@a222m A 500 watt key light easily overpowers the wimpy 30w output of the ring - there is zero spill on the front unless you're shooting a dark (candlelit scene) and even then a spill suppressor found in any keying software cleans it up nicely.
@a222m...I had seen someone order this before and they had a green light ring. When I looked through the camera, the person was totally engulfed in green and to top that off, their eyes too had turned green. The light that was emitted did not look as green as they show on here.
The fact that you don't have any more color spills is great, but you might have other problems to deal with, as eliminating the blue/green-ish hue which is cast on the subject, because it is right in front of a ... umm... blue/green light source.

How do you set the light in order to get an even lit background? Do you use any kind of reflexion panels? Or you just spend more time to fix any variations in post?
i realy need that for outdoor chromakeying. Cause a character is better awesome lighting with the real light of the sun, and with this in background it's very easy to rotoscope.
ok all of this is good but u need to appear in the backround to make it look more real. to do that u have to shrink yourself in the software and you can do that
how do you avoid the light ring reflecting in eyes, Spectacles, belt buckles, silk etc which would end up being keyed?
Do you need to drown the subject in light to remove the light rings light on the subject or can you have the flexibility to have dim moody lighting on the subject too?
tht is SOOOOO not cheap i have a better chance buying a muslin green screen, theres no way i'm buying a 2,700 dollar thing if i can just buy a 100 dollar green screen and "almost" achieve the same look
It's actually cheap if you're shooting a lot and need to set-up fast. Most people have to waste a lot of important time lighting evenly - not to mention the cost of the light, the heat, the electricity. Then theres the savings in post production with a perfect key to work with.
it IS hard to get good lighting, i did my first serious green screen video today, and it took 2 hours to get the lighting right, and take note that i dont have good equipment, i was using household lamps and such...
Hi, when you key through the gauze fabric, is that using the Reflect Media FCP/equiv plugin or is that just a standard chroma keyer? The keyer in FCP is not all that good in my experience, and I was wondering if it was good enough to do these kinds of keys? Thanks.

Thank you for clearing this up. I was confused and intrigued by this device.

I was going to buy this until I saw the price. $1500?! I bought a muslin cloth 10' x 12', with one work light, and it works fine.

DIRECTORRAMESH 3 years ago
You can use a DV camera, however you'll achieve a higher quality with an HD camera. These example were shot with a Sony FX1 HDV camera.

great idea... but WAY to much money for the normal person. too bad they don't make a non-pro version.
