Hey there, about your dose when I first started on methadone it made me tired as well and I was nodding and all that...but as my body got used to it...after a week I was having aches and pains again...the nods weren't that bad by the way..but I'm now on 110mgs....and I'm still sweating and achy...so I would wait for a little bit.....a week at least..and if your still tired and nodding....then change it....I wish you the best.

I take 120 mgs - I used to get a little "rush" for the first couple of months - then gone. But yah it doesn't last any longer than that- also i would not classify it as a High. Your sensors are blocked- so you're gonna feel better. Also- the more you're on- the better it works. How long were you on it at this point? However that high, twenty-odd years later, doesn't exist anymore. I'vew taken up to 500mls in a day, and that has made me very opiate drowsy, but not a lot more. i smoked opium since i was 17, and in the last year methadone has become really my drug of choice. i can use 20 mg once a week and remain rocked for a full week without taking anything else. i did my final test for my contemporary history degree high on methadone and i went out with the highest mark. that's just a blessing if you can discipline yourself and not exaggerate.

Update you video.. Right now I am on 150mg of Methadone daily.. I am having lots of problems with my health because of this.. The Dr that runs my clinic is getting people on high doses to keep them "coming and paying" to the clinic. I agree that you get high. When I take my dose I get the same feeling I used to get when I did oxycontin.

99% of the people commenting on this board who are ranting on and on about methadone w/d's did not wean off of it the right way. They either got thrown in jail, kicked out of the clinic, or quit on their own because they went back to getting high.
Talk to people who actually tapered off of it the right way. I'm talking 1 mg each month if that's what it took towards the end of the taper. Then, make your decision on whether is worth it compared to using heroin on the street.

It doesn't matter what it is, whether it is coming off of Oxycontin, heroin, or methadone, you have to truly want sobriety and be willing tu put in the hard work to get there. Methadone has a 24 hour half life, so it essentially comes out of your system slower. However, I recommend that clients wean even as slow as 1 mg per month if that is as slow as they want to take it.
Believe me at 3 bucks a pop with to children,youngest at 6 months. I've take, no I haven't take, I've thought about recovery seriously, once your at 150mgs a day, which averages 45 bucks a day, there's no hope lol. Well there's no hope for me heh. I am a substance abuse counselor at a methadone clinic and I've helped countless people wean off of methadone and go on to live great, productive, and sober lives. The majority of people that I've worked with that talk bad about methadone truly weren't invested in their recovery, and weren't willing to take the necessary steps to stay clean. If you wean off of it too fast, of course the w/d's will be unbearable...and you have to take relapse seriously.
Check it, the biggest mistake I ever did was pop one of there white oval 10mg methadone tabs of hell. Right now I finally got my sac of methadone. Which i traded my 10mg narco for em cuz once u go the methadone route why bother using anything ales, might as well get ur lighter and light money on fire cuz its no use. Indeed, mornings without a dose start off slow, but about 2 hours in, you feel just as normal as you would waking up and waiting in line at the clinic for an hour for your dose. 3rd day is when you start getting the shits, and yawns.

@zeustruth Nah bro, I climbed in your window and took em. o.O . First of all, the usual dose at a clinic for newbies is around 30 to 40 mg. Second of all, was prescribed it for pain for 3 years, 80 mg's, then they started giving me roxy's too. I took 20 mg's of methadone, and snorted the roxy's. Was also given 240 bars a month too. Lets just say the roxys lasted about 2 weeks, and the 20 mg's of methadone kepts my ass from feeling withdrawals, sold the other 60 mg's of dones $5 each.

@zeustruth On the real though, Baclofen will at least buy you a week per methadone dose without many withdrawal symptoms. You can actually get some sleep while withdrawing, at least I did. I was on 70 mg's of liquid methadone, and quit cold turkey, but using baclofen. About the only thing I experienced was loss of appetite.

@Oakleaf700 The clinic that I go to here in Oregon just changed the rules on mixing both!I take 80mg of methadone ,and .05 mg's of xanax 3 times a day.I have been taking the xanax for 15 yrs for extreme panic attacks.when I started the clinic 4 months ago they told me I could not be on more than 80 mgs of methadone because of my benzo's.So some clinics are getting much stricter after people have died from mixing!

When a patient tests positive for benzos they must get an evaluation by a mental health specialist to see why they feel the need to use benzos. If the doctor determined that they are not apropriate for a prescription of benzos, they must stop testing positive for them are they get discharged from the clinic.

Man, "methadone" It was better then sets, or tabs both 10mg's and just 2 methadone pills could beat 10+ tabs, or sets, I'm only 17 been taking them since i was 14. I've kicked it twice in a state run detox center: PRISON. the 1st time it almost killed me. can't even compare it to an "H" kick. it's an extreme mental and physical breakdown. Hey there, about your dose when I first started on methadone it made me tired as well and I was nodding and all that...but as my body got used to it...after a week I was having aches and pains again...the nods weren't that bad by the way..but I'm now on 110mgs....and I'm still sweating and achy...so I would wait for a little bit.....a week at least..and if your still tired and nodding....then change it....I wish you the best.

I take 120 mgs - I used to get a little "rush" for the first couple of months - then gone. But yah it doesn't last any longer than that- also i would not classify it as a High. Your sensors are blocked- so you're gonna feel better. Also- the more you're on- the better it works. How long were you on it at this point? Yes, as with most others, genuine good luck. I got into methadone alongside heroin, poppy heads. I'd take 20mls of methadone, and it would knock my head off. However that high, twenty-odd years later, doesn't exist anymore. I'vew taken up to 500mls in a day, and that has made me very opiate drowsy, but not a lot more. We have at least 30 clinics in a 20 mile radius here, and they all do at least 10,000 a day, no exaggeration. Read the news, Florida prescribes 1/3rd the nations narcotic meds. The Dr that runs my clinic is getting people on high doses to keep them "coming and paying" to the clinic. I agree that you get high. 99% of the people commenting on this board who are ranting on and on about methadone w/d's did not wean off of it the right way. They either got thrown in jail, kicked out of the clinic, or quit on their own because they went back to getting high.
Talk to people who actually tapered off of it the right way. I'm talking 1 mg each month if that's what it took towards the end of the taper. Then, make your decision on whether is worth it compared to using heroin on the street.

It doesn't matter what it is, whether it is coming off of Oxycontin, heroin, or methadone, you have to truly want sobriety and be willing tu put in the hard work to get there. Methadone has a 24 hour half life, so it essentially comes out of your system slower. However, I recommend that clients wean even as slow as 1 mg per month if that is as slow as they want to take it.

I am a substance abuse counselor at a methadone clinic and I've helped countless people wean off of methadone and go on to live great, productive, and sober lives. The majority of people that I've worked with that talk bad about methadone truly weren't invested in their recovery, and weren't willing to take the necessary steps to stay clean. If you wean off of it too fast, of course the w/d's will be unbearable...and you have to take relapse seriously.

@highdefinitionaudio Well, sadly I have been on it decades, and the effect on teeth is scary...crowns and dental plates are common amongst methadone addicts....the dental hospital said they can tell a methadone user just by looking at the teeth...not such a joke, the battery acid thing....it isn't the sugar in it that harms, as those on tabs and ampoules suffer equally!! Dentist says it dries up saliva, and makes the mouth a more ACIDIC environment....well observed!

Second of all, was prescribed it for pain for 3 years, 80 mg's, then they started giving me roxy's too. I took 20 mg's of methadone, and snorted the roxy's. Was also given 240 bars a month too. Lets just say the roxys lasted about 2 weeks, and the 20 mg's of methadone kepts my ass from feeling withdrawals, sold the other 60 mg's of dones $5 each.

@zeustruth On the real though, Baclofen will at least buy you a week per methadone dose without many withdrawal symptoms. You can actually get some sleep while withdrawing, at least I did. I was on 70 mg's of liquid methadone, and quit cold turkey, but using baclofen. About the only thing I experienced was loss of appetite.

When a patient tests positive for benzos they must get an evaluation by a mental health specialist to see why they feel the need to use benzos. If the doctor determined that they are not apropriate for a prescription of benzos, they must stop testing positive for them are they get discharged from the clinic.

Like i said 2 methadone pills would keep me high for 2 days solid and little withdrawl effects. I got high on my Methadone and 3 bars of xanax(Alprazolam) Doubled up on my 100mg Methadone dose and I was trying to sound like a really ignorant person who does not know a damn thing about chemicals but trys to sound like they everything. I.E. Like when I said Look up "faces of Meth" on YT and you won't want to get on a Methadone clinic.they smoke that math 2+2 =3 LOL Its like any cocaine is a downer ooops I am getting ignorant again.

Methadone and all long lasting opiates(long half life) are hell to get off of even Suboxone! But Methadone is the devil takes 2 weeks just to get past the worst part of withdrawals! Where smack or oxy takes a few days week tops...

@jeffrey42088 also i don't disagree that methadone is shit....at all. fucking atrocious shit. i didn't get as far in as yourself, i must admitt, kratom has kept me away from oxy and most other opiates(don't know if i would be so strong if i had access to morphine or something but thats neither here nor there) along with benzos, hypnotics, and alcohol. the stuff is a god send. anyway my apologies, seems we got off on the wrong foot..

yeah, kicking methadone is NO joke. I've kicked it twice in a state run detox center: PRISON. the 1st time it almost killed me. can't even compare it to an "H" kick. it's an extreme mental and physical breakdown. I was hearing things and seeing things. my kidney's shut down. CDC had to take me to an outside hospital. it took about 2 1/2 mos. to sleep past ten minutes. at 3 mos. I started to feel pang's of normalicy. if your serious about kicking H get some V's and some darvon N 100's.

15 mgs of vicodin? I can't believe they even gave you methadone for that. I use 70mgs at once.. & that's not even that high. My doc ordered me to go to the methadone clinic. I was at 130 mgs of methadone. After 3 months I realized I was worse off on the 'done than on the painkillers so I'm back. Buddy, if you think withdraws are bad from heroin/painkillers, get ready for HELL. By far the worst thing I've ever been through. This RIGHT HERE is proof that methadone clinics are legal drug dealers.

@euphorium420 I really do wish you the best bro. Shit is crazy.. I didn't realize I had an addiction till 3 years in. I've done H.. surprisingly I didn't enjoy it as much as the pain killers.. but when the oxy's and norcos weren't there it was def a good sub. My advice, painkillers aren't harming your body. Enjoy them once in a while. Life is short & as long as your safe about it you will be fine. Stay away from methadone, even if it kills you.

the phrase horse for courses fits here i live in dublin ireland and get green glaxosmithkline 100mls daily 4 6 years. It does not make me high i could drink 250 mls and would not be high same with heroin same with 40 10mg blue valium. my tolerance is sky high and its becausewhen you start taking meth it clings to the fat cells in your body and prevents you from getting the euphoria you usually get from these drugs. dont get me wrong when u are not used to it you will be high as a kite

I've took basically every drug there is and methadone got me the highest, it was also the most pleasent vuzz! But after a while you get trapped, without a buzz and with the methadone!

i think this guy needed a higher dose thats why hes throwing up n stuff.....what he said about the cravings is true....thats about it, like i said at FIRST if u raise your dose rapidly every 2 days than yes u will feel a little "high" and sleepy but besides that all it does is makes your cravings go away and saturates your opiate receptors, so even if u do do dope its not as effective...... its in his head hope you get off opiates in general one day brother much respect

i remember watching this video a couple months ago when i frist signed up at a methadone clinic and it got me ex.....methadone doesnt get you "high"....it relaxes you a little and you dont get sick thats about all u benefit from methadone but it works treating an addiction so severe.....opiate addiction is a bitch...but my point is methadone is nothing like heroin or even vicodin...this guys a pussy i am at much higher dose than him and felt a slight "high" but all it is....is sleepiness

Don't want to come off it. I'm realistic enough to know what a mess that would be. I don't need to come off it. I function perfectly fine on my 110 mg. dose. People who just meet me would never even know I'm on methadone. I'm normal this way. No nodding, no buzz, just normal. Im active, I go to a gym for exersize, Im into photography. Don't own a car, but ride bike or take the bus. It's all good. It works just great for me. Methadone doesn't deserve the bad rap some people are giving it. I KNOW.

I will just quit with my junkie pride and get real. I had a serious habit in NYC. Out here it was strictly pharmaceuticals, but a huge amount. I was killing myself. Methadone has worked wonders for me. Back in the day (70's) I could get high on 80-100 mgs of the orange chalky nasty tasting shit from Lilly. But these days, 110 mgs keeps me normal, wioth no cravings and no high. Im 57, will be a lifer on the methadone but it beats doind what I was doing. I can never come off the methadone. HELL!

Part 3 Back in prison for burglarizing pharmacies. I finally got sick of it and got intpo methadone maint. Benn in it for 2 years. I feel good. I've gained weight. I DO NOT get high on my dose 110mgs. daily. I got a tiny buzz the very first day when they started me out with 30 mg. Since then I do not get high on my dose. Back in Harlem there was a program on 125 and Lex. They gave out the 40 mg orange biscuits dissolved in orange tang. If U weren't a junkie, you could get high on it.Not any mor

This is in response to the i year of comments (good & Bad) below mine.Lived in Queens NYC for 35 years before moving out here, trying to get away from it all. I started IV heroin in 74. L.E.S., S.Bronx, Black Harlem, Span. Harlem. Copped everywhere. L.E.S. always had the best from mexican mud in 70's to the dime bags with the stamps on 'em "Dr. Nova" "Poison" "Black Sunday"etc. My habit was about a bundle every 2 days. 10 dime bags. In and out of Riker's, Upstate, you name it. 10 years of that.

This ASSHOLE is is giving methadone a bad rep. 40mg too much and "throwing up all day"? 50mg of hydrocodone(vicoden) a day and your on methadone? Methadone will"get you you high as a fuckin' kite"? and last but not least "It's similar to a heroin/morphine high"? your an asshole. Me and many, many others over the last 35 years have been on maintenance and do NOT get a "heroin/morphine high". it makes you feel normal. I am on 110 mg daily. Started out with 30 and went up 10 mg. a week to get where I am now. I no longer get high on my dose. No cravings either. I feel as good and healthy as I have been in a long time. I live in Minnesota for 25 years now. I've been on methadone for almost 2 years. I'll be a lifer. I'm 57 now, but started off shooting heroin back in NYC in 1974. In and out of jail. Addicted on and off. I got sick of that shit. Methadone has turned my life around. But be careful when you start.

I hope your not on maintenance dude. I would have screened you right out, Methadone isn't really indicated for people with such low habits as 50mg of Hydrocodone. Methadone isn't really indicated for people with habits as low as 50mg of Methadone for gods sake! Buprenorphine maybe, and that's only a MAYBE, would be more appropriate...
