I loved it in movies when John Candy laughed at his own jokes...even if no one else in the the movie was laughing, the audience was. John Candy, you are missed.
At one point in his life, John Candy himself tried to join the army…in order to lose weight. He was rejected because of a knee injury, though. Maybe, if he had been accepted, and the army had turned him into a "lean, mean fighting machine" (not within 6 weeks, of course)…he would have died from a heart attack anyway, like his father and grandfather. It was a genetic thing.
Nice one... Lookin for a clip of John Candy's facial expression when Bill Murray asks the question about who cried when old yeller died in the movie Stripes. Anybody
Sgt Hulka's (Warren Oates)expression a5 :50 secs is priceless...one of my fav scenes in cinematic history is this whole barracks scene...truly priceless.thx for this!
@PreviewDude52797 Yes, sad but true. If I'm not mistaken, John Candy died during the filming of "Wagons East". I'll bet they had to use his stunt double for the rest of the film. The phrase "This film is dedicated to John Candy" was tacked on to the end credits of "Wagons East".
@PreviewDude52797 Personally, I thought "Wagons East" was worth watching. I was fascinated by its promo line: "They came. They saw. They changed their minds". :-)
Anyone who doesn't appreciate John Candy's sense of humor simply doesn't understand true comedy. The day Candy died was a sad day indeed. Belushi, Candy, Farley, so sad they all went way too soon.

True, Harold Ramis cracked me up with his exaggerated facial expressions of surprise, agreement, etc. as he listened to Dewey's story.
"Hahaha -- PIZZAS!"

I wonder if he was like that in real life, was he really acting or just being the big loveable guy that he was anyway

Why all the best actors are dead? for example: John Candy, Chris Farley and Joe Viterelli.

@moco635 Yes, indeed it was. It's a damn shame Warren Oates died young -- he was only 53 when he died suddenly of a heart attack on April 3,1982. :-(

@ricsanta1 And John Candy was only 43 when he died from a heart attack on March 4th, 1994. :(

@ricsanta1 Is Wagons East any good? Because I heard that one didn't get the best reviews.

@ricsanta1 Well, they obviously referenced a line from Ghostbusters:
"We came. We saw. We kicked it's ass!" :)
