I met Keith in "The Blue Moon", in Cheltenham and I've seen lots of drummers since. In my opinion, NONE were or are as good as Keith was at that young age. Today's musicians are crap by comparison, they are not hungry enough and get far more for putting in far less effort and that's not just drummers, all musicians today need to give more for what they get.

There are quotes of Pete Townshend that give glimpses of what Keith´s state of mind might have been. Pete once wrote that the only occasions when Keith was serious were when he was crying. There is a documentary here on Youtube where Pete says that it´s even possible that Keith took the (lethal) overdose of his medicine on purpose, thinking someone may find it funny. We all love Keith but it´s obvious that he had serious problems, practically making him go self-destruct.
Some call "Who Are You" a less than ideal example of KM's drumming. However, thematically, the song is very apt -- each photo is like a different person! I feel so sad for him ... in retrospect, how pathologically desperate he was for any attention, how terribly lonely and insecure he must've been inside. And I love him (how could anyone not?) -- he was a huge inspiration back in the day. Now that I'm older, though, his self-sacrifice seems, oddly, almost ... selfless! RIP, "dear boy".

Keith was a tortured soul.He drank heavily for 10 solid years after accidentally killing his friend in a drunken fiasco car accident and then of course Keith died himself. With that said, he was an awesome drummer and I miss him.
