  • So your voice will return to normal, right?

  • i love my nodules, they allow me to produce sounds most people cannot!

  • i know singers who have been screaming and singing for 15 years + and dont develop these. I honestly dont believe it has to do with their technique as much as it does their genetics. I think some people just get them easier than others.

  • I had that but changing habits really worked for me.

  • my absolute total sympathies go out to you :-( I have it too

  • sing some Tom Waits!

  • doesn't sound too bad...

  • Hey , i had that same sound about 6 years ago, i then got in a music duo and it repaired itself

  • My friend thinks he has this and is going quiet for a month to "get rid off the scabs in his vocal cords"

  • i'm 13 and have that very depressive

  • holy shit.

  • Thank you for posting and sharing. All the comments are helpful too; thanks everyone.

  • I have that too, sucks big time. It's taking so long for them to go away since I've been going out again and talking too much -__- I should learn sign language lol!

  • why do i see big comments

  • Hey did you get your voice back?

  • As an avid fan of music and singing, my heart goes out to you. I do hope your instrument can be restored to its former ability and you can once again enjoy the gift of song to its fullest.

  • The only thing really to do if you want to start singing again is to get it removed.

  • Brody Dalle has the same thing. She has two.

  • I"m 18 and I think I have vocal nodules :/

I'm pretty sure its from when I went through a screamo phase when I was 16 and was in a band.

But I hate the fact that I can't sing right. I don't know what to do, I love to sing but I haven't been able to record ANYTHING because of it.

  • Continuing - I worked with somebody yesterday who sounded like you at first and I was alarmed until we got the voice free in the throat. Your speaking voice is tired but honestly it doesn't sound like major nodules to me. It sounds like the result of vocal fatigue after the muscles have tried so hard to close the cords. I am a singer and teacher interested in voice dysfunction and I work with voice every day.

  • Have you had this diagnosed because this sounds like constriction to me rather than nodules? Gravelly sounds, yes, but this is sorted by voice placement and getting proper technique. Your upper voice is clear and you would not be able to sustain sounds with nodules. You may have had them, but that sound you have right there sounds like over forcing together of the cords. So I ownder if the nodules have subsided and oyu have had to rest and therefore are ready to sing again.

  • try drinking warm things - i like warm milk (not hot, almost hot - hot enough you can drink it) and a spoon or two of cacao, or tea (i dont like it but ok)...my throath fells better and then start talking looooowww notes. i mean really low- that ones, that come from your stomach. I warm up this way. Drink as less cold drins WITH NO ICE!!! and try to avoid ice cream. When it's cold outsice - use scarf. Y, that's all i've got that may help you...really, cacao helps me to get warmed up every time.

  • If you want to sing even though you have vocal nodules, you must do this one:

YOU HAVE TO REST YOUR VOICE FOR 1 DAY, OR IN OTHER WORDS, DON'T SPEAK OR SING IN 1 DAY.

  • I don't understand. How do professional singers play concerts daily and still be able to do it

  • @billybaloop proper technique.

  • @hessounusual95 definatly

  • I sound the same in my higher notes, I thought it was excess of vocal fry, because I'm bass and I have a heavy voice... Now I'm starting consindering maybe I have vocal nodules.... And I'm just 20 years old, damn it!

  • "Good luck" is all I can say. You're very brave, putting up this video clip. Keep smiling :)

  • If Mariah can do it, so can you! Rest up!

  • Vgft

  • :((((( im the same way.. i have been basically without a voice all year... im in honors choir and all that jazz had to sit out one complete concert because i had no voice. and i absolutley adore singing.. i went to a speech therapists. i have the begining signs of nodules.. but telling me to rest . it. i try to .. but having to get up at six am. then going to my job as a hostess.. where we talk ALOT and have to be very energetic.. its tiring on my voice.. have any advice? :(

  • I believe you get it back and from the sound of your voice you deserve it back and i will pray you get it back add me if you like and you can hear some of my cover of songs and if i doing anything wrong you can help me too i love helping people also try voice thrapey or get them nodules remove and get a teacher if you dont have the money watch some of these video that teach you how to sing properly i believe god got a good plan for you and your get it back

  • Whatever you do dont remove them...reduce them and rest before singing. Singers with nodules who learn to sing with then have the most gorgeous tones ever..look at Mariah Carey she had them since she was a girl . Pavaroti got them and when he trained his voice to sing with them he developed a rich tone he didn't have when younger

  • HELP..I have a vocal nodule my voice is deep loud and soft..and i always sang..one day i got sick a few weeks ago..after that my illness was gone and i tried 2 sing high notes it resulted like shakira's voice and i cant sing my normal voice anymore..

  • I have the same thing going on with my voice..... its maddening. I hope you get better soon.

  • i i can tell you how to breathe i ve discovered if u pant like when ur giving birth this is breathing through ur diaphram thats why when u ever get panicy and upset sometimes u get hiccups

  • put ur hand where ur heart is and kind of pant then you will feel ur diaphram moving thats where it is and singing isnt all about just singing from ur diaphram people sing for years without training they smoke drink and there voice stays perfectly fine and vocule nodules aint paraletic i read even mariah carey has one thats why she has a unique sound when she goes high i always thought diaphram was in ur tummy thats what u used to hear saying sing from ur belly but its noway near the belly

  • went to my doctor i got swollen tonsils due to weather but i still cant sing with swollen tonsils makes me feel sick dont feel like singing at the moment tonsils are just under ur ears right cause thats where my pain is

  • hi do i have any modules

  • Thanks! and sorry you have nodules :( I have them too!

  • I have had nodules...:( and im a singer as well...i know is sad and frustrating but dont GIVE UP! with lots of rest, SLEEP****, water, and been mentored by an awesome vocal coach... watching for the techique I have been able to almost get rid of them... it has been a 1 from that & it hasnt been an easy one... but i have learned a lot from what "singing" really is about! HAHA!

  • ur upper notes sounded nice

  • @jeremimi actually u can hear the hoarseness... and the air is escaping bcause of the nodule... theres not a clear texture in the voice... X.X lots of rest for her! thats sad :(

  • did u feel a lump in ur upper throat is what i ment plz answer *puppy dog face*

  • i think i have that atm do u like feel a lil lump in the upper voice i can talk normal fine but i think most of the time i want to talk in a low voice last year i sang everyday without useing my diapharagm and this year i started

  • Are you all better now, and if so, how long did it take you to heal?

Also how long did you have these nodules for before you started your healing?

    All the best :)

  • I'm happy you put this up. It's literally the only video I can find of someone singing with their damaged vocal cords.

  • I was just told by an ENT that I had a nodule as well. He told me it can most likely go away with speech therapy but not sure where to go for that. If it doesn't go away with that he said it can be surgically removed. I have sung since I was 2 years old but I have also been a teacher the last 4 years working in day cares. I use my voice a lot in day care and continued to sing as a hobby. All of that must have done it.

  • i've had this shit for 2 years, couldnt fucking figure out what it was.. it's all good now, im extremely happy:d

  • Hi! thanks for the video.. it's very importante to share this kind of warning...

but... did you believe thar must be a correct way for screaming? if a baby can scream all night long and continues im perfec condition to do it again and again, could we find the same way to do it?. I believe that we loose a lot of possitive "keys" with the process of ageing like the right way to breath ... giving the necessary subglottic pressure support to the voice..

    greets from Brazil.

  • If you are having problems, stop singing, and see an otolaryngologist immediately. I'm a countertenor (falsettist), choral scholar at Oxford University and a Cathedral Lay-Clerk in the UK. I recently had bronchitis, and recurring throat infections over the past 6-7 weeks. I maintain a busy singing schedule, and only managed to get one week off it. Now I'm having some voice consistency problems and have been referred to an ENT surgeon to help me. Please seek medical advice, help is available! :-)

  • @jakeyjazz i keep getting throat infections think its probably to do with me smoking i used to have a flawless voice when i used to sing in a choir before i started smoking which was about age 12 im now 28 and i don't think if i quit now my voice will come back as it once was plus i suffer from hayfever and always get colds so my tonsils too old to have them removed and someone told me it doesn't make no difference to getting ailments wether you have tonsils or not

  • @natalieholroyd

You're not always getting colds - I say this because I thought that about myself, and found out that I have perennial rhinitis caused by untreated allergies (including hayfever). I started taking antihistamines daily, and it has made a huge difference! With regard to tonsils etc, the best preventative measure is good vocal hygiene (no smoking, lots of water, sleep well, and don't push your voice - if you are tired or sore, stop). Your problem sounds like fatigue mixed with...

  • ...bad voice placement, which is leading to all sorts of unnecessary pressure on your voice. Since my last post a few months ago I have had a consultation with a laryngologist and subsequently had speech therapy sessions. Following her advice, that of my singing teacher and reading about vocal anatomy and vocal research, I am in my best state of vocal health yet, and my musical schedule is busier than ever. Your voice sounds like it needs specialist attention. I hope you feel better soon!

  • Sounds familiar. Thing is, I was sounding okay for a few gigs in a row, and then when I took a month off (basically no singing at all), I've found that I can barely get a note out.

    It's very, very upsetting.

  • What is happening is at a certain vibration the nodules are making a dual sound but when it goes higher in pitch the vibration of the vocal cords is unaffected. That is why at the lower end you can hear it and when she goes higher the voice is more natural. Maybe she can get it fixed.

  • You still have a beutiful voice to gain a beutiful voice do you have to' be Born with it or can you train to' get it

  • Seen as you know what you're talking about with nodules, would you say Mariah Carey has them bad?

  • hey, what kind of screaming were you trying to do? false-chord, fry, or just plain yelling? also, were you trying to sing-scream?

  • How is your voice doing now? I was told nodes are hard to get. How often would you scream and did you scream at the top of your voice?

    Take care.

  • hi loucey I can imagine what it feels like I am a singer and there are periods of the year where i cant sing - allergy. Its a pitty and if I were you I wouldst stop visiting new clinics and different doctors. I was told that my voice is only capable of 2 octaves but i never gave up looking for new coaches and now my range is 4.5.... Loucey dont give up ! besides that you're beautiful and your speeking voice is so hot - I love to hear you speaking :) take care dear and Good luck!

  • how long did it take for you to recover? i went on vocal rest for two days and after those two days, it seemed like it was gone. but because i still go to school and im required to talk, i have it again.

  • what are some signs of this

  • @p4cm4n182 If it hurts stop. Rest your voice for several hours.

(I think overdoing it is the most common cause.)

It really is that simple but sometimes people can't help it-even when it hurts them they might have to talk if they teach a class or they have to sing for a concert. :(

  • @SourRevenge what do you mean hurt? after I sing for a while, my throat gets kind of raspy and i feel like i need to clear my throat, though its not painful, i presumed this happens to every singer in a concert, is this it?

  • @p4cm4n182 If you feel raspy and like something is sticking to your throat that's usually a sign that you've strained your voice a little. This is completely normal after using your voice for a few hours-especially if you're singing. Your cords can easily recover from here if you take a break. It's when you keep going after this point that you get worse. Just take a break of a few hours after every session and you should be fine :D

  • Comment removed

  • @SourRevenge ok, thanks! that pain kinda make me wonder if that was something wrong with my throat or singing techniques that might cause a nodules. But another thing is this pain have been lasting for a week now, I did screamed alot practicing for a school band. Im talking just fine, just wondering if this is the strain or not.

  • @p4cm4n182 Yelling is generally bad for your voice. You'll lose your voice faster by yelling for an hour than you will singing for 2 or 3. If you were practicing for a metal band or even if you just use your voice a lot I highly recommend you buy the DVDs from this website. (MelissaCross-dot-com) Most of her products were designed for metal singers but they're VERY helpful for learning how to take care of your voice. Definitely buy at least the first DVD =)

  • @SourRevenge alright, thanks alot :D, i dont yell as much as a metal band, but more like rock bands such as the Strokes or Nirvana and stuff, but I'll check it out. Thanks alot for your info

  • @p4cm4n182 No problem =]

Melissa Cross is my vocal sensei :D

  • omg, your voice is so calming and worm!...i hope u recover fast!

wish u all the best....u can take lessons on how to speak from diaphragm (dunno how to say it in eng) and it will help u with singing also

    bye

  • Sympathy! You will get better. A professional singer, I had nodules 5 years ago and honestly I think I would rather have broken a leg or something. The sense of panic, frustration and isolation has to be experienced to be understood! I had vocal therapy for 6 months, and although I was able to gig again it took about three years before I felt I was really back on form. I continued to improve after that. Nowadays I still sing professionally but I have to be careful not to overdo it.

  • if this keeps up, what about having surgery to have the nodules taken off? it can be done with lasers and it's a pretty minor operation!

  • i had vocal nodules. the process of healing them was the hardest thing ever but i finally did after 6 months. then i got acid reflux which went against all the training i had done, so be sure to check for that. although...this video is from 08 so im guessing you're healed by now

  • i have a nodule too, only found out today... my music classes in the uni are starting in september... what can i do?

  • HIGHLY recommend voice lessons. Even if you rest your voice enough to recovery, you're going to want to improve technique so you don't cause the same problem. Some singers made a career out of having nodules (Freddie Mercury, for example), but I wouldn't recommend it. I love to sing with a variety of tones, and I had to learn a lot through lessons: breathing, placing of tones, how to set my voice before singing, etc.

  • Hi, I was just curious... are there any major permanent side effects of vocal nodules after recovery? Or does it seem as if you never even had them in the first place?

  • Hey

  • hey I hope you got better! I am just wondering, since you have experience of having these nodules, would you say that I have it? i have a video of me doing scales and when i go higher it sounds scratchy. \:

its on my channel under "vocal damage"

  • such a shame. you have a good voice to

  • have you fixed the problem.. did you get surgery?

  • This was very brave of you to do. You are beautiful, and your voice is beautiful. If you really want and feel musical direction in your soul we all support and believe in you. Best wishes for you :)

    Daniel

  • @renderface06 I was supposed to go to vocal therapy too, my insurance wouldn't cover it. I hope it does you good!

  • I think I have them--I recovered a lot except for my falsetto high head voice I cant even scream--i really dont sing as much as I used to i did everything- rested for so long will I ever fully recover?-i dont smoke, dont drink, ..

  • @RedWOLF4Life96 I'm sorry. I don't think I'll ever be 100% again either. Did you see a dr?

  • if u can do it right like me it doesent cheack my videos

  • @Zomcrow Can't do it like you. Not at all. Cool vids. Keep it up!

  • what caused this to happen? were you singing rock music?

  • @clayton5150 I tend to vent frustation and angery by misusing my vocal cords. i.e. screaming, yelling roaring and so on.

  • hey, my cousin screams he said dont scream... unlesss u can scream right cuz u suck he said:P

  • Your cousin is incompetent. There is no right way to scream. There are things you can do to cause less damage, but screaming always damages your voice. When you scream, you're voice requires more air than singing or speaking, and your vocal chords vibrate much faster than they should. It's like making a 4 year old carry a 16 pound bowling ball. Screaming will make you develop vocal nodes.

  • @polkaspotsss Well put, I didn't even need to reply to the igrorance of watchthis180, Thank you.

  • Humm.. what a nice voice... i said girl.

  • @MARTINBENITO Thank you.

  • I kinda like that sound too actually...but hey: I'm a big fan of Tom Waits so...

  • @Dadagnos It's comforting to know my voice isn't a complete loss. Thank you.

  • thanks for the video, I am producing the same sound that you did there in the beginning, And this confirms that I have vocal nodules. Which is bad. also having a hard time accessing my falsetto voice. Going to a throat doctor soon.

I hope you're doing much better now.

  • @jickopik Sorry it's been so long. I hope you have seen a dr. If so, what were you told. I hope all is well.

  • ur voice is beautiful, hope u'll get rid of the nodules soon, i have the caged song bird feeling too, but my problem is my nose which has enlarged inferior turbinates, i suffer from nose blocked all the time =((, everytime i sing, it's like stuck and my voice cant resonate, i have to wait until next yr to have a turbinates reduction

  • @VioletKrystal I'm sorry that you can relate. I hope your reduction goes smoothly. Good luck.

  • please someone tell me u know how to recover n heal this thing.i alsow use to sing i am only 20 but my voice sounds like 40 everyone keeps telling me this...no money for surgery so jus wondering if anyone has any tips for me.

  • @magaritipivar No yelling, clearing your throat, hard coughing, speaking with a lot of force, or whispering. Don't completely stop talking either, for this could cause atrophy to the vocal muscles. If you need to clear your throat, hum softly and sip water. It's what my dr told me. Also, drink more than 64 fl oz of water a day.

  • wow that's interesting!

  • .On the other hand-I haven't seen one person whose voice after operation and aggressive drug treatment was satisfactory.Loucey...as an addition to your regimen-ask your friends to help monitor your vocal"loudness",watch the loud environment stuff, make slippery elm, marshmellow root, and other surface tissue herbs your friend...and see a good naturopath for diet and herbal counceling...and try putting your voice to sleep at say..10:30 and keep your home air moist...Happy healing!!

  • @Fiiidla Thank you ever so much for your kind hearted advise. I shall take it to heart.

  • I used to suffer from this. I hope you recover ! xxx

  • @danihobinsen howd you recover

  • No talking whatsoever for at least two months. I was drinking lots of water. Avoid even LISTENING to loud music. No smoking/ or inhaling smoke. Lots of vitamin C. Meanwhile I was doing diaphragmatic exercises. So that when My voice was recovered I wouldn't damage it with lack of proper use of diaphragm.

  • Interestingly enough, there has never been conclusive evidence that vitamin C does anything to the body. James Lind lied about his discovery to keep funding for his research.

  • Where do you come up with these stuff? Do go on.

  • My uncle took a college course on it. He wrote a paper and I proofread it. :P

  • Well vitamin C helps strengthen our immune system to fight off diseases, and helps connective tissue to be healthy. Fruits contain pectate which basically keep the fibres together. These type of chemicals are usefull to actual human strucutures (tissues) which your vocal folds and gums comprise of. I doubt that today's modern science has no clue of what vitamin C does. I simply stand by what is "socially accepted" in biology that is known to man to this day.

  • Well put. I'll tell this to my uncle and see what he has to say about it. ;] Thank you very much.

  • im so with you on that one i take vitamin c for my vocal nodules and it helps

  • Also I agree with the humidifier, it made a world of a difference.

  • @danihobinsen Thank you, did you say USED to suffer? How are you now, and what did you do?

  • @danihobinsen nevermind, I just read further down. Sorry.

  • Oh baby, I am so sorry. I hope your on the mend now.

Just rest well and look after yourself.

  • @thebunny14 Thank you for you care.

  • ahh shit, I think I have them. I got sick a few months ago, and I was singing while I was sick. Now half my falsetto is gone, and makes that sound when I try to go up there.

  • @mrtyles You should see an ENT to make sure. I f you catch them soon, the better recovery goes.

  • after 0.16 it sounds fine to me? xx

    or am i missing something?

    good luck and get better

what can you do to prevent them?

  • You can sort of hear the double tone. Often, vocal nodules impair one part of your voice, even a single pitch, but not necessarily your whole voice.

To prevent them, just don't overwork your voice, and make sure you always warm up.

  • @FireofSekhmet Well put, thank you.

  • @unofficialanonbabe Thank you. No yelling, clearing your throat, hard coughing, speaking with a lot of force, or whispering. Don't completely stop talking either, for this could cause atrophy to the vocal muscles. If you need to clear your throat, hum softly and sip water. It's what my dr told me. Also, drink more than 64 fl oz of water a day Good luck to you too.

  • unless you're into punk...then its a god send

  • when you have nodules, do you feel pain??

  • @metalkaren I only feel pain when I sing even though my nodles are slightly bothering me or when I've just been screaming. Other wise I can't really feel pain.

  • @metalkaren make sure ur don't mistake nodules for normal throat infections sometimes your voice can altar with having swollen tonsils due to weather i was worried cause i saw a lump and went to doc and he just said it was swollen tonsil from weather changes livign in uk the weather can go from cold and get a really warm few days in spring which feels like summer which is unpredictable and why it causes throat ilness and nasal u must know where the vocals look online images

  • Thanks 4 the advice. My voice sounds like this (the way she sounds really rusty in the beginning) but my voice is the opposite in that when i start the scale low, its fair but the higher i go the worse it gets. maybe I do have nodules because from what i hear in this video is the same i`m hearing in my own voice for the last few years...I will see a doctor about it. By the way, loucey, i can tell that you have a lovely voice and your upper range was still sounding clear to me in this video.

  • @MrRocky9000 Thank you. You really should see a dr. to find out for sure what's up with you vocals.

  • ??? niccceee

  • It's getting better. I'm really much clearer now, thank you.

  • @loucey I see you posted this a year and a half ago. Can you actually sing songs now without dead spots?? I'm just wondering as I feel if i don't give my voice a break I might develop this problem

  • @rockstar450 No, my voice still breaks here and there. You should probably see a dr if you think there is a real problem.

  • vocal problems are terrible for a singer. i sang for many years, even professionally but i started developing vocal problems about 5 years ago. at first i thought it was sinus problems which i had occassionally but my voice only got worse and now i can no longer sing. i do think i developed vocal nodules as well. i`ve tried everything, vocal rests, warm liquids, lemon/honey but nothing helps. are there any natural remedies that might help . i don`t want to have surgery.

  • It would be good for you to see a doc. Someone on here suggested to me that apples are supposed to be good natural remedies for soar or disfunctioning throats! I didn't want surgery either, luckily my insurance was cancelled and I couldn't afford it anyway! JK! LOL! I hope you get better. Good luck with your voice!

  • why haven't you gone to an ENT? There are a tremendous amount of different vocal issues. Things like Polyps and burst blood vessels don't heal by rest alone! Sometimes steroids, speech therapy, and even surgery are necessary!

  • Interesting....I'll have to test your theory. I love apples and have been eatting them more often. I'll pay attention to how my vocal cords feel after I eat one. Maybe that has something to do when the clearing up. Thanks for the thought!

  • You have an amazing voice

that last note in the end wid Vibrato ... INCREDIBLE ...

    But here's my question ...

If u Have an amazing Vibratoo how can u be 'singing wrong' ???

  • Thank you very much! By the time my voice was clear enough to make this recording, I had gotten advice from a few people on here. When my voice was clear enough for me to practice I would go down the scales using the advice given to me. So, when my voice is clear enough to sing a whole song, dern sure I'm apostin it! Thanks again!

  • How do i know if i have them? I'm only 14 and i think i got them from the same habits as you.. but i'm really scared, i wana be normal again. I went to an ENt, i felt so sick. He said the vocal box and chords were healthy and now i'm even more creeped out cos there's definately something there and i'm getting soo impatient. OMG!

    AHHHHHH

    ok soz

best wishes and take care. I haven't talked for so long now and that's probably bad cause i've forgotton how to speak tbh.

  • Same problem. I'm giving up. my ENT said there is no damage to cords but still there are problems.

    I GIVE UP -.-.

  • @Surykatkaaa Hope you haven't trully given up. Mine's a lot better, just with rest ,more water, and a concientious effort. I hope things are better.

  • @Surykatkaaa dont you dare or ever give up no matter what ok!!

  • @Dallas3212 I'm trying. Problems grew because I tried to sing in inappropriate range (I'm a mezzo). There was also a big infection issue, I needed to treat myself with steroids, and to this day my voice cracks if not warmed up. But I'm pretty much better. Thanks for caring! : )

  • Wow, these vocal cord nodule things scare me. I hope that it would be obvious if I had them like it was in your case. I don't think I have them but I still want to see a laryngologist because I know that there's something up with my voice.

  • Really get it checked out before it gets worse. If you know there is something wronge and it hasn't effected your voice yet, you may be able to catch it before it does. Good luck!

  • Thanks. I've since kind of changed my mind though. I think the problems I'm having are more related to me just not taking care of my voice and doing the right stuff. Some days I sound great and other days I just sound hoarse, dried up, and worn out. Living in Arizona sucks if you're a singer. It doesn't help.

  • @LinkinParkHotspur Sorry it took so long to responde. I hope you went to the dr. and all is well.

  • Here is a video response to hear her. I was a demo of one of their songs called "Nas Ne Dogonyat". It is in Russian. You should watch this. She screams REALLY loud!

  • That is what happend to Yulia Volkova from t.A.T.u............ you should hear their song "Not Gonna Get Us". You can tell which one is Yulia because she screams REALLY loud in the song. Now, she can no longer do that. She got something called a "vocal cryst"??? or something like that.

  • I checked it out. Pretty cool! Lacy Mosley of Flyleaf also had vocal problems and was given the advive to take a break, or her voice might not recover. I don't know how some singers can do it! Tough stuff!

  • I think I have the same problem as you have. I've been singing for over a year now, but lately I have noticed that it hasn't done any good to my voice, because now when I try to sing high my voice starts to crack just like your voice makes that sound when you start singing, I have no idea what to do about, I guess I'll try and get some help from a teacher or doctor, atleast now I know what's really going on with my voice, I've just been singing wrong for too long, thank you and good luck!!

  • Good luck to you too! I was told to go get vocal therapy. I was told it would really help. My insurance didn't cover it at the time and now I don't have insurance. So, I've been resting my voice a lot. It's cleared up a lot, not 100% yet. YET! So, keep your chin up! Good luck!

  • i have spasmodic dysphonia...you are georgous anyway

  • Sorry about your spasmodic dysphonia! That sucks. Thank you for the compliment.

  • thats ok loucey thanks i have botox in my throat ever 8 weeks its not good really :(

  • can vocal nodules just go after time if you rest your voice

  • The dr. told me that rest and proper use of vocal cords will drasticly reduce them and possibly make them go away. He also told me not to stop talking completely, that it will cause paralysis to my vocal cords. I've heared conflicting advise on that though. He also said whispering and clearing your throat is bad.

  • A voice coach told me that if nodules are soft and fairly new they might heal with vocal rest. I've been battling hoarseness for almost 6 months, but three exams (EN&T dr.) revealed only redness and inflammation of the cords (i.e., chronic laryngitis). But my fourth exam last week showed a nodule on the right cord. The dr. wants surgery to take it off, but says since it wasn't there as recently as December, I can wait a little and rest. Tough call, complicated stuff. Best wishes to you.

  • Wow! Sorry about your condition. That's scary stuff. I hope you're doing better and that you won't need surgery. I hope it clears up on its own. Many blessings.

  • It actually has cleared up considerably, almost completely in fact. I started eating better and exercising and lost some weight, and this seems to have helped with acid reflux, which may have been the cause (on top of how I use my voice of course). The nodule has shrunk and is almost completely gone, and my voice has returned to 100%. I am grateful to God for His grace - we are fearfully and wonderfully made. I wish you the best and hope things are going well for you!

  • How big was your nodule? How long did it take to go away?? I'm dealing with a polyp, just wondering about your experience! Thanks

  • @NJLouis66: I've had them for years and it's worse some days than others.. you think it's still possible to reduce the size of them without surgery?

  • I think the you shuld go to the doctor and get youself check,i lost my voice for almost 6 months i just when to the doctor and the found a nodule the a my be cancer i am desperate but money is tigh to go fowerd on the next exams, good luck to you.

  • Th dr found two growths in my throut, along with the nodules, that needed to be removed. I lost my insurance so there isn't anything I can do at the moment. Thank you for your concern. Good luck with your vocal problem also!

  • if I can help you, nodules dissapear in a month with the technology of our days. I work with an investigator of the voice, withouth surgery only with rehabilitation.

  • I certainly can use some vocal therapy! Thank you!

  • try speech level singing..it should help

  • Thank you, though,I'm not sure what speech level singing is.

  • What a drag. I feel your pain, I to have been diagnosed a Nodule on my right chord and funny enough the same way as you, screaming when I get angry:) and pushing to hard when performing. Something else you can try in your technique is vocal placment, focus placing your voice into your soft palate. and be sure to breath from your diaphram, breath low and support low. Be sure to push straight down NOT OUT when belting out big notes. Same sensation as going to the bath room. hope that helps:)

  • Thank you. Your voice sounds very nice. Does it ever break like this? How are you coping?

  • I just heared your voice on the clips. If you want I can help you get your voice back alot faster. The big issue with you is approximation. You need to learn how to close your cords properly. I don't think your cords came from screaming but cse you constantly send too much air to them, making them dry and when they get dry they lose protection and rub against eachother. Drink more water then you are suggested too. I would say go for 3-4 liter a day ;>
