh loves mee.

  • Long live the Big Suit!

  • Big David Byrne would have made a good candidate for the superman movies.

  • not bad for a wee scots lad fae dumbarton.

  • Mad suit...Mad dance...Pure Genius!

  • First time I saw this was on Vh1 Classics "the Alternative" I may have been intoxicated, and Byrne's suit really got to me. so much greatness.

  • class..

  • love it

  • that really is the greatest suit ever conceived, he looks like one of those blow up arm dancers at 3:28

  • @Adamboms lol they probably had that in mind haha this is the prototype, till they realised....wait a minute these suite aren't meant for men, no no no lets let the wind give them a try kwakwakwa

  • Is it just me, or does he look like Sheldon Cooper from 0:30 to 0:42?

  • 4 people suck dick

  • Why the big suit?

  • @ebhandparker To make his head look smaller

  • @soaringvulture talking heads a great band

  • @ebhandparker To make his head look bigger.

  • Spouse and I watched Stop Making Sense for the first time today. Where the hell were we in the '80s? This band is beyond great! And yes, Tina is gorgeous.

  • This is hands down the best and most psychedelic song written in the '80s (Tom Waits aside...)

Too bad in the '80s they didn't know how to jam. They could have made the jam from 4:14 to 4:56 go for at least another 5 minutes...

Fortunately 25 years later a bluegrass band figured all that out ;-)

  • @ObamaJoker i can think of one or two bands that were "jamming" in the 80s...

  • @raqamole Jam bands were "jamming" in the 80's, that's about it, besides the Allmans and a couple others. Most bands would show up and play the album and then see ya later, goodnight...

Obviously by "jamming" I am referring to several 15 to 20 minute songs per set, 2 to 3 sets per night, or one 3 or 4 hour set-not a 3 to 5 minute guitar solo followed by a 2 to 3 minute drum solo.

  • What an amazing performance... pure perfection!

David Byrne and his crew nailed it!

  • LEGEND

  • Brilliant....fun.....stands the test of time....gets better with age......the suit, ah the suit!

  • in love with Tina Weymouth. That is all.

  • Cool, Tina is playing the bass line on a Realistic Concertmate-MG1

  • 4 people just got dumped...

  • Ah, the manic genius of David Byrne and THAT suit !

  • lol, I just love it when David put the mic up to the random flashlight/cameraman guy at 4:02. Goes to show some stars have the capacity to share the spotlight with other people.

  • talking heads pure entertainers

  • Hard to believe those 4 dislikes weren't accidents. I understand there are many and varied tastes but this song gives me goosebumps. Love 'em, how could you not?

  • @hadriewyn Do you know who Kim Gordon is? Or Kim Deal?

  • @seandunx D'arcy Wretzky man.

  • 4 people Stopped Making Sense

  • Love a geek! I'm amazed they got such great sound at a live show, usually it's all muddled up. Demme did a great job of capturing that show.

  • I truly miss the strange brilliance of Talking Heads and those bands of the 80s that were unafraid of being genuinely original and more than a little strange.....

  • David for president!!!!!!!!!

  • @jachirinos he's a scot, he's inelligable.

  • David :-) hor dir mal Youtube.com smallwoodization an herzliche grüße von Neosoma

  • David Byrne wants you to sing at 4:05

  • WHO ARE THE FOUR NUMB SKULLS WHO DIS LIKE THIS

  • listening to this in headphones, i can only imagine the stereo effects were done post using a multitracked source - there is some real subtle panning for brilliant effect here. no way that was the live mix. man, what a great band.

  • He likes to wear suits a dead man wouldn,t be buried in

  • A genious stage performance. That was revolutionary.Awesome.

  • Nice suit!!!! I love it. David Byrne is the man...

  • only dave can make those moves look that fkn cool

  • David lynch, the director, missed an opportoooonity there, eh?

  • @makemeateeshirt The director was actually Jonathan Demme, who went on to win a best director Oscar a couple years later for Silence of the Lambs. You could be forgiven for the mistake, though, because Byrne's quirkiness shares much in common with Lynch and other 80's era misfits! God bless 'em, I want all of that stuff back!

  • Is the live version of this on the greatest hits album from one of the Stop Making Sense performances? Some of the lyrics and synth solos are different but it sounds like the same ensemble.

  • that's quite a big suit there

  • I wonder if Mr. Byrne ever gets stuck in doorways and narrow passages with those shoulders.

  • start at 3:15

  • i want dat suit

  • Epic Win!

  • Only 4 dislikes witn 200,000+ views shows how awesome this is!

    *Trolls hit the dislike button*

  • Crikey. Forgot how epic this was. Ok, that's it. Putting my Stop Making Sense DVD on the stereo now.

  • @Acheiropoietos There is japanese theatre that features huge clothes I think.

  • 3 people have.... stopped making sense :D good joke? Top rated comment?

  • so expressive in every way

  • ! TUNE !

Brilliant band and DB's onstage persona never ceases to amaze! I could watch and listen to him forever. That is, as long as he's performing, offstage it was excrutiatingly awkward, often unbearably so. But his social skills seem to have improved in his old age, good on him.

    Heads forever!

  • @insignificus too bad his improved social skills havent helped get the band back together.

  • @RnDnproductions

Part of me is holding out hope for a TH reunion, but another part of me NEVER wants to see that happen, if that makes sense...

  • @insignificus yes it makes sense (stop making sense), but why wouldn't you want them to get back together.

  • @RnDnproductions

Fear, man, FEAR OF MUSIC xD

Seriously, I'd love this band to get together again, at least for a few performances or even recording new material. The Heads deserve massive props and hordes of music nuts, both young and old, would LOVE to see them.

But unless DB has a massive change of heart, it's simply not going to work. Imagine them doing a tour and DB looking as if he's got a gun held to his head all the time...that would hardly make anyone re-live the MAGIC :-(

  • @insignificus true, but look up "talking heads rock and roll hall of fame", there performance in 2002.

  • @RnDnproductions

They could do it again if they really wanted to (ALL of them) :-) A few gigs with a lineup similar to the earlier ones, or with a bunch of new guest musicians - all these new artists/groups out there influenced by the almighty Heads, or whatever.

But I'm not holding my breath :-(

  • @insignificus me nether.

i know this has nothing to do with TH, but can you visit my channel, i just posted three new videos today and i want some views.

  • at 4:01, STOP MAKING SENSE.

  • Wie geil!!!

  • god fucking damn that is a hot fucking song

  • one of their better songs.

  • Tina is Bassalicious.

  • God like stage presence, genius, ultra original! Dont some people make you feel talentless.

Fair enough in this case i say!

  • he looks ike turtle

  • The Bollocks -way ahead of his day - a legend -i want that suit !

  • he's actually a really good conventional singer...

  • I just love the part where he jokingly hold the microphone out to the camera. 4:07

  • 2 slippery people think that it's better without a girlfriend

  • i miss the days when you could mainstream by doing something completely different

  • @zues007 So true... :(

  • There it is...

  • ***** excellent

  • I am going to wear that suit to my next interview. If they do not hire me, then why work there?

  • @darkwhitedirewolf Haha. Not a job worth doing clearly. How did it go by the way???

  • @darkwhitedirewolf hahaha that made my laugh out loud, thank you for that

  • @darkwhitedirewolf I would hire you the second you walked into my office.

  • pure genius

  • I should have went into the theatre that day this was playing shame on me.I love, love Talking Heads oh well..Big suit is a classic.

  • so gangster

  • @ryantherocker74 lol No fair, that's what I'm gonna dess up as!

  • 4:07 is good

  • Seriously shaggable David Byrne. And how he can dance!

  • perfect

  • perrfect

  • Among my fav fag performers! Have enjoyed this since 1st viewing in 1st theater release in 1984.

    Byrne is a near genius!

  • <3 suit ^^

  • David Byrne is floppy.

  • Absolutely marvellous ! Thanks a lot for sharing :-)

  • I cannot stop watching this and Life During Wartime just for David Byrne's 'dancing'. It's hypnotic.

  • This is a masterpiece

  • Memories... I saw this tour on its Chicago stop summer of 83... sigh...

  • So Freakin AMAZING!..That band is SO Tight!...So well Produced!...the 80s were such an AMAZING EXCITING TIME!....I frickin LOVE That SUIT!!..OUTTA CONTROL!!!

  • gets my blood pumping

  • Totally fantastic only the best for talking heads they r not just a studio band they r ace live I seen them in 1986 they played note for note on stage I listen to this song at least 3 times a week in the car played very loud cheers for the upload

  • oversized suit, it's funny. it's funny because it's ah, bigger than ah.. you know, a normal suit

  • A complete fruitcake. What in the world is he doing?

  • @reziztanze What is he doing? He's making the world interesting, that's what he's doing! Life must be very confusing for you. You poor joyless soul. Keep listening, maybe it's not too late.

  • @reziztanze Do you even know who David Byrne is? How well respected he is in the music community? The man was revolutionary and defined the 80's music scene. You're busting him because you don't like his suit? Do a little research and learn something. You don't have to like his style but you have to be an idiot to not recognize the man and the bands enormous talent and contributions.

  • @Tigerroar88 I know who he is. But he's still acting stupid on stage. He also has a big silly suit on. Sadly, stupid music reigns in today's world as art.

  • The most polished, deeply thoughtful and incredibly stinky stanky funky record of all time.

  • I wish these days we had music like this.

  • I was there. I LOVE this band. David is a genuis.

    4:40- more cowbell!

  • i am in love with this man!!!!!!! he is so cool! the way he does his performance is just out this world! he knows how to take you to the next level!!!!

  • The Big Suit rules all!

  • The 80s were so cool..love the music of that decade.

  • @robertwadehall couldn't agree more - so different and original and real music not samples and computer generated

  • i love this song, david bryne is a nut!! i love thier music.........

  • Absolutely brilliant! I really do miss these guys....

  • Coolest Nerd o Earth!!
