The bikes not be the fastest 500cc out, Take the Ninja500r for instance, It's a good bit faster, But it does not look as good, and I like both bikes. I have a 04 Kawasaki EN500ltd a cruiser bike, It's slower then the Ninja500r with the same basic motor, It's just de tuned for more mid range power, Still a quick bike for a 500cc, It has around 50HP & the Ninja500r 59.6HP & is lighter to. But each has it's place, Right now I am looking for another place, AKA bike, A bigger one. Ride safe, yl
Getting a permit in a couple of weeks, then license, then the GS500F! Gonna turn 16 right when I get the bike, so it's mostly gonna be riding to school, pleasure cruises, etc. Any tips or recommendations for me? Parts that need to be changed to make the bike smoother?
@L4Maulers Only things I can think of are upgrading the handlebars to get more of your weight over the front wheel. It's not necessary, but I did it and I like it much better. Also, what kind of tires will it have?
@Iroquois14 what bars did you use to get yourself more forward? im looking at buying one but it looks kinda like riding a penny farthing unless i can get lower over the tank. are you having any issues with turn radius? Thanks a lot, bike looks sweet btw
@NathanH1313 I just got some universal drag bars, 7/8th inch. They lower me over the tank a bit more, I am happy with them for $20. Turn radius is fine, however at full turn they do hit the tank. It's rare that I need them at full turn anyway, so it's no problem for me.
I own a GS500, its my first bike, its turned well, utterly gutless, I get piston bounce at 160kmph, 160 is not scary, its not hang on for dear life, its GIVE ME MORE POWER DAMN YOU, max speed is supposed to be 175kph, maybe when its new.
I'm getting a much bigger bike if I live to get one.
I"m thinking about buy a 2006 suzuki gs 500f for about $2400. Only has 4350 miles on it, i'm a new rider. Is this a good deal or not, i'm to use this as my transportation to school, unless it rains.. I'm from florida, so they don't requiere motorcycle insurance, and i don't plan on getting it. Any tips?
@godrilla Yes, that's a good deal. Although I would STRONGLY recommend getting the insurance. It's only like $300 or so a year depending on your record.
Nice Video!! If you make more maybe switch the music, this song is overused.
I just bought a 2009 GS500F, not the fastest bike but I love it, it has all the power I will ever "need" It is a really fun bike to ride and it looks great to!!
i love my gs500, dont have a camera so i cant get any videos but i love it and it'll easily hit 110 on the highway. not the fastest but still fun as ever
@XxUnknownxX8 Over boreing the engine is completely NOT worth it. To get the most out of a GS500, you need to change the stock sprockets out to smaller ones, get an aftermarket pipe, rejet the carbs, and get a K&N lunchbox. Probably run you around $400-600 to have a shop do it.
Nice video! I bought the same motorcycle. I LOVE IT! I was wondering what you thought about that Zero Gravity windshield--how different is it from the stock?
@imandytran Honestly, I put the stock one on there one day just to see how it looked and I hated it. So I've never ridden with the stock one. But the Zero Gravity gets the air up over your chest and blows it into your face, which is good and bad.
wow, i thought that these were actually kinda fast... i have gone faster in my Jeep then what you went in this video. my guages top out at 100 but i have gone a full 1k rpm past when it maxes, and my red line in only 5k
I haven't gotten down to the shop to sit on one of these yet. Is riding on one of these like sitting on top a crotch rocket where you're leaned over or are you sitting straight up similar to being on a cruiser?
@MIT2004 it dont matter what you ride ,i have a gs500f & 07 cbr600rr,ill ride with anything as long as your good people, thats all that matters my brother!
Do you think the gs500f is a good motorcylce for someone who travels 20miles a day? Since im buying my bike cash i want to get this one, i dont want to buy a good used bike bc i dont know how the owner took care of it .
@MIT2004 Yes. It's an excellent bike for the price. I think they came down $1000 recently on it too. Anyway, I used to have a 20 mile commute to and from school, and it is the perfect bike to commute on. Comfort, good gas mileage, reliable engine, good looks... etc.etc.
@Iroquois14 Would you recommend this over the ninja 250? im going to be using it to back and forth to school and work prolly upwards of maybe 40 a day? maybe more
@Iroquois14 Im about 5'10" 150lbs im not that skinny though, not saying im huge but i lift every day so i think i could handle a bigger one but im not sure. btw thanks for answering my other questions haha
yeah i have a friend that has a gs500 nice bike n all but just cant compete with other bikes of its class even alot of 250s can beat them but ther not built for speed i spose
@gatykeAD I will agree with you on them not being built for speed. The Ninja 500 has 10 more horsepower. Although some of it depends on who is riding the bike

Not angry really. i just dont understand why that song is used so frequently. I watch lotsof motorcycle and car videos on YouTube and this seems to be the most over used song in this category..
i like better the gs than the r6 or cbr cause its more practical: cheaper , confortable, lower insurance, better aerodinamics, less consumption etc.. but only if its your first bike ...
Yep. All those things make it the perfect starter bike. Although if you have ridden it for over a year, you start getting really power hungry. I feel like I am ready to step up to a 750
the battery is fine..lights work an everything.. where are the spark plugs located on the bike.. sorry this my first bike. dont no much bout it as of yet ?
Take the fairings off and you should be able to see them pretty clearly. There is 1 plug per side. Also, your starter might have kicked the dust. Those things cost around $200.
I would take it to a mechanic to have them try to evaluate it.
ahh bro i found the problem .. hahah the wire connecting to the clutch was half way out.. must of moved during transportation ... it starts BEAUTIFULLY now .. !! ohh by the way wat u think of the bike itself ??? to mee it seems awesome havnt been able to get of it all day :)
I can't wait to go out riding again! I too have a gs500f. Logged about 3k miles on my bike in the latter half of last summer. Planning on putting 5+ on it this summer. Riding time's almost here!
We go riding a ton. Some of us are even still riding now. Crazy haha. We would love to ride with you man, just let me know! Where do you live in Kansas?
The truth is I didn't even know we were going that fast. When i was in lead, I just went at a pace that felt fun and comfortable. I'm glad the ride is fun, I'll try to find more roads in Lawrence like that. I doubt it, I remember there was a lot more like this in the middle of Missouri when I went camping/fishing at the lake of Ozarks. Maybe we can take a 1 day trip through Missouri some time.

i have the same bike i dont have a video of the speed yet but i have hit 130 on the bike it takes a min to get up to the speed but itll do it got some good videos of the twisties though
I got the windscreen with the bike when I bought it used.... you can find them just about anywhere, just search Zero Gravity GS500 windscreen on google.
When I actually get my bike (Still only 16...but I am getting both car and bike permits with a MSF at 17), you can be sure of it :)
Doubt I'll do your speeds though...I drove a car once going 30 and I thought that was exciting...seemed fast at the time ...All I rode beforehand were bicycles :P
But ill save that for when i have full safety gear.
This is an EXCELLENT starter bike.
If you have no previous experience on a motorcycle then i recommend this. It has a lot of parts too so if you need a spare. I bought mine for about 2,400 used
I like how you guys gave each other plenty of room especially in the curves thats good riding man ....... Some guys I've ridin with in the past think they are on the damn track and they ride all up on your ass in the turns, I hate that, especially when I dont know them very well or their skill level . .
I really discourage road speeding, keep it on the track! But saying that............even i have to have a quick speed run every once in a while, im such a hippocrite !! Loved the vid ;-)

Do we have roads like this with no limit? Or was this a video of a country road with no one looking?
I'd love to find some roads like that... :)
SimmanGodz 2 years ago
It was a 40 mph limit country road. I figured that seeing the county sheriff is a long shot, so we went for it.
Just get out of the city, there are plenty of empty country roads.

I'm 15 1/2 with my license.
And hit 100 on this same bike
;D

o.o
I envy you...I'm 16 without a license >:(
Your awesome...
SimmanGodz 2 years ago
I'm sure i could push the bike to ~120.
But ill save that for when i have full safety gear.
This is an EXCELLENT starter bike.
If you have no previous experience on a motorcycle then i recommend this. It has a lot of parts too so if you need a spare. I bought mine for about 2,400 used
bigbilly29 2 years ago
Seriously?...I think I might get that instead...I dont want to upgrade from the Ninja 250 when I get it :(...
Even if I managed to get the gs500 for 3k..That'd still leave me some money for some modding :D
SimmanGodz 2 years ago
Yeah, i love mine.
But are you saying that you were going to get a ninja 250r or you already have one?
bigbilly29 2 years ago
No...I'm bikeless T.T
Was going to get to 250r...but now I'm looking at some 500s...dont really want to go over :( I know myself too well....
By the way Iroquois...sorry we're chatting on your vid....hope your not getting annoyed :P

I like how you guys gave each other plenty of room especially in the curves thats good riding man ....... Some guys I've ridin with in the past think they are on the damn track and they ride all up on your ass in the turns, I hate that, especially when I dont know them very well or their skill level . .

robinphillips 2 years ago
On flat road no wind my Ninja 250R can hit 160, I've hit 165km/h on a slight downhill grade too...

Although I strongly discourage speeding, I did a mini highspeed run myself the other day. Fun to get it out of y our system every once in a while.
ToastToGo 2 years ago
I really discourage road speeding, keep it on the track! But saying that............even i have to have a quick speed run every once in a while, im such a hippocrite !! Loved the vid ;-)
robinphillips 2 years ago
I absolutely agree.... but from time to time, you need to just get the speed demon out of you. Especially on a back country road with no traffic.
Iroquois14 2 years ago
Yeh your quite lucky in the US, where i live there is no such thing as a "quiet back road" not in HK dude.......lol.......all busy roads here :-(
robinphillips 2 years ago
exelent ride bro, makes me wanna take to the road which i think i am going to do :)
