Hey, landings 1 and 3, great!, greased them. Question: I don't remember that the 172 had as fast a climb rate as it seems on the clip. Is the engine modified from the factory specs? just curious. Good luck on your continued flight instruction.
@grtthrl28 Just a standard 172. The video has no transitions in the edits so it might seem faster but really I just cut most of the flight except takeoff and landings.
I am looking forward to starting my PPL next January. I know it is still a long time away, but this is the part that scares me. I watch people do their first solo flights all the time, and even watching them I feel anxious
Congratez on your solo! I'm down in Canada, Ontario and here you need to be 14 to solo whitch is 2 years less then the States. I have 6 hours so far At Oshawa airport (CYOO) and at about 12-15 hrs I'll hopefully solo. I'm going to write my PSTAR exam this Saturday. Hope I do well, Prob next month my instructor will send me out to solo. Good luck with other students. :)
My instructor asked me if I wanted to solo last week. I only have 8 hours, and hadn't even done my own landing. I did about 5 landings, according to my instructor two of them were marginal, two were good, and 1 was excellent. I think I need a couple more hours, before I go for the solo.
WTF? at 2:38 I thought you were going to do a low pass, not land the plane? Why in the hell did you come in so steep for landing? That is NOT the way it's supposed to be done
I'm 15 years old and just starting flying lessons... You have to be 16 to solo, so I have until my birthday in January to do at least 15 hours.... REALLY excited. Only covered up to exercise 4 of the training manual (Controls)
@helipilot94 8,000-10,000$ seems to be a relatively accurate estimate. Most flight schools will tell you ~6,000$ and 40 hours of flight. But most students complete somewhere between 50 to 65 hours, which means the cost would be higher than what most flight schools advertise. Besides, you'll have the cost of insurance and FAA examinations. BUT, it's worth every penny!!!!
Yep, 3 takeoffs and landings, I cut the time in the air because the view from the camera was a lot of the same. I stayed in the pattern which basically means circle back around and land. Each cycle was about 8 min.
@qkdornngoe I did 3 touch and go's when I took my solo. He hopped out and said. You ready for solo, called the tower on the radio and said 3 takeoffs and 3 landings and then come back. Good luck. No more preample than that. hehe :-)
yeah just remember to glance at your altimeter, airspeed, vertical airspeed, turn coordinator, attitude indicator every so often so as to not to bust your 200 foot altitude gap and you will be fine.....best of luck!!!
RIGHT RUDDER!!!!!

@Blink182009 it looks steep but it isnt, its a normal descent, the camera position makes it look really steep.

My first solo was on PA 28-140 and it was long time ago. I even can't remember except I was feeling as if I was dreaming.

just a question....why didn't you do touch-and-go's instead of land and re-taxi?
stewyshaw 2 years ago
It's what the FAA requires
KylerHayes 2 years ago
Had to taxi back as a student pilot flying solo. Didn't ask why.
