OMG I'm seriously considering buying the full version. I'm picking up Japanese again through distance ed and I hope this will help. I am already quite good at it so the tutorial gave me nothing new. Do you know when the intermediate version will come out?
@edwardriveria We're working hard on the Intermediate edition, and we're shooting for having it done in the next 3-4 months. We're posting monthly status reports on our Facebook page -- check us out there!
I have tried the app on my android....and OMG how was I shocked to see that Japanese was fairly easy! I learned how to read now and some basic vocab and sentence structure.... its sooo easy, thnx to this app :)
Does this program teach you only the basics of Japanese (like common phrases) or will this leave me speaking Japanese fluently? I'm using the Lite version and I really love how fast and easy to learn with it is!! <3
@011BlackMamba110 Human Japanese is definitely about the nuts-and-bolts -- how the language really works -- not just phrases. By the time you're done with HJ, you'll understand how to how to put together your own sentences. Fluency is something you gain with time and use of the language, but HJ will definitely put you on that road. Thanks for your interest!
@victorNDSL Human Japanese is a labor of love from a very small team that makes their living only via this product. I personally have put more than 10 years into growing it. Please don't distribute the software illegally.
@mipy94 All editions have the same content. The difference is mainly layout, and mobility. So feel free to choose whichever edition is the most convenient for you. Thanks for your interest!
@VictimOfBoredom The Lite version has only the first several chapters, while the Full version has 40 chapters, 1800 recordings, and so on. Thanks for your interest!
@johnyjoe2k Absolutely. Any time you can get multiple perspectives on a language, it's a good thing. Often, understanding language comes down to finding an explanation that resonates with you, and we feel that Human Japanese does a great job of providing that. Content-wise, there are 40 chapters that cover what you would learn in a couple years of high school Japanese, or perhaps several quarters at college.
I love this app. I bought the full version and am one step closer to my dream of getting a doctoral degree in japan. But is the app suppose to charge you 10$ monthly?
@AnimalCookieMurderer No, it's just a one-time purchase. Please email us at our support address if you've been charged multiple times and we'll get you fixed up. (YouTube doesn't allow us to put the email address here, but you'll find it if you go to our web site.)
Thanks very much for that nice software. I've been using it for not too long and I'm already able to recognize and write all hiragana characters (at a very slow pace for the moment) and I'm beginning to recognize Katakana, some words and the pronunciation, phrase structures. I just like how it made Japanese not so scary by including human elements in the text. It does deserve its name of Human Japanese (of course, assuming that human understands English).
I want to buy the HJ pro version for my android.I want to know if the total price will be just the 9.99 dolars.I live in europe so i would really like to know if there are any extra costs for bying this application.
@BlueP0w3r No, there are no costs above and beyond the price of the app. One note: The Android version does require the download of supplementary files over the Internet -- we certainly don't charge for this, but depending on your data plan, there could be charges from your provider. We recommend downloading over a wifi connection if you are unsure. The download is up to about 60MB, depending on your phone.
I have your product on my iPhone and Although I'm moving at a horribly slow pace (I'm really busy) I can still recognize most hiragana characters. This is a really great product and it explains everything in a very clear and interesting manner, I really recommend this to anyone who wants to learn Japanese.
From the great reviews on Amazon/iTunes App, to actually going through the trouble of including a demo, and (from what I see) great customer service, I am think I am going to purchase this software! Also, it's very, very cheap, which is awesome!
I have some dumb questions though. In a review of this software, they stated that Human Japanese doesn't really go into Kanji or any writing system very much. Is this true? Is it only for speaking? Doesn't seem that way from the video and website.
@Newgameartist Human Japanese does discuss the writing system, and it presents the two syllabaries, Hiragana and Katakana. It also explains how Kanji work and fit into the writing system, but since Human Japanese is a beginning text, it doesn't begin teaching Kanji in detail. This is planned for our next product, Human Japanese Intermediate. Hope that helps!
@humanjapanese Bought your program! Thank you for your honesty and answering the question! Can't wait for Human Japanese Intermediate. Keep up the great work!
@Kingofprinces85 Absolutely. The software itself contains hundreds of vocabulary words, and by the time you reach the end, you'll be able to continue adding new vocabulary through any means and integrating it into the grammar that you know. Feel free to email us at our support address with any further questions!
@Kingofprinces85 Yes, that's the key concept behind Human Japanese. It's not just a book of vocabulary. Instead, it shows how the language works, so that you can talk about anything -- not just repeat canned phrases.
After a miserable time with rosetta stone (its Really confusing) I looked on amazon for rosetta stone japanese to give it a bad review, came across this program, and it looks Way better, the fact that it gives instructions alone makes it superior to rosetta stone, I think Human Japanese + Anki flash cards will help you learn Japanese far faster than 99% of the other ways to learn japanese (the 1% being actually living in japan)
Human Japanese is the perfect companion to use in conjunction with Michel Thomas or Pimsleur, because of the excellent foundational knowledge you'll gain in all aspects of communication (listening, speaking, reading and writing). Seriously, if you are learning japanese, do yourself a favour and use them together. You'll be amazed at the progress.
If anybody! is looking to learn Japanese quick and simple I totally recommended Human Japanese. I have seriously learned a lot! And now I can actually read some characters of the Hiragana and Katakana :D Thank you Human Japanese!
This software really, REALLY, works. I purchased the PC version and dived in in the spring of my freshman year of high school. By the next year I was in Japanese 1, always months ahead of the class material... I continued using it alongside my class studies, and never received a grade on ANY assignment below a 94. I hosted an exchange student, traveled to Japan twice as an exchange student and went on through to Honors Japanese 3. This software was a catalyst to a great passion... Priceless.
just finished the free trial on the website, and now going to extend my lessons further with the ipod app. People said it would be a tough language to study, but these lessons made it seem easy. Excellent job guys!
As soon as he said "one of the hardest languages I ever learned" I stopped taking him seriously. Japanese is quite simple at its core, if you weren't to mention the writing system. But he surely didn't study that many languages to mark it as one of the hardest. Take Lithuanian for instance, now that's a bitch
@anonyuza You're right--Japanese is in many ways simple and straightforward, and Human Japanese talks about that from lesson one. The young man in the video echoes feelings that many native English speakers have, which are understandable based on the sheer /difference/ of Japanese--its grammar, its writing system, and so on. But rest assured, HJ takes a no-nonsense approach in that regard.
