  • He seems about right except it was the Phoenicians not the Greeks who invented letters. That is why it is called the Phonetic alphabet. Phoenicians originated in modern day Lebanon and were a mercantile culture that dominated the Meditterenean prior to the Greeks and the Romans.

  • @ssalloom11 You're wrong on a number of points. "Phonetic" in phonetic alphabete stands for "phones", or speech sounds, that the symbols represent. Phoenicians didn't invent letters. They merely invented an alphabete that later transformed into such Greek and Cyrillic alphabetes, among others.
