It's pretty obvious why Palestinians don't accept the Jewish state... not only was this state imposed on them but as if it's not provocative enough, Israel keeps growings it's borders and has become 4 times as big as it was originally made to be. Stealing homes from Palestinians, even entire cities, is obvious enough.

not only does the United States say "one nation under God" in the allegiance, but our military & governmental representatives pledge to "defend the Constitution" -- in other words, there is an *object* of our allegiance here -- the Constitution, the nation of the founders, the American way -- not some other new way that might creep in in the future. Israel is wise to define more specifically the nature of their nation to which all new citizens will pledge allegiance.

It's to prevent a government having the power to install a dictatorship, fiddle with the legal system or censor the press. Even if you have 90% of the votes, you still can't ban newspapers, throw people in jail without charges or make yourself president for 60 years. Nothing really wrong with that imo.

A democratic Jewish state is a contradiction in terms. In a democracy, state and religion are separated. It's okay to have religious inspired party's, but once they pass a law that affiliates the state with a religion they are violating several amendments that define a democracy.
