  • Just got it, and couldn't put it down.

    Be sure to get her:

"In God We Trust: But which One."

  • But if your beliefs are true (atheistic universe, evolution) when don't you blame them for creating religionists and their mean God? Apparently, if evolution were true (thank God it isn't) it made religious thoughts by dint of natural processes that translated into neurons and chemicals that made "delusional" religious thoughts of a supreme Being. Besides, evolution would consider you atheists "Unfit" because of the paucity of your numbers. Nature loves reproducing theists in numbers!

  • Evolution is not backed up by "belief" but by mountains of evidence. It makes no more sense to refer to evolution as a belief system, than it does to call plate tectonics or gravity belief systems. Throughout history, religion has challenged science, and been proven wrong. Galileo was imprisoned and nearly executed by the Church, because his astronomical findings were "heresy". The reason for the persistence of religion in the 21st century can be explained in 2 words: childhood indoctrination.

  • Great video! I found this book in 2003, in the religion section of my local library. Reading it freed me not only from any discomfort I had about my growing atheism, but also from Alcoholics Anonymous, which is one of the better-concealed arms of religion. Judith's book was instrumental in leading me to full self-acceptance as an atheist. Thanks for the video; I'm glad to know others love THH as much as I do!

  • T.H.E. H.A.P.P.Y. H.E.R.E.T.I.C. = "Tormenting Hell-fire Expunges Heretic Authors' Printed Pages, Yet Heretics Erroneously Reason Eternity Then Isn't Coming"

Atheists are in for a big surprise. I am a former atheist who knows first-hand that the God I used to laugh at is real by dint of unmistakable, palpable miracles....

  • J.U.D.I.T.H. H.A.Y.E.S. = Judge Ultimately Damns Individuals That Hate Holiness And Yearn Endless Selfishness"

Hopefully Judith will come to her senses and realize that there is a God.

  • It's a tragedy that so many otherwise intelligent people actually believe that the universe was created by a megalomaniacal, sadistic torturer. Even if there were irrefutable proof that your religion is grounded in reality, and the Bible is inerrant, I'd still reject it on moral grounds. All tyranny is backed up with the threat of violence, even the religious variety.

Luckily for you, you're not in for a big surprise. After death, you won't exist to know you wasted your life on superstition.

  • You cannot use an objective standard to deem the Almighty evil, since the sine qua non of atheism is de facto relativism. Borrowing from a theistic, objective right/wrong dichotomy shows how desperate you are to blame the Almighty for evil, when in fact if I were to speak to you about objectively evil things you do would most certainly make you want to retreat into "It's not wrong for me, for I don't follow any backwards-thinking, George Bush-like right/wrong, black/white dichotomy....."

  • Cut the crap. Use all the Latin, and polysyllabics you please; there is not a shred of evidence that god exists. I do not blame god for evil, or for anything, any more than I would blame Bambi, or any other fictional character. I blame the human race for evil. Religion is just one of our more pernicious inventions. Religionists are actively seeking to subvert the scientific education of children, to deny gays and lesbians their civil rights, to teach ID as science etc. It's evil, done by people.

  • Let me make sure I'm understanding you. You are accusing me, and atheist, of deeming "The Almighty" evil? I don't believe in god; that's what it means to be an atheist. The god of the Bible is a fictional character, and yes a vicious, jealous, unjust ethnic cleanser of a character. Fortunetely, he doesn't exist in reality. My argument is with religion and religionists, not with the imaginary being that you believe you serve.
