Your Sirens are fantastic, and your set up is inspirational!! So much so, that I am looking to get some, although they are'nt easy to come by in the UK!! Thanks for the videos!! ;)
My siren likes to hide in the plants, he's not fond of coming out unless there is food around or he's hungry. Also, I've heard varying thing about substrate, that large round stones are good because it won't hurt them when they rub against it. But my siren is on sand, and he also likes to dig under it. Seems fine so far. Nice, big looking sirens!
wtf, I posted two comments and only the second one showed up.. Blah, I posted a big long comment but it was over 500 charas... Damn these character caps on comment posting...
So far I haven't found a plant species that they will not destroy so all the plants in there are synthetic.
My sirens are actually very active and not shy at all. I was actually thinking of blk sand instead of the large polished stones I have but I am afraid of impaction via ingestion. And the way they eat I wouldn't be surprised if they swallowed a whole bunch of it.
my siren swallows sand when he gulps things, but the sand just flies out through the gills. basically, it filters the sand. doesn't actually swallow any of it, so that may not be a problem.
I have tons of live plants in my siren tank, my siren loves it. They haven't gotten destroyed yet. It wouldn't matter if they were destroyed, I started off with like 3 or 4 plants and some java moss, I put a light on the tank, and BOOM, plant growth explosion!

Oops forgot on how much. They were not expensive at all. About $15 per siren. It's their set-up that was expensive, mainly the chiller.
