I like the wind shield. Works well. very strong, but whats with the lock. The lock does not work at all.The people at switch are still helping with this matter. The locking device does not touch any part of anything. How can it be a lock???
I installed a Switchblade shorty on my FXDWG. Best windshield I've ever had. Puts the Harley windshields to shame. Thickness, strength, installation, lock, chrome strips, LOOKS and FUNCTION. Love it.
I had a customer who claimed his Acrylic windshield stopped a mid sized TURKEY. I guess it was sitting up on a berm beside the road and his bike startled it. Obviously turkeys don fly well, and his on managed a downhill trajectory to just above GS1100 Headlight level. National should use a turkey projectile on their next test, or get the Mythbusters to try it!
Those acrylic shields, from national too, are junk and a waiste of money, but national does have the best polycarbonate shield you can by, the coating on it is pretty much scratch proof (unlike acrylic which you can scratch with your finger nail) and the polycarbonate it self is going to last AT LEAST 2-3 times as long as your acryclic memphis shades shield (providing your acrylic shield does get hit by rocks or just cracks from age which acrylic tends to do.)
honeslty, i used to work for national cycle a few years back, and actually am the guy who hit the shields with the bat, really the polycarbonate is a far superior product, this was demonstrating that is their windshields could withstand a rock or a bat and no even crack, then when that pebble or rock gets kicked up at your $300+ windshield its not going to crack, chip, or break as acrylic does.
that was not the point, the point is its tuff, and all u gatta worry about when riding is little stones flyn from other cars and insects and small stuff like that, u dont have to worry about a drive by cause yeah you will get hit
I don't understand what national cycle is trying to prove from their reputable perspective because they also produce acrylic windhsields. Just look at their "affordable" line of Dakota windshields. Are they trying to reduce half of their sales??
Well that makes the decision for me. With the big honkin grasshoppers and the rocks from the gravel haulers I encounter every day I'll be getting a windshield from you folks.
i love my windshield even more now.
just wish it was qik release.

Well all this shows is that under a serious impact your windshield won't shatter.
It still does not stop the objects from hitting you.
It just flexes out of the way, or allows clean penetration, instead of shattering.
With either shield you're still getting hit.

If you don't want to get hit, drive a car.

Well aren't the polycarbonate windshields just transferring the force to the frame? What kind of damage does that cause?
someguyXVII 3 years ago
much better to have the force hit your face...your right you make a good point

Nice demo, but your lighting sucks.
If you do this again, paint the frames flat black and use a white background with tinted windshields.
