I think "Pioneers" of death metal in this instance does not refer to the inventors, but rather the people who are always ahead of the game. True, that Death, Master, Immolation, etc. are the true fathers of death metal. But today, when their formulas have been used time and time again, Nile seems to be one of the few truly original bands.
