  • It's hard to figure out which versions of his songs to buy. His voice was more or less amazing for 50 years, and there's at least 30 versions of most his songs.

  • i dunno if he sounds better live or in studio.......both so great!!!!! i love this version tho

  • im only 19 years old and a song 55+ years old has way more of an impact then anything of modern music. Mr. J.R. Cash was a true musician. RIP man in Black

  • most rappers now-a-days say they trace the roots of there lyrics back to Jhonny Cash

  • Well, if they freed me from this prison, if that railroad train was mine. I bet I'd move on a little farther down the line, far from Folsom Prison, that's where I want to stay. And I'd let that lonesome whistle blow my blues away!

  • Go to: Japanese Cavemen in F# minor

  • @misereremeideus51

Look, everybody! A narcissist who feels forgotten!

...If we only made sure that happened more often, the world would be a much better place...

  • johnny cash kix elvis' ass. thank god he quit speed when he did cause he could've been dead too, but he probably wouldn't hav landed on a toilet

  • He's probably the only Christian in the world who deserves respect. 'cause, well, he had a sense of understanding towards the world's "sinners", and that's really what Jesus was all about.

    At least, if he existed.

  • @TheFacelessActivist You make a very good point, I never thought of that

  • Hey Boilernctor,

There is a reason that you were in Folsom. It is a song that allows the listener to sharetthe thoughts and regrets of an incarcerated man who has committed a capital crime. It doesn't matter if there really is a train nearby,

  • @flipperdolfin This particular version here was recorded January 13, 1968, (my 7th birthday!) Live from Folsom Prison in Reprisa CA. By far the best version ever recorded of this classic song.
