  • I have a video on the C.A.F. from 1980,and as soon as I can I will post it on here for all to see and enjoy. It has interviews with Loyd Nolan and Lefty Gardner, and even has the re-enactment of the Pearl Harbor Attack.

  • Been to this field many times and at Drake air field in Arkansas to watch the shows :)

  • i recently went to the airshow in Brownsville and it just about brought me to tears, its as if the days of vintage aircraft are fading into eternity. I was 11 years old and i could remember the roar of aircraft flying over my house where i lived on Flynn street where my mom still lives. I used to sit on the roof and watched as dozens of aircraft would fly over low enough where i could see the pilots waving. i miss those days. Harlingen CAF is a place i spent lot's of time at sure miss it.

  • Thank you for your comments, glad it brought back good memories.

  • Wow. My dad was stationed at the base in Harlingen when it was a USAF base and I grew up going to the museum and the Airsho's. Nice to see the Globemaster from the old airplane graveyard (the one that was to the north of the museum) again.

  • wait, the confedrate emblems on the planes should be ovals

with the stars and bars in them.

  • I Must have been sitting right next to you at Airsho 80...I have almost exactly the same photos including when Texas Raiders put the power up to raise the tail...I was 15 then...I went to Harlingen in 77 , 80, 82 and 85...Loved that place...That show really had a feel like no other

  • sorry about your uncle, those were glorious air show days.

  • My Uncle Skip (Sherman Bailey) loved being a part of the CAF. He used to fly a Zero... he just passed away a few days ago and this video brought back some wonderful memories...

  • my mom showed me a book about the confederate air force she had since she was little and i was surprised about how devoted the people of the caf are and i would love to see one of there airshows one day!

  • A fantastic video of an Airshow I was privileged to attend; I came all the way from Fort Campbell, KY to attend.

I only wish they did not cancel the Skydiving show at the last second; I was to be a part of that.

But, the planes more than made up; these planes are living history and an unforgettable tribute to the people fighting to keep our nation free.
