Ottoman currency was used under Ottoman rule, while the Egyptians introduced the Egyptian pound during their brief rule in the mid -19th century. I have a one pound Palestinian note from 1948. There’s not one word of Arabic on it - only Hebrew. Would you like to see it? All you have to do is Google ‘Palestinian Pound’.

Ottoman currency was used under Ottoman rule, while the Egyptians introduced the Egyptian pound during their brief rule in the mid -19th century. I have a one pound Palestinian note from 1948. There’s not one word of Arabic on it - only Hebrew. Would you like to see it? All you have to do is Google ‘Palestinian Pound’.

In the Gaza Strip, the Palestine pound circulated until April 1951, when it was replaced by the Egyptian pound, three years after the Egyptian army took control of the territory. Today, Gaza Strip inhabitants mostly use NIS.

Arabs left Haifa and Jaffa, while British troops were still there, pleading with them to stay! The evacuations were a DOMINO effect. The British Mandate ordered Arabs and Jews to evacuate towns where they were a minority. The Arab evacuations were highlighted (and exaggerated) by the Arab media.
