  • masters in engineering, paid to act silly. Doing it right.

  • All indoor scenes were filmed in front of a live audience.

  • "Magic!" *snort snort*

  • HOUSE!

  • i feel so sorry for the poor ol' ostrich :(

  • "It Was BOLLOCKS"

    (laughter)

"so the poor old ostrich, died for nothing" jokes

  • lol love this

  • "Well, possibly." The pure resignation in Blackadder's voice makes me love those two words.

  • I have a very simple qusetion

    How is a bicycle mad?

  • It's a weird question to ask but... did anyone ask themselves why exactly did a good part of television series had laughs in the background?

  • @loltitapota the background's laugh is to make you think that there are people near to you and see this. many series have that, like fawlty towers have that efect.

  • I will always envy the british for this masterpiece of art. Blackadder is the foremost display of historical `accuratesse´ in humoristic craftmanship on tv.

  • "So the poor old ostrich died for nothing!"

LOL! Gotta love it. I always cry at the final scene!

  • Atkinson's fury at 0:27 just cracks me up.

  • What war does this skit take place in?

  • @Karnezar

    britsh humour,love it

  • do you mean how the war stated ..... yeh

  • Holy shit that's Hugh Lawrie.

  • @cy

    yop,that great actor is british,not a yank.

  • "it was bollocks" nicceeee

  • I agree with NonesensicalHandle. However, I can't blame a lot of people here in th U.S. for not knowing. I was raised in a house that watched a lot of public television and I grew up watching Hugh, especially in "Jeeves and Wooster". It's nice that he is getting to be known over here, but I'm always trying to remind people of his earlier work. He's a great actor all around.

  • I always want to cry a little when people don't know about Hugh Laurie in Blackadder, Jeeves & Wooster, OR A Bit of Fry & Laurie.

    Sigh.

  • Yes yes. And the guy with the undies on his head is Mr. Bean.

Doesn't anyone watch TV these days? lol.

  • Yes it is. Hugh Laurie was a very famous actor in Britain for a long time before he started work on that series. Blackadder is considered one of the finest works of British comedy, and he's been in it since the beginning... Usually playing an idiot, I'll give, but he's still been in there.

  • it is him

  • I use this to introduce WW1 to my students. They love it.

  • The poor Ostrich!

  • Best summary of WWI I've ever heard!
