  • the girl on 0:21 was stupid she should of looked at her pocket (room) for her horse

  • Remind me never to compete there.. Ground looks alittle slippery :s

  • Lots of bad riding, some clearly due to slippery track (little sand), but that last but one - dude, the horse went rodeo!

  • in the video there were a few horses falling at the same barrel in the same event.. does anyone have an idea if those were rider errors or was there an issue with the layout of the dirt...

  • Some ppl were just STUPID

  • im 11 and i think maybe since its all at the same arena that riders there may be buzzing their horses to try to get them to start faster, like they do at racetracks.maybe not all of them, but i find it very funny that its all happening there.

  • The hardest part about riding is the ground

  • some ppl lost balance

  • damn, a lot of bad things happen at that one place.

  • If you want a good barrel horse tack to my aunt Jill

  • People say horseback riding is just sitting on a horse, but a lot of the time you are on the ground too.

  • You can definitely tell which horses actually care about their riders because they check to see if they are okay when they fall off. Others just zoom off right away and not look back! HAHA! SUCKERS! xD

  • Wow .....there a couple of really good horses here that realize when the rider falls off the race is over and they stop to avoid injuring them. That is excellence in training. Unfortunately there is no other way for a rider to train than to ride, ride, ride. And in barrel racing training, you WILL, at some point, take a fall.

  • wait how can that many people fall off of a horse at the same arena!

  • ahahaha that is KARMA !!!!

  • i remember getting thrown off my horse only because i went a diffrent way then always starting at the right side and i didnt sit on time X3 i was so emberrased

  • all of these mishaps are at the same arena....

  • Comment removed

  • So what you guys are saying is that they cant ride? Well by the video i can surely say they absolutely CAN ride. They know how!! Or they wouldnt be on the back of a horse. What if they got nervous? Huh? Answer that. They can ride. Accidents happen. And horses can act up and not be in the mood. Can any of you honestly admit that you have had your share of accidents? I can because EVERYONE even proffesionals DO mess up. Nobodys perfect. Nuff said. (: Have a good day now. xD

  • and these are all amazing examples of why you NEED to rate your horse before a barrel...

  • Wow restpect at 2:49 !!

  • @ 2:50 lol

  • I WANT to start bareel racing.

  • i barrel race myself and i'm a better barrel racer than them. my horse would also never buck with me

  • The guy at the end was like" Oh shitt... This horse is crazy.. maybe if I run then walk reallll slow it won't run me over."

  • I say that stuff like this happens im a barrel racer myself and i have had many things like this happen to me and its really no ones fault when a horse falls its becuase they lost their footing

  • I find it kind of funny that when a rider falls off while barrel racing, the horses keep running. What does that tell you about the riders relationship with their horse. The horses obviously aren't spooked. These ppl should learn how to ride and they need to stop endangering their horses

  • @Ih8TiffanyG they can have the best bond in the world and the horses would still run after the rider fell off. when their adrenaline is going and they are running thats what their mind is set on. i mean my horse doesnt do that but i know of a lot of peoples horses that do and they have such an inseperable bond with them.

  • Ok so half of these people lean too much foward my instructor tells me to sink into my saddle also your not really suposed to stand up.

  • I have a quick question. when you boot up your horse (front and back) does it protect their legs when they suffer falls like these??

  • Why are they all in the same arena???? Must be abad one!!!

  • I wish I could tell every single one of these riders how much they suck. None of them deserve horses. You don't run a horse straight at a barrel then expect it to slide around the barrel, that's when they fall. You also don't just run barrels 24/7 that's why they're sour. AND you sit your ass down and go around the barrel, not fall and yank on their face when the horse was doing its job. None of them need horses.

  • Awwk moment when more than half of these people could have stayed on there horses if they were actually taught how 2 ride a horse! :s Sorry to say but thats just pathedick

  • the girl on 2:58 wouldve won saddlebronc

  • did all those accidents happen at that one arena at once

  • Comment removed

  • Horse:Take that person!

  • terrible!

  • i dont think it was the people or the horses fault cause all o these were at the same place. if you notice almost all the horses slide at about the same spots. the first barrel they have to go around , its really hard to make that sharp turn out of the gate to that barrel. also, maybe the flooring in the ring was more moveable then others. this could have caused everyone to slide

  • I was speed racing one time and i lost ny stirrup and after we came out of the gate my horse wouldnt stop O.o i thought i was going to die but she stooped at the trailer.... i didnt fall off though :)

  • LOOK, to anyone that blames the rider or the horse. sometimes things like this happen its just luck, dont go sayin how the rider needs to learn how to ride or a horse needs to be trained right. Some of the best riders in the world take bad falls and some of the best trained horses screw up now and then. And to you that dont no crap about racing, Alot of barrel horses know whats coming and gets excited and looses control. So dont go bad mouthing us racers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @cowgirl1996ify thats right you go girl!!! The other day i was a benefit horse show and my horse through me in the egg and spoon class i broke my arm and now have a sist on my wrist and after it wwas over and i came back to i waws mad that i missed my run...RESPECT

  • r people so retarted that they will spur and whip the crap out of theres horses ... let me tell you guys a quick story my trainer trained a fineshed barrel horse she went to a copmotion and took reseve and she troted the whole pattern people laught and asked if she was a joke as she was trotting along her and her horse calm with her horse in frame(low head set) and that horse galloped home and they got second best time. that goes to show if u acualy train you horse corectly you will win

  • Well, its not really that. People push these horses to much. They dont seem to understand that they need to keep them in check and to have them built for this. People can be great riders on here and horses are kinda like us. They can be agitated or too excited which happened to a lot of these or they pushed their horses or they didnt train fully. People can be messed up a lot of times. But it is the horse as well.

  • These riders suck. If you can't keep your butt in the saddle then don't ride. I don't care who you are, I will tell you straight to your face that you shouldn't run barrels if you are a bad rider. I hate that more than anything in the world. People hurt and kill horses because they want the pride of calling themselves a barrel racer but they can't even go around the first barrel. Stupid people.

  • The biggest problem in 2 or 3 of the arenas was from was the crappy footing. If I was running somewhere & not one of the first two to fall/slip, I'd of withdrawn and have done just that. My old horse and I ran at an arena with crappy footing years ago and were the first to nearly go down. Next rider did go down. Let's just say, I may have paid for another barrel class, but figured vet/hospital bills OW would out way any money that could be won or entries lost. "Stupid Should Hurt"' J. Wofford

  • I think it looks like these horses werent warmed up or any thing before they came. And the riders got a little too excited. lol

  • My favorite is when they would fall and the horses kept going like they were just gonna finish the course on their own, hilarious. These are really some terrible riders. The first time I ever rode barrels I got a chance on a horse that had been a national champion barrel horse and the owner's advice? Sit as deep as you can and enjoy the ride, he knows exactly what to do. These people need to trust their horses and work on their own seat!

  • I like how the guy falls off before he competes... Shows how much his horse trusts him...

  • gosh! most of these were rider faults.....and no one them have relationships with their horses because after falling the horses booked it away!

  • @dutchwarmblood2love i agree with u

  • @LiveForHorses2636 at least someone does:)

  • or have a little more balance

  • thats why they should wear helmets

  • People need to seriously learn how to ride.........

  • Scary. As. Hell.

  • lol falling sucks,, but racing is fun and enjoying for both horse and rider:)

    i love it!

  • that has to hurt

  • wow they all suck :(

  • These people should learn how to ride first. I am a peson that see a peasron that rodes like this and its a shame. Im sorry to say it but its retarded by doing this.First thing is that people should have a little bit of a lose rein so that they arent hurting the horses mouth. My horses always have lose reins but they dont get to lose that if i fall off they wont step on it. I can see where maybe a horse starts bucking maybe you will fall off but when your going around the barrel no.

  • That looks painful!!!!

  • None of these idiots should be allowed to come near a horse again X(

  • All these riders are awful... Its like they raise out of the saddle instead of sitting deep around a turn... And one thing that would give them nicer turns is if actally they has more control of the horse and tightened their reins just a little... most have too loose of reins.

  • @SwEeTsKiLlS235 I agree, 99% of them are all rider errors, either they werent prepared, or something...

  • i no what you mean.............. i ride english i usually am in the jumpers in shows so it looks weird when i c people riding with out an helmet

  • All those falls look like rider error. They are all lucky that they came away without a head injury. Stupid to not wear a helmet regardless of sport. Any type or riding is just as dangerous as any other type or riding. Look at Courtney King.

  • They're leaning in when the horse turns which throughs it off ballance! They're suppose to stay straight!!!

THEY COULD SERIOUSLY INJURE THEIR HORSE!!!!!

  • Thats what i fear the most when im running too.

  • I agree the riders should be wearing helmets. We have to remember our horses are powerful animals and in any event where it is at all possible to get hurt we should protect not only our animals but ourselves as well. We always assume things are gonna go right but we all know things happen.

  • Comment removed

  • they should be wearing helments its there faul if they get an head ingery press on the thumbs up button if ya agree with me

  • @iamhorsecrazy88 I agree but thats the thing about barrel racing you don't really need a helmet.

The main thing that ppl get wrong is sitting up straight in the saddle. They turn in too much which threw their horse off balance.

  • some of these falls look pretty lame. like the person just went around the barrel and wasnt paying attention to whut they were doing or actually trying to stay in the saddle.

  • i barrel race and the only reason y these things hapen is bc there riders just wanna winnn and then dont consintrate on wat they r doing and then they get nervouis and so doesnt the horse and everything goes down hill and also i do team penning and my friends horse took off and ran into my other friends horse and i will never forget that rip romeo<3

  • @45horse lover that's what I was thinking!! Lol cAuse it's the same banner where they all start! :P

  • My horses sometimes act up on occasions. But I've seen worst accidents then these, but these did take place in some serious falls

  • A lot of these wrecks are rider error...dang!

  • is all this at the same compettion?! because if it is what did they put in the horses water that morning?!

  • Comment removed

  • It's your chose to wear a helmet!!!!!! For me I wear one because.. If I didn't I won't be alive Probably today!!! SOMETHING to think about!!!!!

  • Yikes one time when I went into and my horse flung me off and I hit the barrel and almost cut the tip of my ear off and went back and there was an ambulance back there and they stitched me up then I went out and did another run and I got a standing ovation I got back and cried and the nurse said to me I was the tuffest cowgirl she had ever seen then my ear started to hurt very bad

  • 2:49 = VERY FUNNY ! =)

  • Perhaps wearing protective vests to help with impact into the gates or barrels (or ground) and helmets should be worn. Buuuuttttt they would never think of that because style (or tradition) far exceeds safety! :)

  • @chancieacres some of the reasons we dont wear helmets or other protective gear like that is becasue it gets caught helmets in barrel racing are so dangerous because if u fall and some how ur helmet gets caught u could be hung or break ur neck or bras get caught and our belts so helmets are more of a hazard than protection

  • @tateaverry I hate to say it, but that doesn't really make any sense, I think it's just an excuse that people make because they want maintain the traditional western look, rather than being safe. As helmets in western aren't the in "style". There are helmets you can purchase that come without a front "visor" - the only thing I can think of that might get caught on something (the barrel, you were talking about right?), but then again that part is a bit flexible and usually would not get caught.

  • @tateaverry You also mention a belt or bra and not wearing those because they get caught. That's strange. I can understand a belt perhaps (not sure what it would get caught on, the fence coming in and out of the arena?). But are you saying all the women take off their bras because of it being a hazard? Now that one I don't believe. Regardless if you're participating in a potentially dangerous sport like barrel racing, not wearing any protective gear is just not smart imo. We're entitled to those

  • @chancieacres im sayin that when u ride and u lean forward ur belt or bra sometimes gets caught on the horn im not saing we dont wear a bra or belt. im saying they just get caught but a hemet if it gets caught it can choke u or if u fall of and it gets caught it can hang u or break your neck thats why we dont wear helmets. not that they are outa style or its not tradition there a hazzard if you want u can chose to wear a helmet but its silly too! they dont get hung up on the anena ...!!!!!!

  • @tateaverry I get what you're trying to say. However, when you just said "you can wear a helmet though, but it's still too". It's never "silly too". It's smart, maybe not in barrel racing to certain people, but in general. The only thing there are are the what "ifs". What if that person who fell barrel racing and hit their head and now has a TBI could have prevented it by having a helmet on. Just saying in general.

  • @tateaverry The reason why I said tradition is because a lot of western riders who show that I talk to say they don't wear helmets because that's just not the western style or tradition. Most of those aren't barrel racers, so perhaps the barrel racers just have other reasons (like you stated).

  • Great video- horrible choice of music though...such an overused song

  • and btw barrel racing is NOT cruel.......some of the best barrel racing horses were the ones who LOVED doing it.... my horse loves barrel racing every time we get in te arena hes jumping, ready to go

  • 2:20 and 3:20 were like the only horses that didnt run away from the person riding them... lol XD

  • Comment removed

  • Exactly! Thank you quam!

  • if this is cruel, why do some horses just love to run? one of my horses is not happy unless hes running. if kicking them hurt, theyd let you know.;

  • Ok, Do you guys know how hard that ground is, even though it's sand and rubber footing. I barrel race, it's not so funny. Pierre, you may think it is cruel but when you whip the horse, it just make s them go faster, but it does seem cruel. After every barrel race they bathes though.

  • Sorry but I think Barrel racing is cruel...

  • that iss crazy!

  • Ok I'm a little confused. I am seeing people comment that it is not cruel and sometimes people fall off. I think the people saying barrel racing is cruel are saying it is cruel for the horses, not the rider. Honestly, no horse should be forced to gallop around barrels while being kicked like crazy and whipped. And they used spurs! I just don't understand this sport.

  • Barrel horse to bronco

  • ha you fail i hope all of the horses and riders are ok that is why you should always wear a helmet

  • Agreed. I will stand up for my sport. You people that think barrel racing is cruel..you obviously need to get out on a REAL farm and see how many people would love to be able to get on a horse and run. Some people are less fourtnate. wheather you like it or not, barrel racing is a sport. It has accidents. Every sport does. If you play softball you could get hit with the ball or hit line drived in the face, or even fracture your ankle by sliding into homeplate. Everything has a consquence.

  • God its like dega vu!

  • I love how at 0:48 the girl falls and the horse just walks away xD hahaha and it seems like all these falls are at the same place...sheesh bad day.

  • I love how at 0:48 the girl falls and the horse just walks away xD hahaha

  • @bubblegumz1000 hello. I'd like to let you know this isnt a bad sport(: barrel racing doesn't hurt the horse. if it did, the vet would say. The horse is bred to run... I love to just trot around 'em, too. though I've been in those races. it's a very fun sport! I suggest you try it, then comment back and tell me it's cruel.(: xxxxxxx -Katy

  • Bubble gum chick barrel racing is a sport it is just like football the horse and rider can get hurt just Like the player can I race my horses and it's no crule

  • poor horses...

  • this is a cruel sport! i mean like as in competitions and stuff!

i just do it for fun..like i trot slowly around them~

  • @bubblegumz1000 not a cruel sport... i barrel race.... stuff like this doesnt hurt the horse or the rider

  • @bubblegumz1000 i will stand up for my sport

  • @bubblegumz1000 exactly how i feel about this sport. Those turns are too sharp and could hurt a horse's neck. :( Poor horses.

  • @SoloDarkness55 These horses are bred for this and quite well trained. This does NOT hurt them in anyway! If anything it's hard on the riders. Vet's word. :)

  • @bubblegumz1000 It's not cruel. If this is cruel then jumping is cruel too. But, they are both still competition sports. And quite safe when conducted correctly.:)

  • @dertrix37 sometimes its cruel

  • Another video of people flopping around in the saddle like idiots! AND if you tip over a barrel is it really necessary to keep whipping your horse and kicking him! Oh and my horse is bucking but I want that first so lets keep on kicking him and then people wonder why they fall off. Go back take some lessons and WEAR A HELMET!

  • All I see is a bunch of idiots trying to show off, with no control and endangering not only there life but the life of the poor horse.

  • cant wait my beautiful 7 year old is soo close to becoming a pro but she needs to dig her but in and im smart enough to wear a helmet my head wont get hurt bad and she nice we dont run her unless practice befor a show and at the show soo she dosnt freak out just to run

  • horses don't like white people

  • oh the love of barrel racing:)

  • Makes me afraid to barrel race my pony. Haha! I wanna start gaming her, but after viewing some of these it makes me skeptical.

  • @JumpingPerfection121 dont base your opinions on these people. theyre flopping around in the saddle and have total chicken arms. if you know how to ride, you're definitely not going to turn out like these people.

  • @yoitstess Ok! It seems like a lot of fun, but my mom doesn't support me either. She says it's trashy and too dangerous. But I don't think so. I want to so badly.

  • @JumpingPerfection121 you should if you want to! its definitely not trashy. and yeah, it can be dangerous, but all events involving horses are.

  • there people arent checking and slowing there horses when there turning witch causes them to trip and fall and you have to sit down and have weight in your feet and by the way i am a barrel racer, i do barrels poles goat tying flag racing straight aways and figure eight stake

  • @15ilovecg That and they are balancing using the reins and the horses mouth.

  • @JackaCrack1 i cant tell if youre supporting what you just said or saying its a bad thing. you should never balance yourself using the reins and the horses mouth. use your LEGS and the horn if need be.

  • @yoitstess I'm saying it is bad to use the horses mouth, in ANY sport whether english, western, whatever.

  • The girl at 0:16 cant ride...you're supposed to SIT going around the barrel...ha...

  • u dont deven know how to ride

  • When your going around A Barrel!!!!!YOu must sit down!!!!

  • its funny, because a lot of people om here cant ride.! -.-

  • Whatever arena this is must have some prettyyyyy crappy footing cause horses are falling left and right

  • Don't lean

  • I love how some of the horses still try to complete the course after they've left their riders. :')

  • most of those arenas have too much sand in them, thats why lots of the horses fell when they turned around the barrel.

  • those girls hav to really sit and lean in there seats when they turn then the horses bum will go down to and that stops them from fallen

  • Ohja hier sehen wir die anmut des Westerreitens. Hat jemand ne Kotztüte

  • When running at full speed , going around a barrel and falling and being trampled, yes it hurts, And Bad. Good video. !

  • Tht musta hurt, i hope i dnt fal when i barrel race.

  • Dang tht musta hurt..

i hope i never fall when i barrel race..

  • Dang tht musta hurt..

  • I DO NOT LIKE xXGlamriderXx at all your a stupid idiot you probably moved to the city city people are dumb and think everything we do is cruel like if we check our horse at the barrel or pull him into the turn OR SPUR HIM AROUND THE BARRELS you obviously didn't barrel race long because you have no commen sense ok......go do it again did you train your horse no I've trained every horse I have they are amazing creatures that love their job these are just freak accidents the horses got spooked or

  • look at 2:00 the horse kept going, he must have been vry well trained

  • what's up with the numbers , it's annoying .

  • haha i should give the video of me i was racer and my horse slipped i got hung up my horse did the race with me hung up gettin kickin the face at end my horse stoped and every body runs over to me i stand up and yell where the f*ck is my hat then i passed back out hahahahaha its pretty funny

  • Yikes, all the footing in those arenas look really deep

  • that can be some pretty fucking scary shit!!

  • and would everyone stop battling western against english. For fuck sakes it doesnt matter what you ride. You either have balance or you don't. It has nothing to do with the style of riding you choose. I was trained english, still ride english.. but compete western and trail western. Get your facts straight before you try and say "english is better" or visa versa. Grow up

  • ... actually those people can ride - but you clearly can't spell very well. Shit happens people. I'd love to see you get on a wired horse ready to race at top speed around barrels.. it's not as easy as you think. It's much harder than going over fences I can guarantee that. Some days my boy does barrels fine - others hes like a kid with adhd hyped up on sugar and can't focus on a thing except for running. If these people couldn't ride they wouldn't be competing.

  • The 3rd 2 Last Is Amazing How She Stayed On For That Long x )

  • If half of you people would actually look at this video carefully, you'd actually that 90% of the falls where all taken in the same arena. HELLO bad footing not horse nor riding error. I've been training barrel horses for years and have had many horses come through my barn, for you preppy English people, you try riding one of these horses with out getting in their face slighty. And yeah I can say preppy English cause I use to be one of you, all my training is based off the fundimentals Hunter

  • those people cant horsebackriding

  • Many of these riders need to take lessons. Walk, trot, canter, learn BALANCE and get off your horse's mouth! They have no business being in a show ring yet. Poor horses.

  • p.s 'barrelracinggirl1234' you know you can turn the volume down right.... or just mute it :\

  • Most of these riders have shite balance.

they need to go back to basics before racing.

its a risk not only to themselves but the horses aswell.

i commend those horses that remained level headed despite being reefed in the mouth and thrown off balance due to the incapabilties of their riders.

  • ..........are all these clips the same arena

  • this seems to be all at the same arena....note to self: don't ride at this arena.

  • I don't mean to be mean but I can't hear a thing cause the song made me go deaf in both ears.

  • @barrelracinggirl1234 if it's too loud...you're too old.

  • @SSCUltimateWoman Excuse me but i am young. I am not someone that listens to this kind of music so I don't know what it's like to listen to it. I listen to country music. Now I could get used to it if I keep on litening to that song. You can apoligize for calling me old.

  • If you don't know much about this sport it takes alot of heart. Train you horse and yourself to become one. You get problems like some of these clips no mater what. You always have to start somewhere. The more you an your horse are one the more you can be. It's not always the rider it depends on what is going on. This sport takes alot of work an I mean ALOT.

  • These riders suck and don't need to be riding. It's all the riders errors not the horse.

  • @rodeoeventer ik i hate it when the riders blame the horses!!!

  • @rodeoeventer these riders made mistakes but not everyone is perfect. That is why these are called accidents. Barrel racing is a hard sport and nor everyone is going to be perfect at is! They need to keep riding and work it out. you dont just quit if your not good at it! Everyone starts out not good, and some people will never be amazing at it.... but everyone makes mistakes.

  • These riders need to sit their asses down during the turns- there's no possible way to stay on when they lean inwards like that. Poor horses having their faces reefed on! Just fall off, dont use the reins to stay on! UGH

  • @xXGlamRiderXx I dare you to get on a horse at top speed and ride around barrels.. probably can't handle it. And you have to lean into the turns if you want your horse to make it around the barrel tight enough. Just like going around a corner on a motorcycle - you have to lean in order to get around. Get your facts straight - go to a rodeo or two and you will understand

  • @xK0x I don't claim to be a pro barrel racer, sweetie. I wouldn't want to anyways, it doesn't do any good for the horses mentally or physically to race around like that. I did barrel racing in the past, until I snapped out of it and realized how stupid it looks and is. I have gone to rodeos and wanted to smack half the riders in the face for overusing their curbs. Unnecessary infliction of pain=animal cruelty
