  • Okay, that explains a lot. My age and yes my ignorance may be showing too... We used to shag to the old r&b music thirty years ago and while I love the old Motown music my best memories were of the classics like the Georgia Prophets, Drifters,Embers,Tams,Joe Turner, Ruth Brown, etc. Thanks for your insight/update.

  • You have to be kidding!!!!

  • WTF?????

That is NOT beach music. and why are people from way up in Richmond down here swishing around the dance floor? Stupid bunch of drunk wannabes cheering them on. People please stop watering down a South and North Carolina tradition with dance music from Motown. Motown is no closer to being authentic Beach Music than the Beach Boys are. Male winner my ass. He looks like a queen swishing around with some poor embarrassed lady. God, I need a drink.

  • @professordumbledorf ....okay where do I start. I'll keep it simple for you. This is a yearly shag competition and you're watching a small segment where a professional shag dancer/instructor is paired with someone who has NEVER shag danced before. Mand had to teach him in a few lessons and then go on stage to compete against others with no history of shag dancing. Shag has evolved and yes, partners dance to rock, blues, motown, whatever will hold the shag step count. It's progressive now!

  • Marvin Gaye. Nothin' But A Party.

  • What is the name of the song? I've heard it many times but can't remember it! Definitely a great one to shag to!

  • @02Kass Got to give it up
