  • Not everything you've done, but everything you or your friends post about you, is available.

  • im 16 years old and im starting to realize that everything about me and every thing iv ever done can be viewed by thousands of people and published at any time. and i can never get my privacy back.

  • It's the Division of Corrections not Secret Service! LOL Regardless, it's lame. What's the worst that they expect to find, an employee playing hooky from work so they could go to Vegas? "OH NO!"

  • mumble, mumble, mumble, mumble, mumble, mumble, mumble, mumble, mumble, mumble, mumble, mumble, mumble, mumble, mumble, mumble, mumble, mumble, mumble, mumble, mumble, mumble, mumble, mumble, mumble, mumble, mumble, mumble, mumble, mumble, mumble, mumble, mumble, mumble, mumble, mumble, mumble, mumble, mumble, mumble,

  • SUPPORT COLLINS!

  • would the employers give theirs in return? what if you want to see the type of people you would be working for? im sure THAT wouldnt happen

  • This is why I don't do social media. Never had a facebook, never will. Watch me get turned down for my next job because my potential employer doesn't believe me when I tell them this.

  • @juliengarneau If they do not believe you, then that will tell you useful information about the morals of the company you are applying too.

  • I recently learned about computer security and privacy in one of my classes last semester, and I recall my professor talking to us about this type of situation. Even if this type of protocol is necessary, it's not lawful. Forcing someone to reveal their password under such circumstances would violate their Fifth Amendment rights i.e. a suspect’s constitutional right not to incriminate himself. Privacy is privacy, and every person is governed to maintain it.

  • This is an invasion of privacy... no way would I give an employer my login and password info. Ridiculous...

  • wow that is blatent invasion of privacy

  • I agree with this man. Hack the planet! :P

  • This story has generated a mini media firestorm in the past week. I have been sharing my thoughts on various articles and blog posts, and I finally decided to write my own reflection as well. • Orwell is watching you all

  • This is one of the reasons I don't have facebook, myspace, etc. You want to find out about me, ask ME. You want references, talk to my previous employers and my teachers.

Do I have something to hide? No. I just don't like having all of my personal info out there for people to see. I wonder if they'd think I was lying or trying to hide something if I applied for this job and told them I didn't have a facebook.

Good on you my man. Don't let these people tread on your rights, no matter what job.

  • I'm usually one to verbally slam others when they cry "OMG LAWSUIT" over every little thing, usually because they don't know anything about anything. But in this case, this is certainly illegal, and I'm pretty sure not only would you have a great case, but lawyers should be falling over themselves looking to represent you.

  • This is disgusting. I hope that you stood up for yourself and they everyone implementing this policy is fired and prohibited from ever holding a gov job.

And then they have your UN/PW so that they can log in at any time to post or do whatever they want. And possibly use your info to hack other accounts of yours.

  • I am sorry this happened to you. It is completely unwarranted. Reminds me of the book "1984". Big brother is watching you, we are not far away from this scenario anymore.

  • This is intolerable. I may not have a Facebook account, but this type of privacy invasion is wrong and illegal. Good luck on any legal action taken on your part.

  • This is an outrage!!! I'm posting your story to my social blog and I hope to make a difference on your behalf because this behavior of your employer is unexplained and seems tyrannical!!!! I hope you are able to take legal action. We all need to speak out before all of our employers are asking this personal information of us! God bless you!
