  • Not just in Japan -- there are several US-based taiko groups, too, and I'm sure there are more around the world. I'm learning taiko with a group in Houston, and it's just as fun as it looks. =)

  • Cool! Post a video... ONLY IN JAPAN is just the name of this series I do...

  • Comment removed

  • @Prepoceros : Not in Japn only, but really GOOD in Japan only !

I also play Taiko, in Belgium :) To play is just one of the greatest things in life.

  • Very cool - I love Taiko, but I never saw that move before with them body-slamming to fight over a drum.

  • Yeah, me too. I think the HS kids may have made that up. Looks like fun though!

  • Nice! Love taiko! Have you been to Kodo's 3-dat concert in Sado in August?

  • wow that was very cool!

  • Love that taiko. Didn't you film one once before at the beginning or end of a foot race?

We're lucky enough here in HI to have Kenny Endo's dojo. A few months ago I went to a small show he did at our local library. In the past I thought that playing the various drums was mostly physical effort but was I wrong. He tried to teach me something very very simple but my mind just wasn't up to the task. The drummers know what to beat by remembering various complicated chants. aloha :) ray

  • mikma was here

  • i love this kind of music, ive seen KODO two times here in munich, really great.

about the video-quality... i guess the low sound quality on youtube just doesnt show how loud those drums are, you can imagine it when you pay attention to how silent the flute is in comparison, and some of the deep frequencies could also be missing.

  • i wish we had such festivals in staid old victoria.

  • Thats cool!

  • drums is like the one musical instrument that is found in nearly every culture around the world. To me drums are a link between all peoples, its really hard to get out what i am sayin.

  • you did just fine.

  • Have you tried upload in HD, yet? That should help the quality issues. :D

  • That is so cool! Thank you for sharing some Japanese culture with us Asian deprived and starved people!

Cool processional you were in. Was Maggie scared by the noise? Violet is scared just listening to this!

  • Hi Victor-san,

Sweet vid sir!! it's cool you got to be in the festival.

  • Just like the Taiko Drum Master game!

  • I saw this done in Disney World at the Epcot Center.

    lol

  • Great Footage. Was that heavy??? :)

  • VERY! Shoulders were very sore the next day!

  • Very cool Thank you...

  • Cool...I've never wanted to go to Japan until you started posting these videos!

  • YT has done something funky, my videos are clear as bell on my computer and I'm uploading them at the usual size, etc... that I always use and they look super sucky posted. I'm sure its not that there is anything wrong with your camera!

  • My coworker has another camera that is SO much better!

  • too much dancing - not nearly enough prancing!

  • Wow, that was so cool!

  • nice video victor. are you pretty famous in your hood?

  • Is this in Gifu, Nagoya? I think I went there with my cousin. I might be going back to Japan this summer for vacation.

  • Very cool! That palanquin (or whatever it is) looks mighty heavy!

  • The Japanese have us beat on team work.

  • i probably will mispell this but have you ever tried 'fugu'? is it worth the money to try it?

  • Yep. Tried it... Nah..not that special.

  • As always cool stuff man!

  • It's like John freakin' Bonham!

  • GREAT to see you right at the end and the music dovetails perfectly!

  • Did Gary record a new acoustic version of your theme song or did you have that sitting around for a while?

  • There are 2 versions.

  • Very cool and kind of funny. You couldn't seem to take your eyes off the camera - a natural born YouTuber ;)

  • The quality isn't that bad at all. I don't see pixelated movements =)

  • I thought you lived in Neberaska?

Sweeet lettin us go for a walk with you.

Your everyday is our ( my ) dream.

I love to travel to exotic lands and meet people who are of an ancient culture....

  • Kansas.

  • that was wicked, very cool moves!

  • ditch the black sneakers LOL

  • Cool Taiko drumming, i know what you mean about the vid convert to YT. I responded with a vid i took in Feb. Later

  • Sorry the quality is so bad!!!!

  • What were you carrying at the end? Why where those two guys pushing backwards?

  • It's part of the dance, so to speak. Push and pull.
