Never, ever, EVER, will I get bored of hearing Mr Gilmour playing this, not since I heard him play it atop the Wall at Earls Court, all those years ago, fantastic!
here's an equally immortal band from the philippines....wally gonzales and david gilmoure are often compared ....check for wally's blues by juan dela cruz band
@MCSEnterprises malmsteen is shit, hes an overrated arrogant twat. David gilmour can do more with one note than malmsteen could do with an entire fretboard an so could page
its an amazing solo. technical its not too difficult. i can see why hes #82. he stays in the Bminor pentatonic position the whole time. he does not explore the neck. its basic. but amazing. not the best though. if u want a better guitar solo i suggest you look up a man named "Jimmy Page".
@jman99110 i know what you mean by technical and not too difficult. i can also see why you would refer someone to jimmy page. But you have to admit, jimmy page and led zeppelin are overrated. If YOU want a better solo i suggest you look up a man named "Yngwie Malmsteen"
@MCSEnterprises I can see why you think they are overrated. i do not understand how Yngwie Malmsteen can have a better solo that page. maybe faster. not better.
@jman99110 Technically not difficult. But there is something about this solo, it just touches your solo. Jimmy Page explores the neck yes, but his solo's are attempts to show off something that in my opinion he does not possess and that is finesse. To me, Jimmy page writes amazing songs, but his solos leave a little to be desired.
This is arguably the best guitar solo ever. It's way more about the emotion than the speed of it, anyway. And the bald guy dancing is definitely into it. Gilmour is a master, no doubt
@AliceinChainzz ...or try Lady Starlight solo by Scorpions. Also in top 10 guitar solos ever made. I think we will never get this kind of music anymore
15 people are not 'Comfortably Numb', feel sorry for them! This has to be one of the best guitar solo's EVER! I was lucky enough to hear it live, I will never forget seeing Mr Gilmour playing this on top of the Wall at Earls Court.
I coverd this song yesterday. It was great. There were about 5000 people there (it was a cristmasmarket, we were just ackground music) But somehow, when i hit the first note of this solo, it felt like everyone turned, and started looking at me. It made me scared and nervous at first, but after a while, it was fun. The adrenaline, the attention, people who enjoy you playing. Just you and your guitar.
a good guitarist is has zilch ta do with their skill, its the soul and power in the solos that makes them great. this is a perfect example of this. awesome.
One of the most influential guitars of all time in my opinion It's not about how fast you can play, but how expressive you can make the notes. His guitar sings notes of holiness!
This is the biggest dream for me or any guitarplayer in the world! To stand infront of a very big audience and just solo away with all the spotlights pointing at you (as in the beginning)! And get the feel like you're standing on a great mountain and just playing with so much feel that your veins just bleeding of godly music! Hail David Gilmoure from Sweden!
@ham123see Yet I have just watched Hotel california and came to watch this because of the solo.... Comfrtably numb has a way better solo IMO, but still it's funny how related these 2 songs are
That bald guy is probably at the happiest he's ever been and ever will be in his whole entire life... If i were there I'd of made my way over to him and we would of spun round, flapped, waved and raved together as one.... As i'm damn certain being in the same arena as Sir. Gilmour himself while he works those six strings to an astronomical level of awesomeness only himself has ever been able to acheive would give me the utmost feeling of graciousness and the biggest natural high ever, god bless.
Play for hours & not a word is needed He has what no one else has , The OLD Man & his guitar fills my eyes with tears , I saw this guy when he was a teen ,i was a kid this is amazing , i love him An intellect .
that guy can play like no one else.... the stuff he plays is such an easy thing to learn but he just makes it his own in a way that no one can replicate. its amazing
@fackingbax I am not sure if its cuz I have heard this song now for 25 years or more, but I can still feel every note of this solo as if I have heard it for the first time. Nice quote..
