And yeah, metalcore and certainly deathcore do suck, Avenged Sevenfold is a boyband with a 'tough guys' image. Sure this intro isn't that bad, but when the vocals come up it's getting cheesy. It's not as bad as their other stuff, which is basically all about "Yeah I'm so tough, I'm so cool, yeeaah!", with cheesy thrash inspired riffs, mixed with some mangled 'classical feel' NWOBHM leads.

I can enjoy new bands as well - like Mastodon - and the sole reason I like or dislike a certain band is because of its music. That too applies to A7X, except that I'm annoyed by their cheap image as well. It's how this band markets itself to young kids, and I find it really silly.

@dapwntality well, coming from another thrasher, thrash metal tends to just be power chord after power chord, with a hammered on solo tossed in there. Yes, they do put their own into it, but its just as recycled as metalcore can be. A7X does put their own heart into their music, as it sounds different from much, if not all the other metalcore out there, just as the big thrash bands do, but the rest, in both genres, recycle everything to high hell.

Just pointing out something. I saw then play Buried Alive in San Diego last month, and i believe the last two harmonics from the intro are not natural harmonics but tap harmonics. I cant tell on which frets, somewhere near the 20 an so frets. i think they were at the 1st string 24 and 20th, or near those. Thanks for the lesson. Love your vids
