  • "I guess I'm getting used to it or I'm losing my soul..." WIN.

  • thats exactly my response to eating my 1st durian, its either people over reacting to the smell and taste, or the portian we had just wasnt in the same level of intensity

  • damn western, we know how gym socks smell! this is one is nowhere near gym socks, idiots.. does not smells good, but does not smells bad either, it just smells strong, that's it. taste like vanilla custard sweetened. so try it today, u western folks

  • mmmmmm gym sock !!!

  • its must be hard for them to crack open the durian.. its looked like the durian has been sliced open..

  • u know u like it mofo

  • for someone who is "losing their soul" you seem to be enjoying it quite alot -.-

  • "Onions and gym socks" OMG, well said !

    Thank you, Amy !

  • i luv durian , but i more luv the scale cuz it is weapon to against Robber =))

  • The imported durian I just tried was soooo nasty. Onion was by far the most overpowering flavor of the fruit in the pod I ate. I hope to one day try it out fresh as I suspect that eating it fresh is a whole different experience!

  • @WorldScott best durian is actually the ones that is fresh off the tree.

  • @nodinitiative I actually ended up using them a bit like onion with the pods I had remaining and heated them up and mixed them with some lentils. It was delicious and took on a bit of a sweet corn meal mush like texture and look. I'll be sure to eat it again but only when I can find it at a more reasonable price and preferably fresh. Cheers.

  • @WorldScott In my country, 3-4 Durians cost about 10-12USD.

This time of the month is the Durian season, its literally being sold almost every where.

  • @nodinitiative I spent approx. 19 Euros for a single medium sized one. :-/ Unfortunately when I was in Thailand (where I know they are common) some years ago I didn't know about them and spent too little time there to discover them. When I will go back I will make a point of trying them and will likely eat *TONS* especially if they are in prepared dishes. :-)

  • @WorldScott welll sucks to be you right now, or awesome to be me right now, because last night, my family and I had bought a total of 40 of those durians large and medium for just 120USD.

Imagine yourself saying no to anymore but the moment that new durian smell hits your nose, your mouth says, eat it A-Hole. It definitely does taste like delicious custard but way way way cheaper and more organic.

Sad though, only ten days left before the durian season ends. Then it cost 15-20 each :(

  • @nodinitiative Well if I loved them so much I would probably buy a big freezer and save enough to last to the next season! :-D Custard textured fruit reminds me of cherimoya which is my favorite so far. I probably would never refuse any ripe fruit from the Annonaceae family! If you have not tried this type of fruit there in Brunei (or wherever you find yourself now) then I highly recommend that you do. It could become your favorite!

  • You know, I try not to stereotype, but u white ppl really look funny eating our local fruits. lol!

  • @JedaqiaAngel Listen man, you just watched one video of some random guy eating, and it was funny, but that doesnt mean we all eat like that. :D

  • @sbenschwartz I know. But it is still funny. XD

  • I don't think they smell bad either.

  • delicious

  • taste....delicious!!!

  • for something that "tastes like a gym sock" you sure tearing that shit up

  • bro DWCALLE...come down to Thailand/Malaysia...u must try the fresh one.

  • woahhh thats a big yellowish flesh there. fucking ripe. try not to eat too much or you'll overheat.

  • durian sedap!!

  • you know what? when foreign friends swing by malaysia, i'd suggest them trying out the durian flavored ice cream before jumping into the actual fruit. think of it as a friendly introduction. other than that, props to the guy! :D

i think the majority of (south east) asians aren't bothered by the scent is because we grew up around the fruit all our lives. we're used to it. haha

  • I always eat rudians like a wild animal.!!!!!! durians are very very deliciousss :U

  • Comment removed

  • down to earth guy, it doesn't smell all that bad!, taste is alright

  • i personally ignore the smell its sweet i guess.

  • IT'S BETTER FROZEN! :D

  • u r the man durian is a great fruit and those who say its not eatable are mommas boy

  • Would you like to wash that down with TEA filtered in my GYM SOCKS after being in my NEVER WASHED SNEAKERS??

  • I'd suck all the flesh out till the seed pops out and shiny. The part where it sticks to the seed has different texture than the rest, adding even richer taste to the experience. This my friend is gourmet stuff.

  • The more you eat it, the more you are starting to enjoy it. There is no way that you can describe its taste because its unique, some good ones even sold for $70SGD each which is about $54USD. By the way, the seeds can be eaten as well with a good traditional recipe.

  • Best fruit in the whole planet!

  • lol he said "sweat"

  • apparently, the fat balded guy in bizarre food is a carnivore and so he can't even handle a prissy piece fruit like durian.

  • While most non-Asians are saying "ewww durian" while watching this, most of the Asians are like "mmmmmm yummy" lol And...How the hell do you guys get the "Onion" taste from it? Okay..maybe it smells a bit weird but Onions?...GYM SOCKS!?....

  • I dont know what the fk people are moaning about durian being nasty - i crave it!!! Love the smell but it does leak everywhere in smell - i have a 2 kg durian in my house for 30 min and my whole house smells like it LOL!

  • King of fruits! I like the taste.

  • Dam!!!!!!! Like a BOSS

  • amy has a small thumb...

  • ur brave 0_0

  • poor american. we don't curse or do like this to their fruits even its bad. because it was given by God. who are you to say bad about God creation.

  • love durian !!!!

  • When you eat it don't smell it, and don't think about it just eat.

When I first time ate it, I didn't feel any weird or confuse of it.

When it in your tongue you can feel it taste greasy and very sweet.

Maybe little weird if you not familiar for those people who try a first time in their life

I HAVE NO PROBLEM TO EAT IT MAYBE BECAUSE I CAME FROM SOUTHWEST ASIA LOL

  • The way he eat the durian is like.. eating shit. (no offence, but true)

  • smelly? damn americans. im immune to that smell.

  • Like a boss(^∇^)

  • good job buddy . people on fear factor couldn't even do it. well done

  • I ate durian and balut in one sitting. Check out my video

  • Once u eat the durian u will feel the heaven !

  • oh come on, it is durian....it is enough to make a vid?

  • Come on! Durians are awesome! greetings from Malaysia!!

  • I had this when I was like... 7 or 8, and I loved the stuff.

  • ppl who dun like durian r sissy, gay n balless

  • I've had sea urchin that looked like the close you showed. But it tasted worse than you described here. Cheap sushi...

  • Durian from Philippines.

  • I LIKE DURIAN!

  • @NamiGun I dont Like Durian I LOVE IT!

  • Durian usually eaten wif family in the night :D i like that time of the day

  • lol "either I'm getting used to it or I'm losing my soul" thumbs up!

  • Durian isn't too bad but not great. The smell isn't that bad either.

  • The thiols are what's causing the pungent "offensive yet intriguing" smell. The rest of the fruity smells comes from the aromatic substances found in most tropical and citrus fruits.

You'll either love it or hate it.

  • Your beird shapes like a durian.

  • I LOVE DURIAAAAN :DDD

  • I LOVE DURIAN

  • At 1.30,

"The guy from Bizarre Foods couldn't even finish a single bite of this, so..."

So, HATS OFF TO YOU DUDE!!!

And yes, I agree with previous comments, with the fruit frozen, you get to enjoy the taste, minus the smell. But goood nevertheless!!! ENJOY!!! :D

  • well.. durian kinda smelly.. "BUT" it taste good.. xD

  • Durian is the King if fruits =)

  • @pannathylololo28 i agree

  • thats why asian doesnt get bald :D

  • Also delicious when frozen.

    Minus the smell.

  • I know durians kinda smell awkward, but its not that bad that people can compare it to sewers and stuff.

  • hmmm i wanna try it...

  • durian are great......... only asians know how to appreciate them

  • those flavors you told are just in your state of mind.. dont let your brain give in with your pre-perception of flavors, let your tongue make the verdict

  • Contrary to most people's opinion, I liked the smell but I wasn't too fond of the taste. I enjoy durian candies and icecream though.

  • canada) ive tried it i feel it wast that bad but also came from asia im sure its worse fresh from the tree and stronger,

  • tastes like sweat : ..........nom nom nom

  • Durian only SMELLS bad. But the texture is creamy and tasty.

  • I want to try one now lol

  • Durian... to me, itz the most heavenly sweet tasting food ever. If i were there, i might able to finish it up for ya... =)

  • its MALAYSIAN MOST ROYAL FRUITS...UYEAAAH!

  • "I guess I'm getting used to it or I'm losing my soul." So funny man, hahaha!

  • my friend, that's a very high grade durian. it's huge, the flesh is bulky and the seed is small.

  • cerrutiboy is right, that's a high quality durian, I'd be very happy as a little boy if I could get one of those

  • 1:23 for the win

  • Yummy Durian.....However, don't eat Durian too much..u may got fever....In M'sia, to avoid fever, we put a plain water inside the durian part (white one). And then we drink it,,..My family has Durian Orchard...u may seen durian depend on the durian season (once a year or maybe 2 yrs)....King of Fruit

  • @mpuarr1234 bullshit (I mean the fever thing, not the season thing or the king of fruits thing, those are true!)

  • @BeatPerfection

i think he's trying to say that durian is "heaty"

  • @mpuarr1234 Wait, you said you shouldn't eat Durian too much or you'll get fever... Yet you say you avoid fever by mixing water with the white part of the Durian and drinking it... How does that make any sense?

  • @mpuarr1234 i live at singapore i love durian smells and the taste...

  • it taste ....... like a duian. that;s what durian taste like.

I hate people comparing taste to chicken whenever they taste meat.

  • Doesn't smell that bad because it's not that ripe. It was picked prematurely from the tree just like how tomatoes are grabbed from the vine green to prevent them from spoiling. Go to asia, and actually try the ones that are ripened properly.

  • .... i've been eating this since i was younger. XD i still don't understand why people are so scared of it. O_O

  • search for video "Malaysia's Durian Wonderland " in youtube there are plenty of types of durian. Try the real ones not hybrid. they taste much better

  • someone said it smelled like banana+orange+pineapple+3days being left out+fart

  • Don't eat Durian if your blood pressure is elevated or you have a heart problem. Durian is very rich in protein.

  • ripe one is bitten tase and very bad smell. if u know how to select the good one, go for it it's great!! In thailand u can order to the seller how ripe u like, it's the special fruit, need specialized seller to select and tear it off.

  • i'm thai and i love durian...not too ripe durian is the best, cant eat the ripe one. yeah lots of difference. not too ripe is sweet and good smell. ripe

  • seems like durian is a formed by many other fruits.

  • Comment removed

  • The durian fruit is even more tasty when its chilled in the fridge. Eating the fruit warm just brings out the intensity of the flavor and odor.

  • its frozen thats why it dosen't smell that bad

  • i love that fruit, it's expensive fruit her in philippines.

  • One says you shouldn't drink wine after eating durian because it contains some essence that reacts to wine ....

  • i want to try this so bad!

  • I've lived in Thailand off & on for over ten years. Several variants Golden Pillows, Gibbon Durian, etc. differ somewhat in taste & power of smell. Thai prefer not too ripe, Malay & Sing like almost gooey. Monkeys drop the fruit from heights to break it open. It is simply the most delicious fruit in the world, bar none. Makes your heart race. Thai say if you eat with whiskey you die (I did & didn't). It has a viagra effect in that it makes you hot, horny & happy. Angels eat it in Heaven.

  • Is it worth buying and trying?

  • @formsdn Yes it worth it.It does taste better than the smell. There is also a durian smoothie.Wet gym socks with toe cheese present.

  • Wow! That is a lot of durian flesh!

  • my goodness.... the dude can't even cut the damn fruit

  • tastes just like onion, carmalized onion, nothing else

  • hahahha dude your will smell durian like a week you not supposes to eat durian inside the house , man it looks good man i cant wait go back home taste the fresh one

  • Comment removed

  • I think you lost your soul lol nice video man

  • I have that same giant fork on the wall in my house!! I've also got a matching giant spoon. I wanna eat some durian, lol!

  • You've eaten gym socks?

  • i was disgusted by this before. but now,i could eat the entire fruit.. yummy! love it! it is not that bad really.. u just have to get used to it, eventually you'll find it addicting to the palate. and besides guys, where is your sense of adventure if u haven't tried the most exotic fruit in the world. this fruit rocks!! wicked awesome.=)

  • congrats, u made it! shame on zimmern. lol

why dont u try a fesh durian, the one that just drop from the tree. its fuckin delicious man!

  • Durian can be alcohol too with some process.

  • HONESTLY, it's not THAT bad... there is a sweet taste behind the stinky smell and the slimy texture

  • it taste like ice cream to me

  • Thats why they call it The King Of Fruits! it contains EVERYTHING like u said!

  • HAZZZZZZZZZZZAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • that's a damn huge durian

  • I heard it taste like onions...who the fuck would want to eat a fruit if it taste like onions? Just eat an onion. lol idk i wouldnt wanna try one, some people love them. Either you love em or loathe em.

  • @jmbhottie23 Trust me, it does NOT smell or taste nothing like onion. If it did, no one would even bother eating them. People eat them because it doesn't taste like onion. It has a very unique taste and smell that you couldn't explain or compare to anything else.

  • Hah! You should take andrew zimmern's job lol

  • for some reason you make the durian look good

  • I didn't know that it taste like swear, coconut, banana, onion. For me, it taste like heaven.

  • bitter durians is the best!

  • @chezmeg Or the smell of a troll diareha shitting on a guys face...

  • it actually looks awesome to me! the fact that that is raw and straight from nature with such a texture is incredible I think especially for those on a raw food diet.

  • dam i want some

  • Man, first durian I tried was frozen from a market in Tampa. Holy crap these are a life changing experience. It's seriously garlic and rotten onion. Fresh durian is way better....but it still tastes like garlic and bad onion.

  • I'm losing my soul......lol!

  • durian SHOULDN"T BE FROZEN!!

  • @Geramgiler1

,...iT'S ALREADY FROZEN WHEN U BUY IT HERE IN THE US!

  • The best part? Is the aftermath. The burps. You'll be tasting durians for 24 hours after that meal. YUM!

  • I am terrified to get near durian when I see them in markets in the US though it appears they smell nothing at all like the ones in Asia. I was in Malaysia a few years ago in Aug/Sept and although I have a strong stomach, I would dry-vomit when I would get within 20 feet of a cart of them. No matter how much you think you can imagine the smell, you can not imagine how bad a "fresh" one smells. Watch the iron-stomach "Bizarre Foods" guy to see a fresh one in action.

  • WTF.

    Custard texture + Banana + Sweat + Citrus + Onions + Gym socks + Coconut = Durian!?

  • @ZeroFakerAVA cactus too don't forget the cactus

  • @ZeroFakerAVA He has the texture right, but the taste of durian cannot be easily described because it has its own unique taste.

  • @ZeroFakerAVA More importantly, custard texture + banana + sweat + citrus + onions + gym socks + coconut = Not Bad?!

  • this guy is tougher than andrew zimmerman

  • Fresh durian smells more like fragrant and less like stink. Frozen ones or overly ripe ones tend to be more unpleasant smelling.

  • try fresh durian from davao. its better. i dont like the ones you buy in a supermarket. it isnt fresh anymore..

  • "Either I'm getting used to it or I'm losing my soul"

    lol

Hmm, I'm trying to imagine what citrusy banana flavoured coconut onion sweat custard tastes like.

I'll try anything twice, but when the words 'retch' and 'losing my soul' are used to describe a food, it makes me hesitant.

  • Durian is good in a wierd way. You cannot describe it nor compare it. Give it a try :D

  • you did pretty good for the first time...

no offence but how do you people know how gym socks and sweat tastes like?.....

  • pretty good for a first timer!

the seeds can be boiled and peeled too! tastes much better!

  • I'm losing my soul hahaha

I rlly wanna try one,but their like 25 bucks!

  • I always wondered what durian tasted like... now i kno

  • it has soo many taste from other fruit and that's why its called the 'king of fruit'..

  • hahaha "i'am losing my soul"

  • shes got small thumbs.... like a midget

  • @CanadianCatastrophes hahhaaa u cracked me up! :D midget thunbs..roflz :D

  • You can get Durians Syndrome from eating it.

  • This guy actually did pretty good, unlike the other faggy pansies out there.

Go eat it even if it stinks. Your body will cancel out the bad smells eventually

  • (^_^ )

  • "I'm losing my soul"

HA HA HA... that made my day

  • i think it tastes creamy .

and it does not taste like sweat , haha .

  • my favorite fruit (^_^ )

  • not 24D durian :(

  • frozen durian suck +>+

  • why durian is not bad!! maybe thats because im from Singapore. but there are really expensive durians.

  • the texture doesnt look like pudding, it looks more like mango from what I see

  • Sweat?

    Oh gross.

Now I'm afraid to eat it.

  • "Second bite,im geting used to it or loosing my soul" Lol thats epic :)

  • abraham!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • it s indeed in malaysia
