Along with Alitalia these were political moves to win right-wing votes in the south during the election. Italians are ignorant, lazy and/or a combination of both. Italians beleive everything that's on TV and what politicians say. Look at Alitalia, ICI (property taxes), fiscal federalism, mortgage relief etc... this is true ignorance and the Italian population does nothing to change!
