Okay so if i lost my motherboard disc, this backing up of drivers will allow me to continue reformatting without the need of my motherboard disc right? Answer asap please and thank you! :)
I didn't watch the video (although i wish i had) i reinstaled XP my drivers where not on the reboot CD, i thought there were so long story short... i got no sound and i can't connect to teh internets, but everything else seems to work better than before (which was the whole point of re-installing)
so here is my question: where can i get the two drivers that im missing the audio and the... modem (i guess?) driver. i have an old laptop, where could i find it?

@TheAnythingUploaded theres an old school way to clone ur hard drive through command prompts. i dont know how to do it personally, as i just use easeus, but theres probably a tutorial on youtube somewhere, and if that works then u could just reformat the hard drive and reinstall windows etc etc n should all be fixed.
@TheAnythingUploaded uhh, not really, if u can get into windows then use easeus .. seems to be the easiest in my experience. but if ya cant get into windows.. not to sure. have u tried booting from the xp installation cd?
@kuzeth well i have a cd and it asks to format the partition which i would like to avoid as it says disk C: is corrupt. is there a way to force start the system with a software or something and thanks for the help so far
@TheAnythingUploaded no worries haha, doing the best i can. when u insert the cd does it give u an option to split it and install it into a different partition? because u could run the OS on a external hdd, then once youve done that, THEN begin to backup ur files from C drive onto the external then format c drive then do a clean install of windows. if anyone else has any suggestions feel free to jump in. dunno how accurate i am. but that MAY help u out a bit.

Great, but not as useful if your computer is running on a bootable OS. Ive tried Bart PE, WinPE, VistaPE, and MiniXP and this does not seem to work with any of them unless I run from the HDD.

@121Guns ok its easy, just youtube botting xp with usb, follow steps, or google it. its simple, it involves formatting the disk using the command prompt to make it bootable, the process is easy, just remember instead of burning a disc mount it.

I'm not altogether sure about everything you're saying here, but before you do any kind of OS installation, you have to get rid of viruses that are present. If you don't wanna pay a pro, reformatting your drive will (usually) get rid of them, but better yet, delete all partitions and start over from scratch. Trying to install anti-virus software on your own while a computer is already badly infected most likely won't take care of all (or maybe any) of the issues.

@epicskater2 Check to see if you have an original OEM drivers disk - There are usually 2 cd roms (one for windows XP operating system, one for drivers and extra software). Chances are, drivers for you wireless modem are on that second disk.

Hi, I recommended my friend this antivirus thing under googles pack because it removed some trojans from my computer, & his is in bad shape so I told him to download it too. hey, ive downloaded windows xp sp3 and i wanted to get something clear. To format my computer, all i have to do is put the cd with xp in and reboot my comp. Then, when it gos through setup, it will ask me if i want to format my drive, right? So can you explain in more detail what to do at this point? thanks

First you need put everything you need into Flash and drivers then insert Windows XP Install Disk then Restart till restart goes press any key select Clean install of Windows Xp and wait till it install's?

i have the actual xp cd and on my desktop the only important thing i have on it is my team fortress 2 on the rest is my game maker stuff wich is allready on my flash drive but steam will let me redownload tf2 no prob so....but the problem is it wont let me reformat it

I'm not altogether sure about everything you're saying here, but before you do any kind of OS installation, you have to get rid of viruses that are present. If you don't wanna pay a pro, reformatting your drive will (usually) get rid of them, but better yet, delete all partitions and start over from scratch. Trying to install anti-virus software on your own while a computer is already badly infected most likely won't take care of all (or maybe any) of the issues.

if u have ur hard drive partitioned it's not necessary to merge the C: partition with the others unless u want to lose all of ur data

@epicskater2 Check to see if you have an original OEM drivers disk - There are usually 2 cd roms (one for windows XP operating system, one for drivers and extra software). Chances are, drivers for you wireless modem are on that second disk.

I have a Laptop, HP pavilion dv2000, and for some reason when i start it it will say something like: Windows have encountered a problem, insert your reformat disc and follow the steps blablabla... And the fun is that when i bought the cpu it didnt come with any disks because the cpu is a "discfree computer" :(

Hi, I recommended my friend this antivirus thing under googles pack because it removed some trojans from my computer, & his is in bad shape so I told him to download it too. Well It froze his pc & now it won't start it shows the windows xp logo when booting & before it starts its restarting all over again. I feel guilty so Im wondering if I can use my windows xp recovery cds on his computer. his is also a windows xp but our pc's are a different brand, does this matter? Please help me, thanks.

hey, ive downloaded windows xp sp3 and i wanted to get something clear. To format my computer, all i have to do is put the cd with xp in and reboot my comp. Then, when it gos through setup, it will ask me if i want to format my drive, right? So can you explain in more detail what to do at this point? thanks
