The band is excellent. I just don't think 'Sheena' translates into Rockabilly.

@psychkoala Are you kiddin? The Ramones itself its a band of twisted and distorted rockabilly. They even used to think about themself as a surf music band, but with the wrong instruments. I have read a lot of interviews when they say it. Anyway, I agree with you that Sheena is more a surf music song. I love that version, btw.

Oh, I don't see it that way at all. The Ramones are one of my fave bands, and I love Rockabilly; but The Ramones aren't close to the style. I would characterize them as Hard Rock, Garage Rock, or maybe even High Energy Rock'n'roll.

@psychkoala To me the ramones had a definite surfer sentiment. Their models were the likes of The Beach boys, Rivieras jan and Dean and the like. They upped the anti and created their own surfer-punk sound. They got labeled 'Punk" and that harmed them commercially but it had nothing to do with what the Ramones actually were.

This is way cool. I've been listening to this song since 1976 and this as good or better than the original version.
