I'm amazed at how many impatient tools there are out there. Be patient... Its more worth it to see a 7 minute video with basic info. then see a 30 second video with no info. so u will be stuck in blender looking like a fool.

I don't know why but my monkey head is looking upwards by default when I move to camera view. I guess it's not really a big deal because I can always rotate it but I still don't know why it's looking up to begin with.

yea when you place an object it places depending on which view mode ur in (ie. front top....) but you didn't notice because shapes don't really have a noticeable "front" or "back"

Man, I'm so used to working with autodesk Maya that these controls are so new and hard to get used to. But this is still fun. (p.s. autodesk has a student version of Maya that is free to the public, It doesn't have some of the quality's of the real Maya but it still works.... a lot better.)

When I said better I meant that It's feel was less clunky than blender, admittedly blender has some cool effects that cannot be created so quickly in Maya, but I feel that Maya in turn is better for modeling, it is a personal preference and I recommend it despite the watermark.

what happens when you crash it? does it jsut shut down the program or does it do any permenant damage?

It just freezes and Windows will tell you the program stooped working. It won't harm the program, you just need to restart it.

It's just a result of the graphics card or RAM not being able to handle and excess amount of information, nothing harmful to yr PC or the program.

Subsurf is not a program. It's a modifier IN Blender.

Buttons Window > Modifiers > Add Modifier > Subsurf

If you subsurf too much it will crash.

If you just have a basic graphics card it will crash around 5 or 6. Especially if you try to render at anything with a subsurf level of over 4. My desktop has a pretty basic graphics card and the more complex models crash when I try to render at 6. However, I have a very good graphics card in my laptop and it renders at 6 with no problem.

It just depends on how advanced your graphics card is. Having lots of RAM helps with Rendering speed as well.

You made the other object in edit mode. If you make an object in edit mode, they will combine into one. To separate it, select all the vertices in edit mode you wish to be one object and hit P to separate them.
