  • Was child proofing part of the yard and had to dig up a s#it load of glass. Lot of old hand blown stuff, quite a few intact pieces. Threw em all out while cursing the people who had thrown em there. Guess I should have kept them...

  • Those stoneware colander looking things could also be for seperating lye to make soap. I saw a large jug at a bottle show recently that was full of holes and that's what they used the jug for. Hopefully you can find out for sure. They are really cool pieces. You have to remember that back in those days making your own soap was a common practice. Thanx for sharing and keep on diggin' Swizzle

  • nice video nice bottles, check out our bottle hunting video =]

  • Great video, nontheless.

  • Where in CT is this?

  • Part III

The Providence Brewing Co. remained in business until 1925 and in 1926 Mensing turned the building into the Providence Storage Co.

  • Thanks for all that great info. But what was wierd was the one I found said "BOSTON" on it, not Providence. Maybe they had a Boston bottling plant too? Interesting....

  • How do you find these bottles? Do you just go to an old water source and just reach into the water?

  • Part II

In the meantime, Hanley was also the president of the James Hanley Brewing Co. and John E. Good was the owner of the Providence Bottling Co. In 1906 Good quit the business with Hanley and devoted his time to his bottling company only.

In 1907 Hanley took on Gustave F. Mensing as a manager for the Providence Brewing Co. and Mensing soon became its secretary and treasurer. They were producing Bohemian beer, ales, and porters of the finest quality.

  • Another nice vid Bill. I found this out about that Providence bottle you found, not sure if you have researched it yet or not.

The Providence Brewing Co., formerly the American Brewing Co., was located at 431 Harris Ave., corner of Eagle St., in Providence in 1896 with James Hanley as it's president. He was joined in 1897 by John E. Good who became the company's secretary and treasurer.

  • Nice! Great video, as always!

  • Nice going guys! Enjoyed your hunt.
