  • That being said the last few episodes were good except the death of Roy in a fire of all things after all of his family died in the infamous Hart boat explosion in 1999 and Pete being killed by armed police, that aside the last ep was good when this girl(can't remember her name) found out her boss(the pub landlord) was a killer unfortunately that was in the last episode and we never found out what happened to her

Great soap though and missed in an era where people are tired of EE. EDale etc

  • Family Affairs was actually a pretty decent soap with some great characters like Pete "the man" Callan, Roy Farmer and Yasmin and The Costello Family but I guess it was kind of doomed even moreso in its final year when they got a new EP and he axed a load of long standing characters which prompted othe older cast members to quit and intorduced a load of new characters that never gelled with the viewers and the script content apparantly suffered prompting Jack Ryder to pull out of the show

  • I didn't remember the theme until 0:19 Lmao

  • There was always thing I hated about channels and that was when they ended the greatest programmes like Family Affairs or Brookside

  • This was an alright soap i enjoyed it more than the other ones and had some pretty weird story lines.

  • Anyone remember the rhyming continuity announcer after this programme?

  • @birdy100 Yes! I always used to look forward to what he was gonna say after the show :)

  • this was when i started watching it, when this theme was used, when i was about 8. wow i feel old :L

  • catchy tune

  • Channel 5 once upon a time had the best soaps around - for camp and storyline genius, there was Sunset Beach and for middle class neurosis and surburban drudgery there were the Harts on Family Affairs! Poor Holly Hart's sexuality changed on a weekly basis - fun times!!!

  • crikey, I was 15 when this was on, and I can't have watched it often (certainly not out of choice) but within the first beat of the music I was humming along :s

  • LOL best programme ever!

  • I'm a Graphic Designer, but I've never understood why the dots of the 'i's swap places in this opening titles sequence. Quirky.

  • @ pufferfishish

Erm, maybe the dots represent Black & White as in varied ethnicities. Or Affairs in the literal sense of different families sleeping around, who knows what the designers were smoking lol!

  • good theory. you could be right there :)

  • I think, according to Inside Soap magazine, they introduced these titles in April 2002.

  • They introduced that in 2002
