Im not quite sure if I like Windows 7. Comparing 64bit Windows 7, to 64bit XP.....  XP is faster.

As I said, Vista would be great, but Microsoft went TOO far and thus made the whole thing suck. Windows 7 is Vista without the bad part. Crysis on Mac? Wouldn't you need to dual boot? Yup, OpenGL is good, but windows has it too, WITH the addition of DX10 and both OS have 64 bit. Ive used leopard, and it was great, but then I got windows 7 7068, and I didn't boot into leopard for months, then I got Windows 7 7100 (RC) nad I sold my MacBook for a new Gateway desktop PC. Never goin back to mac. I spent some time as a Linux Junkie, too...

Unix is good, and has the most programs, most freedom for the user, but the commercial software for Mac and Windows is almost never for Linux :( So after that i got a mac, installed windows on it during Win7 beta test, and sold the damn thing for a Desktop PC. and developers then to aim at DX10 versus openCL. DirectX is Microsofts monoploy on the gaming industry, if they used OpenCL - everybody could play but no..I'm using DirectX10 on my stationary PC and I can't say it's so amazing as he says it is. Believe me, I know what i'm talking about. Vista had a lot of potential, but Microsoft whent too far with it, produced many compatibility issues, and thus fucked the whole thing up. On a lower end PC, vista would just lag. Mac OS X had no potential from the start. OS X is a great operating system, yes, but the are few programs on it. Yes the software that comes with a mac (iMovie, GarageBand, etc.) works very well, but there is a lack for third party software if you don't like theres.

Windows 7 was made to work much better than anything else, and it does. Mac's new Snow Leopard is very nice, but Mac will always lack the massive amount of third party software, will always suck for gaming, and will be less popular. Windows 7 has made much improvements over Vista, and just works better. They made win7 to use less recources, and work better on all machines. If i get a Desktop PC with a Simple graphics card and 17 inch monitor. It will be pretty cheap, and work well. Windows 7 is actually different from Microsoft's previous operating system. It has brand new Core which makes Windows 7 fastest Operating System ever. Normally when I first used Windows Vista, I was disappointed. I didn't expect something delinquent, slow and bulky. Software update installs the update and then if needed a message will pop up saying that you'll nee to restart and you are given the choice to restart or the other button says not now. So yes, software update can postpone updates if you're in something important. I don't see how system preference is a cluttered mess if you only have one window pane open at a time, where windows will have multiple ones open( having less makes it less cluttered). The mac UI is very responsive.

It takes exactly 4 clicks to disable automatic Software Update. It takes exactly 5 clicks to set it to Monthly.

Software Update has a big "cancel" button in the middle and if you click it it takes about a quarter of a second to quit.

I would love for you to show me how W7 is better. I have leopard and W7 on my Macbook pro and can honestly say that Leopard is just over all better. Aero is great for productivity. The window snapping, peek, and the tabs on the taskbar icons are a godsend when multitasking.

Its like I been saying, why wait. All those features has been on the Mac OS for a while, like hiding all apps but one, live preview in the dock and expose for multiple windows. For me Leopard is less annoying then windows. Windows must play a sound for everything and show annoying balloons. The best annoyance is Control panel with it opening multiple windows and having some of those windows not getting space in the task bar so now it comes hard to find them. Windows is a cluttered mess.

I just giving constructive criticism, Control panel and other windows apps don't need to be cluttered and over complicated.

By preview in the doc i meant that if you minimize the window it shows the ICON as a preview of what it is. Expose shows a bigger preview of all your open WINDOWS and not just one APP at a time like vista's SMALL previews for each APP. My opinion is Expose works so much better then vistas preview.

Apple didn't steal the OS X dock from Windows, It came from the Next OS they purchased back In 1997 that eventually became what we know today as OS X. BTW, Mac OS X doesn't have 2 toolbars. It has one menu bar at the top. It's a matter of preference which one you like best. I personally prefer OS X's way, but I have nothing against the Windows Start Menu

you are right it doesnt matter for two reasons... One because its inaccurate and two because its better than the osx dock regardless, so it was an irrelevant point altogether for you to make. The dock is terrible I dont see how or why anyone would want to use that, its finicky and sloppy. The great thing about the task bar in windows is everything is in one place and it stays in place you dont have to chase anything with your mouse while it expands and changes size for no apparent reason.

I tried Windows 7 , its an ok OS . But certtanly better then how Vista started . But is still went back to XP . My PC is old . over 5 years now not touched or updated . Everything is old :/ But still , its nice . But Microsoft should defenatly start listening to the majority . Cause Microsoft is losing their upper hand . Apple is becoming more popular . I defenatly would want to go and try a Mac . Cause im tired of these bugs . low speed and so on .:/ annoyng

Here's an easy list:

1. Clean install Windows, preferably with a straight-up, store bought disc. OEM (Dell, HP) recovery discs are filled with trials and that kind of crap.

2. Let Windows find all of your drivers. This way, you don't carry around clunky apps (like Dell's Wi-Fi utility) and just let Windows do the work.

3. If the drivers can't be found, you can download them. Extract the files and point Device Mgr. to them. Use the installers only as a last resort.

That's pretty much it.

I am trying to install the Windows 7 RC Via Virtual PC, and it keeps saying it can't find a driver, during installation. Do you know where to find it?

Probably because Virtual PC doesn't support Windows 7 properly. It's now been discontinued, and no longer updated.

Windows 7 works great on Sun's FOSS VirtualBox.

Windows 7 Build 7000 than

Windows 7 Build 7077 and than

Windows 7 Build 7100 which I downloaded today and I use it for 1 hour.
