The doctor is *really* suppressing the fact that she was born male, and lived as a man for a long time. She hated talking about it, and seeing herself as male. She got extremely sad, almost cried at one point as her voice broke. I'm glad she's doing very well now, and helping others in her situation.

@271207 as far as i know it depends on the laws of the actual state. while in some states sex reassignment is recognized for the purpose of marriage (e.g. Kansas, New Jersey), in others it isn't. however most of the states permit name and sex to be changed on birth certificate. i'm not 100% sure how it actually works though, it is only what i've read on the internet

But the answer is no they are not able to give birth, there are too many components that you would need to recreate to make such a thing able in a male body. it is definetly not something that is possible today, and not something people would be tinkering with.
