I live in FL, and this kind of thing is normal for us.

I remember last year in 2009, i was with my friend and she was going to get her hair done and i didn't want to stay there and wait. so i walked around the area. I sat down on the metal beach out side of the place she was at. The next thing i know, i heard a really loud sonic boom. it made jumped. i forgot that the shuttle was coming in that day. plus i never been out side when a shuttle came in. It was great still!

you cant be "close" to the re entry. The re-entry happens about 12.5 miles above in the atmosphere. the sound wave will spread by the time it reaches the earths surface. If you watch some videos with fighter jets, they are capabale of creating the book sound. because they are close to the surface, most air shows do not allow this to happen since it may damage windows. 12.5miles is safe than anything under a mile

that sounded more like two sheets of aluminum... not some high-powered jets. Also, why would the jets be turned on when the shuttle is ONLY LANDING!?!?!? Airplanes (and the like) can coast surprisingly far for huge floating tin-cans. The plane was 15 miles in the air and then landed a couple seconds later? Also, if the plane is 15 MILES away, you shouldn't be able to hear anything from it...

The shuttle glides when it comes in for a landing. It's essentially an unpowered glider. There are no jet engines!

As for the time difference- I think this explanation will be lost on you, but the camera is pointed at NASA TV, which is a television broadcast and was delayed by about 20 seconds on my TV. In other words, I Heard the sonic boom in my house; 20 seconds later, I heard the sonic boom on the TV.

Your comment is incorrect. First off, he isn't "50 miles away," the altitude of the shuttle is 13 miles, so he is only 13 miles away. Yes, a 1,000 mph sonic boom from something that big can be felt from 13 miles. Second, the video VERY CLEARLY cuts at :28. After the sonic boom, it was another 5-6 minutes before actual touchdown.
